Re-enactment with a synthesize
head4space6 November 2020
I've seen better acting from the local civil war reenactment group. The opening scenes was a pitiful display of the directors interpretative of what's written in the synopsis and does little if anything to realise it but to annoy the viewer with the same lame scenes on repeat coupled with a dreadful score. 6.1!? I don't think so

Low production values

Seemed like a re-enactment with a weak story line laid over the top. The acting was a bit wooden, the production values were okay for a re-enactment but well below par for a film, the set were primitive and very limited with the battle for Atlanta being fought by maybe 50 or less troops!

FYI my DVD was titled "1864 The battle of Atlanta - A burning city under siege"

Poor all the way around.

Poor acting. Poor "action" scenes. Poor quality cinematography. It was almost like watching and listening to a stage performance done in a budget theater. It was actually hard to watch. The bits of history were almost lost with how distracting the rest was, and the o kt reason for 2 stars instead of one. It was only gross fascination that kept us watching.

So laconic and lazy it is almost impossible to watch.

From the opening shots until the merciful end this is an incredibly awful movie. If the Battle for Atlanta was this laid back lazy and disorganized Shermancould have walked down Peachtree street and strucka match with little to no resistance. Iveseenbetter direction and acting in badHigh School plays. Thhe only thing believable is that the director had no clue what he was doing, no budget for extras or effects, and no talent pool for casting. I wasted money and time that I will never get back on thus film. Do yourself a favor and leave it alone as it deserves.

Almost suitable for a guided meditation

The battle scenes were balletic creating a Lotus Eaters effect and the cannonades with smoke blossoms were as relaxting as distant thunder. The manouvers on hoof and foot had all the sedateness captured in the term "manana". The dialogue has the vivacity and stiffnecked emphasis of a Victorian teacher speaking clearly and emphatically to to a child of slow comprehension. The burning wood had a relaxing effect with gentle crackling and music. Could replace counting of sheep. The faces of the characters were of a mature quality so at variance with today's preoccupation with Youth Culture where some boys are prettier than girls. The Largoesque deliver of dialogue failed to evoke any deph of suffering or hardship. A must watch (not necessarily all of it) with glases of red wine or legal marijuana.

Highly overlooked movie of tremendous historical value!! Top notch musical score, choreography & acting at Oscar worthy level. Should be shown in schools & universities across the country.
