"Dune: Part Two" spoilers follow.
In Frank Herbert's 1965 novel "Dune," the main character Paul Atreides, and his mother Jessica, flee into the deserts of Arrakis to escape a successful attack on their home by the murderous House Harkonnen. They fall in with the Fremen, the nomadic natives of Arrakis, and Paul will grow to become their leader. Thanks to some manipulation from Jessica, Paul will also come to be considered the Fremen Messiah. When they first fled, Jessica was pregnant. In her years with the Fremen, Jessica will give birth to a girl named Alia. She will grow to be a toddler with eerie powers, granted to her by the Water of Life, a semi-poisonous worm excretion that Jessica drank while pregnant.
In David Lynch's 1984 film adaptation of "Dune," Alia is played by a young Alicia Witt and voiced by an adult actress. In the 2000 miniseries adaptation of "Dune,...

Despite its poor reviews, Kellan Lutz's 2014 film The Legend of Hercules has found success on Netflix's Top 10 list. Lutz's filmography has had its ups and downs, with only a few movies earning positive critical reception. The film's value lies in its entertainment factor, showcasing Lutz's ability to find projects with wide appeal.
Kellan Lutz's The Legend of Hercules didn't sit well with critics, and this continued an unfortunate streak for the actor's movies. Lutz got his big break in Hollywood in the 2006 movie Stick It, and things quickly took off from there. He has since appeared in several movies nearly every year, and franchises like Twilight made him even more familiar to audiences. Unfortunately, leading up to The Legend of Hercules, Lutz was stuck in a pretty grim Rotten Tomatoes streak, and the 2014 film did nothing to improve it.

Tanaya Beatty has proven her incredible talent as an actress through her various roles in American and Canadian productions, spanning across genres like drama, science fiction, western, and more. Beatty's first-ever acting role in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" showcased her talent as she held her own against A-list actors like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Beatty's performances in shows like "Arctic Air," "The Night Shift," and films like "God's Country" and "Bones of Crows" demonstrate her ability to play complex and emotionally powerful characters, delivering captivating performances even in limited screen time.
While Tanaya Beatty may be best known for playing Avery in Taylor Sheridan's Paramount series Yellowstone, her roles in various other movies and TV shows have proven her incredible talents as an actress. Fangs, Forks, Washington and fall, oh my! The five “Twilight Saga” films set the mood for the fall season, so as Halloween nears, get ahead with the movie nights and marathons so that you have ample time to absorb all the broody, bloody love story this season. Fall is the perfect time to re-invest in the love triangle and vampire vs. werewolf drama that the five films, adapted from Stephanie Meyer’s four books, have to offer.
Come for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s romance, and stay for Taylor Lautner’s eager portrayal of Jacob the werewolf in the latter four films. Dakota Fanning makes a great member of the Volturi. Plus, now that the WGA has a deal with the AMPTP, the reboot television series of “Twilight” over at Lionsgate might start back up again soon.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 is considered the worst in the series due to its inconsistent tone, poor visual effects, and lack of a satisfying ending. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 ranks slightly higher because it covers important story elements like Bella's wedding and transformation, despite its cringe-worthy dialogue. New Moon is the most problematic Twilight movie, highlighting Edward's manipulative behavior and Bella's co-dependency, but it sets the stage for development in Bella and Jacob's relationship.
The Twilight Saga wasn’t well-received during its initial release, but with time, it has gathered a wider fanbase, who continue to debate which are the worst and best movies in the saga. Vampires are traditionally depicted as tragic, romantic, but dark creatures, but in 2005, Stephenie Meyer changed the world of vampires with her unique vision of these. In The Twilight Saga, Bella's pregnancy with Renesmee lasted only 28 days due to her hybrid nature as a half-human, half-vampire, causing rapid growth. Renesmee's accelerated growth during her early years was a result of her dhampir hybrid status, reaching full maturity by around seven years old. Bella's life was at risk during her pregnancy as the baby nourished herself by consuming Bella's blood, which led to her transformation into a vampire after giving birth.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 left viewers with many questions regarding Bella Swan's pregnancy, including one about how long it was. The Twilight Saga brought to life Stephenie Meyer's book series, which follows the story of Bella as she's welcomed into the world of vampires and werewolves in Forks, Washington. Warning: This post contains spoilers for Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret
Beloved novelist Judy Blume was able to cameo in the film adaptation of her book Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. Written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, the adaptation follows 11-year-old Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson) as she comes of age and explores her relationship with religion and her changing body after moving from New York City to the suburbs of New Jersey.
It’s taken Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret 53 years to finally make it to the big screen. Now that it’s finally here, Blume has a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it appearance in the film, one that came about because she and Craig were on the same page regarding the author’s cameo. Blume really wanted to have one in the film, and Craig had also discussed her being involved somehow onscreen.

