Nothing special but Not bad
nosybummer22 August 2009
I hate to say it but there is nothing special about this movie .It doesn't even compare to the first movie which was good .the story line is pretty predictable.i can't say i didn't enjoy it.it does compare to the second and third movie of this series.i did expected more from this movie and i am not satisfied

But the main problem of this movie is underdevelopment of certain characters like 'SKY' but the acting wasn't bad

If you are in to cheer leading or want to see a cheerleader movie with good cheer leading action go for it and you will not be disappointed. This not a great movie but it is watchable And i give it a 4.5/10 rating

Insult to All stars
babiglow9 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Growing up as an all star taught me more, than what all Bring It On movies put together. Yeah, I'll sit down and watch them, and have some fun with it, but the whole time I watch it, I think of all the illegal things or goofs that are happening as I watch it. As cheerleader, you should know 3 basic things, every competition is categorized by age requirements, skills, and size. Cheerleaders should also know that there are levels that in the all star world limit skills. Most of the baskets completed were illegal to any team that is level 5 or under, the stunts portray more traditional college stunts or level 6 teams. The movie doesn't focus on cheerleading basics like stretch stunting or tumbling or jumping, 3 very important aspects that cheerleaders are graded on for each performance. Plus to be an all star requires money. Since many viewers are cheerleaders, I hope you're not as disappointed as me, but since I am also a cheerleading coach for all stars and pop warner, this movie got me angry in so many ways.

My Personal Favorite of the Series
Uriah4312 November 2018
After her widowed Latina mother "Isabel" (Laura Ceron) marries a wealthy man named "Henry" (David Starzyk), a high school cheerleader by the name of "Lena" (Christina Milian) is forced to move from East Los Angeles to Malibu. Although her new house is in an upscale part of the city, Lena is extremely upset about having to leave her high school friends and her cheerleading team where she served as the captain. Not only that, but once she gets to her new school she learns that a former cheerleader there named "Avery" (Rachele Brooke Smith) has left the current squad out of spite and taken most of the talented members to form a team outside of the high school known as the All Star Jaguars. Naturally, in desperate need of an experienced captain, the remaining Malibu Vista Sea Lions cheerleading team desperately begs her to lead their squad. Naturally, she accepts but soon realizes that she cannot revitalize this depleted team all on her own so when she learns that her old cheerleading squad has disbanded she eagerly recruits a couple of them to move in with her and help her out. Needless to say, this displeases Avery who has done everything she can to ruin this team. And she doesn't want anyone to get in her way. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that I genuinely liked this film and thought it was actually better than any of its predecessors. Although the plot was certainly similar to the others, I liked the reverse-scenario of "Bring It On-All or Nothing" along with the chemistry between Lena and her two friends "Gloria" (Vanessa Born) and "Treyvonetta" (Gabrielle Dennis). They were hilarious. At any rate, while this movie certainly won't win any awards, I enjoyed it all the same and have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.

worst bring it on movie of the series.
xochristinnaaaa23 January 2010
i love the bring it on movies, well most of them. i thought the second one was bad, but this one takes the cake for the worst. the dialog was so corny and predictably it hurt to watch. i couldn't even understand half of what they were saying cause of their accents. Lina's accent made it even cornier. i thought they should have had something more about the boyfriend who was the sister of the rival cheer captain. but there was nothing really there with them. the cheer routines were more of obnoxious grinding then actual cheering.i do gymnastics so I'm used to tumbling, but theirs was awful. i hated this movie and wouldn't definitely not watch it again.

The Worst Movie I've Seen This Year
murrayiris2 September 2009
I'm not a big fan of these so-called genre movies. They are pretty predictable...girl tries to be popular, is rejected by popular kids, then becomes more popular by besting the popular kids that made fun of her in the first place.

However, this movie went beyond formulaic. It bordered on offensive to both my eyes and ears.

The acting was sub-par and not believable in any way. The stereotypes and the accents made me cringe...and at times, made me out-right laugh.

I've never been as bored when watching a dance sequence before. It was sloppy and made me want to sleep until they where over.

