Not Bad
I quite enjoyed this episode and it's interesting that the show has become unpredictable and we don't know what's gonna happen or how it's going to end.
I read another review that said this one was disappointing because of the 30-day jump and that there is no build-up, which I completely agree but not in this case. It didn't bother me that much for this episode. The sometimes-no-build-up thing they got in this show is a problem that I've had for a long and I think it hurts the show.
But why didn't it bother me that they did a 30-day jump into our characters being citizens of Commonwealth?
Because we already saw that build-up and introduction in the previous part of this season with Ezekiel and Princes. We already know the protocols of getting into the Commonwealth. In fact, it was like 2 or 3 episode of introducing Commonwealth through Princes and Ezekiel. So why would they do that again? Wouldn't that be redundant?
It's not like we have no idea what this place is and who the guy in the suit is and now all of a sudden Daryl and Carol has become a law-abiding citizen of that community, they've already introduced them.
Yes the Alexandria introduction that was in the 5th season I think was really good and it worked really well. But I do think it would've been redundant to show how the gang got into this town and waste like half and episode or more, when they have already dedicated a couple of episode at the beginning of this season.
Other than that, I thought the episode was ok with some interesting plots being developed and it's a change of pace. I don't really an opinion about whether the plots are good or interesting enough as this is kinda the beginning and we have to see more to decide.
It was interesting to see how Judith who has been on the run and fighting zombies from birth is adapting to this "normal" life, and also other characters finding jobs based on their real-world jobs.
So far it's interesting enough and we have to see what they have in store for the rest of the season.
Only thing disappointing with this season was how they butchered the potential of the Reapers being a terrifying and menacing enemy, but I hope we get more interesting plots from now on.