The Twilight Saga ran its course on the big screen, with five movies telling the story of the four books in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. While there are some side stories and reimaginings that could still be brought to the screen, the main tale has been told. Now ten and a half years have gone by since the release of the last film in the franchise… and that means the story is ripe for a re-telling. That’s clearly what Lionsgate Television believes, anyway, as The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that a Twilight TV series is in development!
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the Twilight TV series is in its infancy and does not yet have a network/platform or a writer as sources say the studio, which controls the rights to the franchise, plans to lead the development on the project before shopping the rights to the package.

Bomba Estéreo has made an impact since catapulting onto the global music scene in 2015 with their album "Amanecer" and the hit single "Fiesta," featuring Will Smith. While they've been nominated several times over the years for Grammys, Latin Grammys, and Billboard Music Awards, they have yet to take home a trophy. This year could be their year: Bomba Estéreo is up for four Latin Grammy nominations, including album of the year for "Deja" and record of the year for "Ojitos Lindos," a collaboration with the biggest Latinx star today, Bad Bunny. They're also nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category of best Latin rock, urban, or alternative album for "Deja." Even more, they've solidified themselves as a force behind the scenes, garnering lead singer Liliana Saumet and multi-instrumentalist Simón Mejía with album of the year nominations for a second time: Saumet as a songwriter on Bad Bunny's "Un Verano Sin Ti,...

The clock is ticking on a number of noteworthy titles leaving Netflix this month.
Below, we’ve assembled a complete list of everything leaving Netflix in January 2022, and it includes quite a few films you may want to prioritize on your watchlist. Leaving Jan. 6 is “The Green Knight” filmmaker David Lowery’s quietly mesmerizing drama “A Ghost Story” starring Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara. Also leaving on Jan. 6 is Illumination Entertainment’s animated retelling of “The Lorax,” while Jan. 5 marks the exit date of all five seasons of the Matt LeBlanc comedy series “Episodes.”
But the highest profile departure this month is all five films in the “Twilight” franchise, which are due to leave the streaming service on Jan. 15.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for other films to check out before they depart, the Wachowskis’ epic “Cloud Atlas” and Martin Scorsese’s Leonardo DiCaprio-fronted psychological thriller “Shutter Island” both leave Jan.

Since the 1980s Alberto Iglesias has created beautiful, thrilling music for the screen working broadly throughout his native Spain and Hollywood and with a versatile array of directors and genres—underpinned by his iconic collaborations with Pedro Almodóvar. Iglesias' film suites are fashioned with lucious jazz and emotive orchestral poetry. He beautifully balances the tension of theatrical melodrama with voyages into memory and the vibrancy of inner-city life, with its sophisticated glamour and debauched underbellies. This mix provides a healthy dose of Iglesias collaborations with Almodóvar, from their early years with films such as The Flower of My Secret (1995) and Live Flesh (1997) to this year’s Parallel Mothers and The Human Voice (where Igelsias’s key focus was to riff on his Almodóvar themes of the past). Julio Medem’s Sex and Lucia (2001) defines the 2000s moment of contemporary Spanish cinema’s bursts on the global sphere, soundtracked by that early millenium “Igelsias” sound.

In less than one week's time, The Twilight Saga has taken up half of Netflix's top 10 most popular titles. Consisting of five installments, the vampire romance series began with the release of the original Twilight in 2008. Four sequels would follow in the coming years, concluding with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 in 2012. All five movies began streaming on Netflix on July 16, reintroducing the saga back to the forefront of pop culture with fans reliving the series.
Just five days after The Twilight Saga started streaming on Netflix, Twilight currently sits at No. 3 on the streamer's Top 10 in the U.S. titles list. Let it never be said that the Twilight film franchise doesn’t know how to make an entire movie theater gasp aloud in shock and horror. In 2012, with the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the final installment in the paranormal romance adaptation, it did just that, delivering a twist ending bloodbath that seemed to differ wildly from the book’s canonical conclusion… before immediately backtracking on the entire thing. The movie reveals that the sequence is simply a vision Alice Cullen shares with Michael Sheen’s Volturi leader Aro in order to convince him to settle their families’ vampire disagreement over Renesmee peacefully, which they do. And they all live happily ever after.
“To me, it’s like an eight minute musical number,” director Bill Condon told Vulture in 2012 of the film’s wild climax, adding that he had particular fun deciding who would be killed in the “dream” sequence.

