In the opening monologue, seagulls Gertrude and Heathcliffe drop by for a gag, and Skelton jokes about kids and Santa Claus and concludes with a pantomime about shoplifters and pickpockets at Christmas. The title of the Silent Spot is "The Gift of Giving" in which Pop the Shoeshine Man exhibits the Christmas spirit to a homeless mother and daughter.
