Childhood 2.0 (2020)

Not Rated | | Documentary | 26 August 2020 (USA)
The mental health of our children is statistically at an all-time low. Kids spend more time online and less engaging in real life, free play and autonomy. Childhood was more or less unchanged for a millennia, this is Childhood 2.0.

Storyline

For the first time in history, mental illness and suicide have become one of the greatest threats to school-aged children in America. Many parents still view dangers as primarily physical and external and are missing the real danger: constant connectivity's pervasive internal assault on mental health. This film is an exploration of the dramatic technological and cultural shift that children and parents have faced since the rise of social networks and mobile devices. Childhood 2.0 dives into the issues of addiction and withdrawal, anxiety and depression, online abuse and bullying, the pervasiveness of pornography, the culture of sexting and unforeseen consequences, the rise of online pedophilia and sexual predators, the loss of free play and autonomy and the rapid growth of suicide among children and teens. Eye Opening Film!

WOW! To say I was blind to the dangers kids are facing online these days would be an understatement. This film really goes in depth and shows you how the internet, smart phones, and social media have completely changed the landscape for teens and tweens. Experts and real families share their stories and insight, there is so much for everyone to learn. This is a must see for everyone but especially parents.