Producers Ben Ferris and Ulysses Oliver will explore the capabilities of filming on a micro-budget in the next few months as they aim to finish production on five features before the end of the year.
The pair came together to form Breathless Films last year and have since outlined a purposely prolific schedule for 2021.
They are in the midst of working on Craig Boreham’s Lonesome, a story about closeted country lad Casey, who finds himself down and out in the big smoke when he meets Tib, a young gay man with whom he is able to connect, albeit with some challenges.
The film, which is being shot in Sydney, stars newcomers Josh Lavery in the role of Casey and Daniel Gabriel as Tib with Anni Finsterer (Sweet Country) and Ian Roberts (Superman Returns) in supporting roles.

A common trend among YA novel movie adaptations is to split the final book (typically the longest installment) into two movies. The Twilight saga movie adaptations hopped on this trend with the choice to split Breaking Dawn into two movies, further popularizing the move with the financial success of both parts.

Both Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Breaking Dawn Part 2 were directed by Bill Condon, who was thought to be a good choice due to his experience with high-budget blockbusters and penchant for creating movies with a fairytale feel. Stephenie Myer was involved in the production of the film, but of course, changes from the source material had to be made.

The Twilight Saga started in movies with Twilight and introduced Bella Swan and Edward Cullen to the world. That movie also introduced the world to Jacob Black as the other part of the love triangle and brought in characters like Bella's dad Charlie and Edward's family with the Cullen clan.

From more members of the werewolf pack to the Volturi and allies of the Cullen family, some great characters came in later years.

Stephenie Meyer was truly on her bullshit when she wrote the Twilight saga, and over a decade later, we are still asking ourselves why we let her get away with it. However you feel about her work, there is no denying the cultural shift that happened when a vampire became a disco ball instead of a pile of ashes when they stepped into the sun. Meyers’… interesting… take on the undead has remained in the public imagination since the first book’s release in 2005, and people are still searching for the why and the how of Meyers’ universe more than 15 years later. The movies did literally nothing to tighten or clarify the books’ logic, but we got Shirtless Taylor Lautner for the duration, and if nothing else that was worth it. There are many questions one might be left with at the end of their Twilight journey, but perhaps the...

A decade ago, Twilight mania had gripped the world, with screaming teenagers and overzealous cougars alike descending into hysteria as the battle lines were drawn between Team Edward and Team Jacob. Very few franchises in history have sparked the sort of delirium in a fanbase that the big screen adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s novels did, which gained a rabid following that a lot of people just couldn’t wrap their heads around since none of the movies are particularly good.
The first and last installments currently hold the highest Rotten Tomatoes scores out of the entire series with a middling 49%, but box office takings were through the roof. The Twilight Saga raked in over $3.3 billion globally and sold in excess of 50 million copies on home video in the United States alone, but in recent times, the sparkly vampires have become more likely to be the butt of a joke after infiltrating popular culture.

Join me in saying ‘Aaah, vindication’. Okay, the moment’s over since there’s still the reality that Breaking Dawn, as well as the other Twilight movies, made a fortune because they played upon the sensibilities of young girls and mothers that wanted to see the male stars with their shirts off. If that sounded creepy to you then don’t worry, it was entirely creepy to a lot of people. Breaking Dawn actually had a chance to be one of the best in the bunch since they had a great fight at the end…that turned out to be nothing more than a

Like most people who owned Team Edward shirts in 2009, I remember the Twilight novels for the cringey dialogue, the iconic love triangle, and the hand-wringing over its supposedly anti-feminist protagonist, Bella Swan. But when I recently revisited the saga to prepare for Midnight Sun, I came to an interesting conclusion: the way Stephenie Meyer represents Bella's agency as a character is actually sort of progressive.
Bella is often dismissed as a personality-less character, but her actions across the novels reveal much more depth. Bella is shown to be selfless, brave, sarcastic, and stubborn; she's also uncannily mature to the point where she's constantly referred to as an "old soul." Bella continually puts herself on the line to save people she loves, jokes around with Edward (something the melodramatic film adaptations leave out), and, most of all, refuses to back down when she wants something (especially when that something is superhot...

