Somehow, the ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Guys Are Pulling Off A ‘Mad Men’ Reunion
Image
Jon Hamm and John Slattery will work together again on David Wain and Ken Marino’s new R-rated comedy that currently remains untitled, but I bet they have someone on the team who can come up with something marketable.

Early on in their careers, Wain and Marino had a habit of turning relatively-to-completely unknown actors into massive stars through projects like their cult-hit comedy Wet Hot American Summer. Between Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler alone, the veterans of the massively influential sketch comedy group The State are some of the most important kingmakers in the history of comedy, TV and film, and their breakthrough hit parody of 1980s teen sex comedies spawned both a prequel and a sequel series on Netflix that attracted big-name talent.

For Wain and Marino’s next project, they’re returning to the R-rated sex comedy format, only, instead of turning their actors into Emmy-worthy A-listers,...

‘Mad Men’ Cast: What Are They Doing in 2025?
Image
Can you believe it’s been nearly a decade since Don Draper meditated his way into creating the most legendary Coke ad in TV history? Mad Men wrapped up in 2015, but its cast? Still everywhere, some in your favorite shows, others totally off the radar. From high-fashion red carpets to indie film sets to unexpected career pivots, this crew didn’t just fade into the smoke-filled offices of Sterling Cooper.

Jon Hamm went full Hollywood heartthrob, Elisabeth Moss kept dominating TV like a boss, and January Jones, well, she’s still keeping us guessing on Instagram. The drama might’ve ended, but we’re still obsessed with where everyone ended up. If you ever wondered what Peggy, Roger, or even little Sally Draper are doing in 2025, you’re in the right place. Warning, this may spark a sudden urge to rewatch all seven seasons. Martini not included.

Sundance 2025: Conan O’Brien, Juliette Lewis, Steven Yeun and More Hit Park City | Photos
Image
The 2025 Sundance Film Festival hit Park City, Utah, once again this year, bringing out Hollywood A-listers to toast independent cinema, find a home for their latest passion projects and find a warm place to land in the otherwise chilly, mountainous city.

Kicking off Thursday and running through Feb. 2, the independent film festival has so far highlighted excellent new work from writer and director James Sweeney with “Twinless,” in which co-stars with Dylan O’Brien (pictured below); a riveting and emotionally knotty two-hander called “Jimpa,” starring John Lithgow as a late-blooming gay man and Olivia Colman as the daughter he left behind; Juliette Lewis as a chair in the body-swap satire “By Design”; and the new music documentary from Oscar winner Questlove, “Sly Lives! (aka The Burden of Black Genius).”

And all of that on just Day 1! Also along for the ride promoting their latest works and celebrating their peers’ latest were Sarah Jessica Parker,...

Greg Mottola at an event for Adventureland (2009)
‘Confess, Fletch’ Sequel Derailed by “Fletch Curse,” Director Greg Mottola Reveals
Greg Mottola at an event for Adventureland (2009)
Acclaimed director Greg Mottola has revealed that his plans for a sequel to Confess, Fletch, starring Jon Hamm as the iconic investigator Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher, have been scrapped due to interference from the film’s studio.

Mottola, known for helming comedic hits like Superbad, had written a script based on Gregory Mcdonald’s 1978 Fletch novel Fletch’s Fortune. But the director claims Miramax, which controls the rights to the book franchise, shut down the project under new leadership without giving the follow-up a chance.

“I was told the first film lost money, though no real effort was made to promote it,” Mottola lamented on social media. “Feature comedy is a tough sell these days.”

The setback is just the latest in a long line of obstacles for the beloved Fletch character. Originally made famous by Chevy Chase in 1985’s Fletch and its 1989 sequel, multiple attempts over the years to bring...

Greg Mottola at an event for Adventureland (2009)
Confess, Fletch | Sequel isn’t happening says director Greg Mottola
Greg Mottola at an event for Adventureland (2009)
“My comedy is too dry and unsentimental for the new masters,” says Greg Mottola of his cancelled Confess, Fletch sequel.

