Yakamoz S-245

The name of the Submarine, "Yakamoz" is essentially a word that has no direct equivalent in other languages. Yakamoz means the reflection of moonlight on delicate waves when the dark night sea catches the moonlight in the right angle and acts like a mirror. In Ottoman times it was believed the wriggling of fish was causing the gentle waves and thus creating yakamoz, therefore it was most often associated with fish. Yakamoz was also selected the most beautiful word in the world in a competition held in Berlin.