This movie should be buried in that hole where they buried all those Atari E.T. games.

A waste of time, effort of everyone involved and money. People should lose their jobs over this steaming stinker.

Really?
iluvdorksohyeah6 February 2010
I have seen all of the movies. Though they were predictable and not my favorite, they were not as horrible as this movie.

The thing that bugged me the most, and bugged me in past movies too, was the cheering. They go to these competitions and break the rules. Some of the stunts they did were illegal and would not have made it in a real competition. You might be thinking, "How would you know?" I used to be a competition cheerleader and dancer. My coach made sure we knew the rules inside and out. If they did some of the stunts they did in this movie, they would have never won or made it that far. Safety is big in the cheerleading world and those rules are made for safety. Breaking them is a big no no.

Another thing is that the main team's dance at the end sucked. It was sloppy, uncreative, and just bad. I, and the other girl's I cheered with, agreed that the other team (with the "bad girl" character) did a much better job. It was insulting to see the main team do so badly and be treated as if they were awesome. In past Bring It On movies the final dance those teams did were so much better.

Finally, the acting. The whole cast wasn't horrible, but a few of the actresses over acted and seemed to be trying to hard.

So overall, unless you have time to waste, don't watch this movie. Watch the other Bring On Movies before you watch this. It is a waste of time and a waste of a movie.

As a part of the older generation, I hated this movie
silllinda18 April 2015
I am older than most of the people giving reviews. I was a cheerleader and I had two daughters that were also cheerleaders. I have enjoyed the movies until I got to this one. It irritated me so much in the first 15 minutes I nearly didn't watch the rest of it. Terrible acting was of course, the first thing I saw. But my biggest turn off was injecting rampant sexuality into everything. Here is the message: You weren't a good cheerleader until everything you did simulated sexual moves. The younger generation often doesn't recognize it or care. But talent is talent and adding sex to everything to make it a "winner" is stupid. It reminds me of the junior high toilet humor in movies because no one can think of anything better. So to get these stupid "stereotyped" white girls to get with the program, they must get together with the "stereotyped" Latinos of the poorer section of town and they are going to teach them how to bump and grind and then they can do their cheers better. They can be sensual and that seems to be the goal here. I have watched a lot of competition cheer leading and this was awful. Both sides of the coin, the whites and Latinos ought to sue the movie company for teaching the movie goers lies about their community and their heritage.

the All Star Jaguars were the WOW team
RavenGlamDVDCollector2 January 2022
Mirroring my review for BRING IT ON: ALL OR NOTHING years ago, I say that the "losing" team had much better moves. The Malibu Dream Team were more crotch-gyrating. The All Stars had a terrific lead dancer. Rachelle Brooke Smith was fantastic!

Okay, about the movie itself. The first bit, oh, cr... I was already thinking up a super-negative headline. Let me say one thing straight. Christina Milian as the lead girl, no way. Old enough to be a teacher. In the patio training scene with personal favorite Sky, there you see real youth, real delicate movements. The weak link in the whole thing is a performance that just alienated me from the get-go. It did get better. But the damage was done...

To the reviewers complaining about not understanding, well, if you're watching on DVD, switch to subtitles. One round of that, next time you won't need it. It is a pretty valid point if you're not watching on DVD, though. I would not have been able to catch what was said.

I ended up enjoying it immensely. And if The Raven compliments, well, take it as a feather in your cap.

Worst Bring It On Movie.... So far.
chinesekmek17 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
As a fellow All Star Cheerleader review I found this movie one of the worst cheer movies ever! The cheerleaders were more like grinding and not cheering for one thing, and also portrayed cheerleaders like slutty witchy girls. As the years of Bring It On movies go on and on, the acting, plot lines and everything gets crappier and crappier, no doubt they will make another crap Bring It On movie, but this one will have to do with one of the worsts so far. This one happens to be Christina Millan's character from LA gets an AMAZING opportunity to live in Malibu and acts like a total snob about how she doesn't want to live there and acts witchy to everyone and about everything, she dresses trashy throughout the movie in skimpy and inappropriate clothes. ALSO this movie had horrible Lation accents and the movie also made very degrading and almost racist comments. If you do See the movie, you will see what I mean...