It's been 15 years since Stephenie Meyer released Twilight, but the fandom is stronger than ever thanks to the release of her new book, Midnight Sun. The much-anticipated book finally hit shelves on Aug. 4, and it retells the events of the first book from Edward Cullen's point of view.
You might think that a story you already know the ending to wouldn't be nearly as captivating as the original, but fans are eating it up. Not only does it give us a glimpse into Edward's tortured mind (all 662 pages worth), but it also reveals some interesting new details about the characters. As Meyer puts it, "Some people are going to like some characters more, and they're going to like some characters less, because not only is he spending time with them that way, but he is reading their minds all the time."

The latest Twilight book, Midnight Sun, released earlier this month and blew fans of the saga away by giving them a fresh perspective on the story through the eyes of Edward Cullen.
As you’d expect, the new novel instantly became a hit and reached No. 1 on Amazon’s Best Sellers list, with more than one million copies sold in just a week. While Meyer has marketed Midnight Sun as a sequel, the book is actually a retelling of the story but from Edward’s Pov. If you’re a fan of the saga and don’t find the new release that compelling to invest in the novel, then the fact that the writer has added a scene missing from the original book might be enough to lure you in.
It seems, though, that Meyer isn’t done with the franchise just yet. And why would she be? Fans have...

Like Edward Cullen, Midnight Sun is older than it looks. Stephenie Meyer’s retelling of Twilight, her iconic Ya novel of female desire, from the perspective of the smoldering vampire lover was first teased back in 2008, around the release of the final book, Breaking Dawn. At the time, Meyer announced that she would not be finishing the manuscript, as the first twelve chapters had leaked online and she felt like she had lost control of the story. By the time she warmed again to the idea, over the intervening years, the project was again derailed by the emergence of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey (based on James’ Twilight fanfic) and its own reversed-perspective retelling, Grey.
Then, suddenly, this past May, it was announced that Midnight Sun would be published in just a few months. With no real context for why the book is finally seeing the light of day,...

There’s a very good chance we’re going to read Midnight Sun, the companion novel to pop culture juggernaut Twilight that retells the first story in the Stephanie Meyer Ya vampire series from Edward Cullen’s perspective. But we can enjoy something while also being critical of it, and the truth is: our culture deserves more, better vampire stories than what the Twilight saga has to offer. With that in mind, we’ve pooled our collective knowledge to recommend the following vampire stories that have more diverse and imaginative takes on the popular genre. From short stories to book series, hopefully there’s something here for you…
Fledgling by Octavia Butler
A good general rule of life to follow is that if Octavia Butler has written something in a particular genre, you should read it. And that’s as true in the world of vampire fiction as anywhere else.

It’s been almost exactly 12 years since the publication of Breaking Dawn, the last entry in the Twilight series. A lot has happened over that time, but despite everything else going on right now, it’s time to revisit one of the truly important questions of the 21st century: Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?
Author Stephenie Meyer announced back in the spring that the long-awaited Midnight Sun was finally getting an official release. Yesterday, the book, which retells the first Twilight novel from the point of view of Edward Cullen, hit shelves around the world and while fans who got into the saga as teenagers are now adults, they’re still loving those sexy, glittery vampires.
Here’s a selection of responses from social media:

The new Twilight novel will focus on Edward’s perspective of the events that led him to fall in love with Bella, but it seems that Stephenie Meyer intends to include new scenes in the story as well.
Barring the highly-successful movie adaptations, fans of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan have gone through quite a drought since the last book, Breaking Dawn, came out almost 12 years ago. Creator Stephenie Meyer originally intended to write another sequel though that would serve as a retelling of the story and focus on Edward’s perspective, as opposed to Bella who was the sole narrator of the events. A couple of the book’s chapters even found their way online, but the writer ultimately decided to drop the project. Now, it seems that she’s found the passion to explore these characters once again, as the new book, titled Midnight Sun, will complete that long-forsaken goal.

Twelve years after the last book in the Twilight series, it’s time to once again decide whether you’re on Team Edward or Team Jacob.
Author Stephenie Meyer recently announced that the long-awaited novel Midnight Sun is set for an official release on August 4th, 2020. Interestingly, this isn’t a direct continuation or even a prequel to the existing story, but rather a retelling of the first Twilight from the point of view of Edward Cullen.
The intention of the book is to show us how Edward reacted to Bella coming into his life. This will specifically explore his feelings on meeting his ‘singer’ (a human whose blood is more tempting than anyone else’s). We’ll see Edward discussing Bella with his fellow vampires, more detail into the lives of the Olympic Coven, their perspective on regular humans and the specifics of Edward’s trip to Alaska after his first meeting with Bella.
