Working on her fourth in the successful anthology romance series featuring the "in love" characters of Desmond Ranes and Catarina, Izzi Simmons is told by her best friend and editor Mila that the ending of her first draft, already past due, is unacceptable. Mila's take on the problem is that Izzi has made Desmond an unrealistic version of a romantic character in being "perfect", which matches Izzi's own unrealistic pursuit of a man, she looking for her own Desmond so to speak. With Mila unwilling to push the final deadline past Christmas Eve in less than a week as Izzi requests, Izzi is able to convince her to allow her to work on the necessary edits from the Antler Lodge in Silver Springs. Since her parents moved to Florida, Izzi, a winter wonderland traditionalist in her view of the perfect Christmas, has found the Lodge her Christmas home away from home, especially as its proprietor, Bob, is as much a traditionalist as her. The only reason why Mila allows this working vacation is ... Written by Huggo

Mila tells Izzi, "Your holiday themed book was supposed to be available for the holidays," referring to the reason she won't allow the final draft deadline past Christmas Eve. Even though the book is for next Christmas, that statement makes no sense in a pure rationale perspective of not having some flexibility in the deadline. See more »

Bob: Izzi. What do I owe the pleasure again?
Izzi Simmons: I just have a quick question.
Bob: Let me guess. You saw the remodeled aesthetics.
Izzi Simmons: About that. Um, my floors... I mean, your floors, technically, they used to have a distinct squeak. But the thing is, now the squeak is gone and there's a carpet over the floorboards.
Bob: I'm sensing you don't like the carpet.
Izzi Simmons: Was this your idea?
Bob: No, it was, uh, his. Meet the new owner of the B&B, my son. He just moved back from Seattle.
Izzi Simmons: Desmond?
Matt: Uh, actually, no. It's uh... It's Matt.
Izzi Simmons: Matt?

Heartfelt Christmas Movie - Great chemistry between two main characters
14 December 2020 | by joanakalaonuSee all my reviews

As someone who consumes these holiday movies - Hallmark, Lifetime and now Netflix, every year, I will say Christmas Ever After is definitely one of my favorites this year. Great diverse representation, cute story theme with an out-of-town novelist, and single dad, both in their own waves looking for an opportunity to experience or re-experience love. I enjoyed the quirky banter between Izzi (Ali Stoker) and Matt (Daniel di Tomasso) - I think Daniel did a great job of showcasing Matt's almost shy hesitancy to acknowledge his growing feelings for Izzi. The actress playing Matt's daughter was adorable and hilarious. Also, the fact that the movie featured a heroine in wheelchair without making that the center of the story was so well done. The only thing I thought could have been done better was the ending, it was a bit rushed or perhaps I just wanted to spend some more time with these characters. I have had this movie on repeat on my DVR and recommending it to friends as well!