Cute movie, Some Bad Latin Stereotypes, Christina Millian Hot
diamond_bello3 February 2013
Overall It was a cute movie and I really liked it. But some of the Latino stereotypes were pretty bad. For example not all Latinos have accents like these characters. Just keep the Latino characters and make them act like normal people! Yeah they can talk Spanish with their parents. But come one the cucaracha sounding car horn! It's like who the hell uses that? I've lived in Florida, NY, CA & Texas and I've never seen 1 Latino use a cucaracha car horn!

Also that Victor character failed at playing a Cholo, he was trying way too hard and completely failed.

Christina Millian looked way too hot, loved her acting and everything about her! She was amazing!

I created an IMDb account specifically because of this movie. My teenage daughter made me sit through this. In terms of awful, this is right up there with Sandlot 2. I can give you my review in two words: Shoot. Me.

GIVING AS A Christmas GIFT THIS YEAR!
nodakbutterfly14 September 2009
I am sitting in pure amazement! This was the most inspiring, bright and delightful movie I have seen this decade! Wonderful! Outstanding! The acting was not at all sub-par... Victor was most definitely the best character, who developed and matured as the movie went on... and the cattiness had a purpose because everyone learned a very valuable lesson. Oh wait... NO, none of that is correct. I own this video now and when I watch it next I plan on fastforwarding through all the talking and watching only the dancing. PS anyone who thought Victor was HOT... try getting checked out at the Walmart Vision Center instead of the back of the 3rd rate neighborhood van you currently frequent; of course he is probably better than your present jailhouse penpal boytoy you tote as 'man of the year'.

Peace out!

Horrible!
roza-199619 March 2014
The only reason I gave this movie a 1 was because I couldn't give it a 0. Worst and dumbest movie i have ever seen! Very bad acting, 'dancing/cheer-leading'and the plot. I have never watched such a bad movie in my life. I don't understand why they made so many bring it on movies because it just kept getting worse each time. If you're planning on watching this movie, don't. Its a complete waste of time. It seems like a child wrote and directed this movie. Its very predictable and cliché. I would only recommend this movie if you're 12 and extremely bored. If you are a cheerleader or are into cheer-leading, definitely do not watch this movie.

They should have called it 'SUPER SENIORS' or 'Bilingual'
Sherazade28 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
They took ideas from Bring it on(All or nothing) and Bring it on (in it to win it) and still it turned out bad. And with all that Spanish speaking the film should have been subtitled or at least advertised as a bilingual film.

Christina Milian shouldn't even bother quitting her day job as a singer, she could barely carry this film (it's no wonder her character kept seeking out her two friends for back-up). Let's not even get into the stereotypes because I could spend all day on all that crap.

And could somebody please explain to me what "E" news would be doing at a cheer-leading championship? At least try and make some things believable people!!!

Toxic
RocketQueen881 August 2023
I hated this film. I love the bring it on franchise but this was appalling.

I put it on for me and my daughter to watch, it was not a feel good girly movie. So much girl on girl hate, body shaming, blatant racial slurs, poverty shaming and racial stereotyping. I felt awful showing this to a young impressionable girl.

The story its self was flat and just plain nasty. No lovable characters or redeeming plot twist. The actors weren't terrible but I wonder how they felt churning out racial surr one after another.

This film is of its time and wouldn't be made in such a way today. This film depicts Latino women as 'loco' angry and violent and exacerbates white privilege. Avoid!

not the worst, not the best
LetsReviewThat261 January 2022
Out of the five bring it on films that I have watched, I honestly have to say its the not the worst. That honour goes to bring it on again and. Worldwide showdown.it didn't have the charm like others but the choreography scenes were ok. I also enjoyed Holland Rodden's character of sky. In conclusion if they ever decide to milk the franchise further just stick with a mixture of different casts from the other films and it might make something good.