A planned sequel to the 2022 comedy Confess, Fletch is no longer happening, its director and co-writer Greg Mottola has confirmed. Jon Hamm, who played the title role of Irwin ‘Fletch’ Fletcher, was keen to return for at least one further film, and a script had been written, but a changing of executives at Miramax appears to have ended the chances of it getting made.

“Alas, the new head of Miramax, who controls the rights to all the books, shot down my sequel project,” Mottola wrote in response to a post written by critic Bilge Ebiri on Twitter/X/Muskbook. “The Fletch curse got me.”

With that response triggering messages from other users who expressed their affection for the comedy thriller, Mottola responded with some surprisingly candid insights into the sequel’s cancellation.

Jon Hamm, Caitlin Zerra Rose, and Lorenza Izzo in Confess, Fletch (2022)
‘Confess, Fletch’ Director Says Sequel Not Moving Forward: “I’ve Been Rather Depressed About It”
Jon Hamm, Caitlin Zerra Rose, and Lorenza Izzo in Confess, Fletch (2022)
Fans of the Fletch franchise might need to console themselves with a steak sandwich or two.

Greg Mottola, who directed the 2022 feature Confess, Fletch, took to social media to give an update about his planned sequel to the film that starred Jon Hamm as Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher. Hailing from Miramax, Mottola’s movie rebooted the character that originated in author Gregory Mcdonald’s novel series and was memorably played by Chevy Chase in the 1985 comedy Fletch and its sequel four years later.

After film critic Bilge Ebiri posted this week on X (formerly Twitter) that Hollywood should make more Fletch movies, Mottola pointed out that his sequel to Confess, Fletch was no longer in development, with the director attributing the setback to a change of leadership at Miramax. At the time of the Confess, Fletch release, Mottola said in an interview that he had already been hired to write a...

Confess, Fletch director Greg Mottola says the series “curse” got him; no sequel currently planned
Image
Fletch may have once lived but he is indeed now dead — or, the future of his movies are, at least. Greg Mottola, who resurrected the snarky private investigator (and Los Angeles Lakers’ #99) in 2022, has confirmed that the future of the character is as dead as a doornail, with no sequel planned for Confess, Fletch.

Posting to social media this week, Greg Mottola confirmed that the Fletch series will once again lay dormant, with the director having brought back the character — via Jon Hamm — more than 30 years after Fletch Lives. “Alas, the new head of Miramax, who controls the rights to all the books, shot down my sequel project. The Fletch curse got me.” Mottola is here referring to the numerous attempts to get the character back on the big screen, with various iterations involving Kevin Smith (easily the most vocal supporters of another Fletch), Bill Lawrence and more seeing differing levels of hope.

'I Will Walk Away From This': Jon Hamm Recalls Nearly Quitting Mad Men
Image
Mad Men star Jon Hamm was prepared to walk away from the acclaimed series for being underpaid at a certain point during its run. The actor played the charismatic ad executive Don Draper for seven seasons on the iconic show.

Hamm discussed his stellar career in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where the actor recalled being prepared to leave Mad Men after Season 4. "There was definitely a moment on Mad Men where I was wildly underpaid, and that was corrected. And you go, 'Ok, good,'" he said. "But it came with a fair amount of wrestling. I was like, 'Guys, heres the deal, I will walk away from this. You need to know that.'" Hamm reiterated his resolve when asked if he would have left the series definitively, adding, "Absolutely. It was after Season 4, which was really difficult for me. I was like, 'Call my bluff.'...

Jon Hamm Still Wants to Join the Marvel Cinematic Universe: ‘I Hope I Get a Chance’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe faces a crossroads after the disappointing performance of “The Marvels,” but that hasn’t stopped Hollywood A-listers from dreaming about joining the massive superhero franchise.

I would love to,” Hamm said when asked about a potential Marvel gig. “I’ve been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. ‘Mad Men’ Stars Jon Hamm & Anna Osceola Marry In Big Sur Wedding
Image
Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola tied the knot in Big Sur, California, on Sunday.

