Trivia

The color-shifting 1967 Pontiac GTO delivered back to Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) by Darius Stone (Ice Cube) at the end of this film is the same SFX "Flame Car" last seen atop the Charles Bridge in Prague, along with Asia Argento and Samuel L. Jackson in xXx (2002). This muscle car has been in a private collection ever since, and still retains most of the original film's Special Effects equipment on-board as constructed for the various practical effect sequences (flame thrower, rocket launcher, ejected hardtop roof, gauges and weaponry, et cetera). Goofs

When Xander first meets Serena at the party on the island she is wearing a pair of thigh-length boots with very high heels; later, when we see her on the beach after the fight and motorbike chase, she is wearing boots of the same design, but now with a more practical flat heel. See more »

Quotes

Xander Cage: [Upon seeing Darius Stone arrive in Xander's long-lost 1967 Pontiac GTO musclecar] That's a hell of a car!
Darius Stone: Yeah. Gibbons told me to keep an eye on it. He said I'd know why when I need to know why. Now I know why.
Xander Cage: It's exactly the way I left it.
Darius Stone: I took it on a date or two.
Xander Cage: [laughs, with a wink]

Not much

This movie was pretty awful on so many levels. First, Diesel seems to sleep walk through his lines and scenes. The slight tilt of the head and cute smirk got old after the first 5 minutes. Donnie Yen's fight scenes were really good, and that's about the best this film brings. The writing was atrocious. The snarky, too-cute and cliché lines at every turn. I didn't know if I was watching a movie or reading the one-liner comebacks from a comedy show. It's too bad because this movie had a good cast. Toni Colette needs to stick to heavier roles; she looked out of place in this role. And more Samuel Jackson. I've been hoping for better films to come out of the new China-owned studios, but so many have disappointed lately. Maybe Jet Li could have saved this film, I'm not sure.