Hot movie
danielle_tyler_johnathan19 September 2009
This movie was the best of all. I like all of them but the moves in it and the dances are hot. No, it may not be like the first one but all the bring it on's are different in there own way. I love this one! They did a good job in everything. If your a cheerleader and want to learn some new moves this would be a good movie. I love the Latin feel to it. My husband even loves this movie which says a lot laugh out loud. He even gets up and dances when he can. To me this movie is a ten. The actors are hot and the soundtrack to it makes great to dance to. The movie was not underdevelopment they did a good job. "Sky" was acting the way a cheerleader would who gave up on cheering. If you want to watch a fun and great movie with hot music and dances this is the movie. It is awesome.

Too many Latino stereotypes but has good central themes
sylsam28 August 2023
This movie is predictable but it's not a bad thing. I've loved this movie as a kid but wanted to write a critical review as an adult. Lots of the dialogue is corny but can't complain because it's cute. It's also funny.

First off, setting up the story is poorly done for this movie. The writers failed to set up the story by excluding important details eg: it's not explained how Lina's Mom and rich stepdad met since they come from different socioeconomic worlds. So how did they meet?

In general, the characters need more depth, but maybe there's an exception for a cheerleading movie. The character growth is underdeveloped but central themes of love, friendship, and family kept this movie together.

The acting is good, but the scenes didn't make sense eg: How did these teenagers have their party at a club? Yet sodas were on the tables lol. The characters were over the top with Latino stereotypes from East LA. But I LOVE the dancing, LOVE the music, and Christina Millan is hot when she appears on the screen. And I love Lina's friends!

My biggest complaint is that the movie has too many Latino stereotypes throughout. Overall, this movie deserved it's current 5/10 rating because the consistent stereotypes were offensive and uncomfortable to watch.

Anyway, I hope my review was helpful :)

One of the best Bring it On movies I've seen :)
pnoydork2915 January 2010
So I rented this movie for fun...just to kill time. Never thought I'd find it pretty interesting. But maybe it's because I'm into dancing too, and cheer leading is...some sort of it...but it's a sport.

The movie starts out hot and stays that way throughout the whole movie. There are some slow parts, but it's because it's a chick flick. Expect there to be.

Dances are amazing, so are the cheer practices that they have every now and then. Acting I would have to say is pretty okay. I didn't know that Christina,a real beautiful woman, shows lot of culture in this movie. Her acting is actually okay. Holland Roden's acting was astonishing, from being a geeky nerdy cheer girl she transforms into a confident and comfortable lady. Nikki SooHoo is hilarious. I love her character and especially her voice in this movie.

We all gotta know that in the end this movie is just made for fun. I read the other reviews on here saying "It's an insult to Allstars". This movie is fictional. It would be boring if the rules weren't broken and it was just how you normally do cheer competitions. For the guy that said "I'm not a big fan of these so-called genre movies. They are pretty predictable...girl tries to be popular-" blah blah blah....why watch it in the first place? Go watch....300. >.>

Anyways, if you're into cheer leading go watch it for fun sense and not for reality sense of cheer leading. If you're curious about the film, give it a shot. It's a chick flick, I warn you right now. It'll make you smile. If you don't care about the acting and just a fun person. GO GO GO! Everyone's got an opinion about something. I got mine ;)

I give this movie a 9 out of 10 (For me...not for you :D)

Oh and Cody Longo is HOT! Haha that's my two cents. Peace!

Favorite childhood movie!
delcidjenni15 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Alright let's be real. We all know this was obviously so corny in most scenes but isn't that the point just like the rest of the 'bring it on' series? Anyway, I thought this was such a great movie they all did good . As a Hispanic myself this was one of the first cheerleading film , that I know of , that included latinas in this movie and showing their side of culture. Especially having the most popular singers aka Prima J! The fight scenes were just perfect as it is lol corny cat fight who doesn't love it? I'm surprised this was rated as a low number when this one was actually decent than the other movie 'in it to win it' in my opinion. All in all, I fell in love with the movie when I first watched it when I was 10 and I still love it now !