Their wedding took place in the same location where they filmed the Mad Men finale in Anderson Canyon.

The star-studded wedding had some famous guests, including Tina Fey, Billy Crudup and Paul Rudd.

The two walked down the aisle to the James Bond 1967 movie You Only Live Twice theme song.

The couple first met back in 2015 on the set of Mad Men. In 2020, they were seen together romantically on several occasions, including on coffee runs together. A few weeks later they confirmed that they were dating.

In September 2021, they went on their first vacation together to Italy.

In March 2022, they stepped onto the red carpet together for the first time at an Oscars afterparty. After this, they were spotted at several screenings, including the movie they both star in Confess, Fletch. They also attended the musical...

Jon Hamm And Anna Osceola Get Married
Image
Jon Hamm is officially a married man!

“Mad Men” admirers may not exactly relish in this news, but the star synonymous with Don Draper has tied the knot in real life. The actor, 52, wed fiancée Anna Osceola, 35, on Saturday in Big Sur, according to TMZ.

The outlet reports that Hamm and Osceola tied the knot at a ceremony in Anderson Canyon in Big Sur. The star-studded guest list included Billy Crudup, Paul Rudd and Tina Fey.

The nuptials come months after the news broke in February 2023 that Hamm had proposed to the actress, who appeared opposite her now-husband in the finale episode of “Mad Men” back in 2015. However, it was not until 2020 that they were reported to be dating. They went on to make their red carpet debut as a couple at Oscar parties in 2022. ‘Maggie Moore(s)’ Review: Jon Hamm and Tina Fey Will Make You Wish This Dark Crime Comedy Were a Rom-Com
Image
If his post-“Mad Men” career has taught us anything, it’s that Jon Hamm is a natural comic actor who happens to be great in dramatic roles rather than the other way around. At the risk of downplaying his exemplary work as Don Draper, the 52-year-old has seemed most in his element in the likes of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and especially last year’s criminally underseen “Confess, Fletch.” “Maggie Moore(s)” finds him somewhere in the middle of the comedy/drama spectrum as a small-town police chief investigating the murders of two women with the same name — an intriguing premise to be sure, but one that Hamm’s “Mad Men” co-star John Slattery, in his sophomore directorial effort, struggles to bring to a satisfying conclusion.

Part of the problem is that it isn’t actually a mystery. Beginning with a title card informing us that “some of this actually happened,...

‘Succession’: Why Kendall Is Wearing a Flashy Richard Mille Watch and Cousin Greg Rocks a Rolex “Pepsi” GMT
Image
Kendall Roy’s new watch on the latest and final season of Succession is hardly a quiet luxury.

The Roy scion — who on earlier seasons favored timepieces by more traditional makers like Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe — is now rocking a much flashier item on his wrist: a sporty Rm 67-01 by Richard Mille that qualifies as a ten-table watch (meaning a watch that’s ostentatious enough to be noticeable by people 10 tables away at a restaurant).

Richard Mille Rm 67-01

The watch is hardly there by mistake. Its presence signals the new chapter in Kendall’s life as he and brother Roman take the reins of their father’s company, and it was personally chosen by actor Jeremy Strong after an exec at Richard Mille sent it to him. “Those are all things that I do on my own because those details just feel really important to me, and...

There’s something about Jon Hamm and crime thrillers, especially mysteries, that seem to fit well together. And that's even more so after the success of Confess, Fletch (2022), which reconfirms that the Mad Men star can play a great detective. And that’s why we cannot wait for Maggie Moore(s). The new black comedy mystery film sees Hamm as a small-town police officer faced with a strange set of murders. Set in an unassuming, dusty little town in Arizona, Maggie Moore(s) follows police chief Jordan Sanders (Hamm) who has to suddenly get all hands on deck to solve the murders of two women, both with the same name. But things escalate and get out of hand quicker than he expected.

