After a New York press conference, crown prince James Galant and his mother queen-widow Gabriella of Galwick get stranded, with only body guard-driver Christopher, missing he plane unlike most of their retinue, in a New England small town. He's grumpy, having to spend the night at a remote inn, shown by nurse Anna, whose mother is its cook. The queen instantly enjoys reconnecting with her pre-royal youth. James slowly warms to small pleasures and especially Anna, who turns out to work on the Boston cardiac ward where the late king praised the staff. Sharing seasonal traditions, several days as snow blocks the roads, Cupid matches James with Anna, and Christopher with her reporter mate.
