    Flash without lightning
The premise for "Bighoof Walking" didn't really appeal to me that much, sounding very predictable and thin. It was still watched anyway because of Fluttershy thus far being the least problematically written of the characters up to this point of the show, despite not being crazy about any of the episodes centered around her so far. Rainbow Dash, like most of the other characters, has been inconsistently characterised, but actually really liked the concept for "The Fluttershy Effect" due to it being quite imaginative for the show.

Like all the other episodes of 'My Little Pony: Pony Life', neither "Bighoof Walking" or "The Fluttershy Effect" did much for me. The latter is the better one of the two, namely of the premise being a lot more interesting. But even then a lot more could have been done with it. "Bighoof Walking" is as mundane and predictable as it sounded on paper and never got off the ground. Neither are quite among the worst of 'My Little Pony: Pony Life', but there is a lot here that gives a very good indication of what is wrong with the show.

Only the voice acting is consistently good and "The Fluttershy Effect" did start with a lot of promise.

"Bighoof Walking" suffers from a paper thin, slow moving and very over simple and predictable story. Further disadvantaged as well by some very childish and unfunny humour and Fluttershy having very little personality. "The Fluttershy Effect" sounded interesting and creative, and while it starts intriguingly and with more imagination than the previous episodes it becomes very conventional once Rainbow Dash realises the problem and badly under-explores the concept. It feels very rushed and tries to do too much in the second half and the ending is very anti-climactic. Rainbow Dash has more personality than Fluttershy, but her flaws are taken a little too much to extremes.

Individual problems with both episodes are the same pretty much, apart from differences in story execution. There is nothing imaginative or vibrant about the animation, which is rushed and careless looking throughout. Indicative of rushed deadlines and low budget. The music is like cheesy high school quality and never fits with what goes on. The theme tune is grating. The writing is limp and unimaginative.

All the writing is limp and over silly, with very little inventive. Especially in "Bighoof Walking" and the one exception being the early stages of "The Fluttershy Effect". Neither story works at all, the former being dull and predictable, the other initially promising but cramped and rushed and would have leant itself much better to a 22 minute episode. Charm and soul are completely absent and again a bad job is done making the show accessible for a wide audience, due to the immature humour and the reinforcing of the gender and age bracket stereotype that is associated with 'My Little Pony'.

Very weak on the whole. 3/10.