Jon Hamm Joins ‘Mean Girls’ Musical
Lacey Chabert, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Amanda Seyfried in Mean Girls (2004)
The “Mean Girls” musical has cast “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm as Coach Carr. The Emmy-winning actor and star of “Confess, Fletch” and “Beirut” will play the school’s gym teacher and sex-ed instructor. The film will adapt the Broadway musical, which in turn was an adaptation of the 2004 theatrical comedy “Mean Girls.”

The Paramount film, about a teen girl who moves from Africa with her anthropologist parents and finds herself unprepared for the community dynamics of an American public high school earned solid reviews and grossed $130 million worldwide on a $17 million budget in early 2004, becoming a generational touchstone on par with “Clueless” and “Heathers.” This live-action musical version will debut on Paramount+.

Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola are reportedly set to tie the knot after two years of dating.

According to People, Hamm, 51, recently popped the question after first meeting Osceola, 34, on the set of “Mad Men” back in 2015.

Despite keeping their private lives on the down low, both opting to stay away from social media, they’ve been pictured together on numerous occasions.

They were first romantically linked in 2020 after Hamm split from his partner of 18 years, Jennifer Westfeldt, in 2015.

Hamm’s rep is yet to comment on the news, People stated.

Confess, Fletch 2 Script In Development Despite Uncertain Greenlight
Image
Confess, Fletch 2 is being written even though the movie has not yet been greenlit, reveals the first film’s writer-director. Gregory Mcdonald wrote the Fletch series of novels beginning in 1974, and saw his wisecracking main character I.M. Fletcher spawn a 1985 movie starring Chevy Chase. Then last year, the character of Fletch returned to movie screens with Confess, Fletch, an adaptation of Mcdonald’s 1976 book, with Jon Hamm taking on the lead role. The new movie came and went rather quietly at the box office however, grossing just 656,000 after barely being marketed. But Confess, Fletch did garner strong critical response, holding an 85 score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie may indeed have plenty of champions among critics and on social media, but given the tepid general audience response to Confess, Fletch, it’s no surprise that a sequel has not yet been officially greenlit.

If You Ask Chevy Chase, Barely Anything From Fletch's Script Made It Onto Film
Image
The "Fletch" movies have always been the product of turmoil. I.M. Fletcher, a hybrid private eye and journalist, made his first appearance in Gregory McDonald's 1974 novel "Fletch," following the investigator as he looks into a shady but tempting offer from a fat cat billionaire. His big-screen debut came in Michael Ritchie's ("Bad News Bears") 1985 feature of the same name, starring Chevy Chase in the lead role of the loose adaptation; it was a box-office smash. Four years later, the sequel "Fletch Lives" saw Chase and Ritchie reprising their respective roles in a follow-up Roger Ebert once described as a "dispirited slog through the rummage sale of movie cliches."

Since then, Fletch has undergone more iterations than his numerous implausible identities. The most talked about version is Kevin Smith's unproduced "Fletch Won," which he envisioned as a Miramax vehicle for "Mallrats" star and frequent Smith collaborator Jason Lee.

John Carpenter Wanted to Quit Hollywood After ‘Horror Show’ of ‘Memoirs of an Invisible Man’
Image
John Carpenter prefers to experience horror onscreen, not on set.

The legendary director, while reflecting on his decades-spanning career, admitted that he nearly walked away from filmmaking after the experience of 1992’s “Memoirs of an Invisible Man.” Based on H. F. Saint’s 1987 science fiction novel, the film starred Chevy Chase as a businessman who becomes invisible after an experimental procedure. Frequent Carpenter collaborator Sam Neill plays a government operative who tries to capture Chase’s character. Daryl Hannah, Michael McKean, and Stephen Tobolowsky also star.

“Chevy Chase, Sam Neill — who I love and had a longtime friendship with — and Warner Bros., I worked for them, and it was pleasant,” Carpenter told Variety, before adding, “No, it wasn’t pleasant at all. I’m lying to you. It was a horror show. I really wanted to quit the business after that movie.”

Carpenter continued, “God, I don’t want to talk about why,...

