Teacher Ted is the star of the show at the writer's circle, he raises a few eyebrows when he announces that he's bumping off his central character, his Cory world however is threatened when a new writer, Trafford arrives.
If ever a television series episode was perfect for adaptation for the stage, it's this one, how wonderfully well this would work.
The very definition of bittersweet, it perhaps takes a bit of a pop at insular village life, Ted, who's clearly lived a very safe and cosy life, has his whole world turned upside down when he's challenged.
One of the most competent episodes so far, it's so wonderfully rich, the characters are so wonderfully rich, but it's all of the burning passions and pent-up desires that make it so good, it's beautifully realised.
Ok, so it's hard to look at Ted as a sex symbol, but you can't deny Colin Welland's charisma, Gwen Taylor and Thorley Walters are bit very good, Rosamund Greenwood however is a scream as the sexually frustrated Mabs.
Quality.
9/10.