Jack Lowden in Benediction (2021)
The 10 Best Films of 2022, from ‘Eo’ to ‘Rrr’
Jack Lowden in Benediction (2021)
The ten best films of 2022, in five double features:

10. “Benediction” and 9. “Bros”

How does one become a fully integrated member of society — an artist, a lover, a participant in the marketplace of ideas — when that society constantly rejects your very presence and participation? Two of this year’s best took very different looks at gay creatives looking for love and fulfillment, about a century apart; “Benediction,” Terence Davies’ haunting biopic of WWI poet Siegfried Sassoon (Jack Lowden) takes a much different path than the raucous rom-com starring and co-written by Billy Eichner, but both films followed men seeking their heart’s desire in a world that judges that desire. (The exceptional LGBTQ films “Fire Island” and “The Inspection” fit this category as well.)

8. “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” and 7. “Women Talking”

10 Popular TV Actors With A Failed Film Career, According To Reddit
Image
Alongside Jon Bernthal and Steven Yeun, Danai Gurira has had one of the most successful film careers following a prominent role on The Walking Dead. Known for playing the katana-wielding Michonne in the apocalypse drama, she is sore to new heights with Marvel's Black Panther, and its 2022 sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

However, not every actor can seamlessly transition from the small to big screens, whether it was due to poor script choices or bad timing, with very few hits in between. Users of Reddit have spoken about which popular television actors didn't have the most successful secondary film career, with some even returning to television.

Mary Louise Parker

Reddit user rexcog feels that Mary Louise Parker "didn't make a splash at cinemas" in her post-Weeds film career. The Emmy Award-winning actress played marijuana entrepreneur Nancy Botwin on the Showtime dramedy for six seasons.

The Best Movie Posters Of 2022
Image
It’s been a fun year for posters, hasn’t it? From the major marketing fail of the poster for “The Northman” that simply forgot the title to the optical illusions of “Nope” and the inexplicable vintage flair of “Confess Fletch,” those fearing that the art of poster design as exactly that, an art, can and should rest easy.

There is, as always, a war between contractual obligations that demand certain actors to have a certain amount of pixel space and the desires of innovative artists to do more than just get bums on seats.

John Slattery: ‘When Jon Hamm walked into a room as Don Draper, people would go catatonic’
Image
John Slattery looks terrible. “I hate to dash your hopes,” the 60-year-old tells me down the phone from New York. “I’m in sweats. I’m making a cup of tea. I’ve just exercised. I…” He pauses, grasping for the right word to describe his current ghoulishness. He sighs. “I look like s***.” I can’t verify the alleged horror-show that is his appearance, but I’m not sure I believe him. Not John Slattery? Not Mad Men’s impeccably tailored bon vivant Roger Sterling? But he’s the king of pocket squares! With hair as white and well-coiffed as a Dulux pup!

Slattery is ruining his public image while at home with his pet dog circling his feet, his voice, at least, just as we remember it – that smooth, honeyed cadence that makes him Hollywood’s go-to for raconteurs, statesmen and authority figures. Tony Stark’s industrialist dad in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

‘Barbarian’ Scares Up Big VOD Views Despite Streaming
Image
With all the (justified) media notice of the surprise success of micro-budget horror film “Terrifier 2” (Iconic), studio-made but still low-budget “Barbarian” (Disney/3.99) is adding to its much bigger take with an amazing response on multiple home platforms.

The 4.5 million budget release from their Fox unit isn’t remotely aligned with what Disney ownership sees as a priority in their productions. It already has an over 40 million domestic theatrical gross.

It popped up on both HBO Max and Hulu 45 days after theatrical release. The availability came with no PVOD first, which is somewhat different than is typically seen from many studios taking the direct revenue from rentals and purchases ahead of subscriber-based streaming appeal.

The most amazing note on “Barbarian” is that it is #1 at Vudu, which ranks by revenue and usually favors higher-priced titles. An explanation could be that its 14.99 download sales boosted its figures. At iTunes and Google Play,...
