    Storyline

    Edit
The "Dancing with the Stars" premiere week event finally drew to a close with the third consecutive episode on Wednesday, a one-hour results show that would boot the second of the 13 couples that started the competition on Monday night.

The pros kicked off the night with a group routine to Queen's "Under Pressure."

To the recap: Toni Braxton led the highlight reel with her quick step, followed by Warren Sapp, who impressed everyone with his lightness on his feet. " In the middle of the pack were Lance Bass and Ted McGinley. "You can guarantee we're going to work hard," McGinley said. "I may not be the most talented, but I'm going to work hardest."

Misty May Treanor and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were OK with the 21 score that landed them in the middle of the pack. Maurice Greene was just as happy with his 21, shouting, "winner, winner, chicken dinner!" Rocco DiSpirito finally got his hips loosened up to the point that his partner Karina Smirnoff said she got whiplash from his hip action.

Susan Lucci found her groove in ballroom with a rockin' quickstep. "I really felt like I was flying," Susan said. Cody went from being a boy to a man with a distinguished quick step and showed off a deeper voice to prove the point. But others were left near the bottom of the pack, including Cloris Leachman, who has raised more eyebrows than judges' points with her antics the first two nights. Kim's bootylicious mambo fell flat.

But Brooke Burke stole the show with what judge Len Goodman the best dance so far.

To the results...: In no particular order, the first couple revealed as safe was Brooke & Derek. Also continuing on to next week were Kim & Mark.

Welcome back: Since Jeffrey Ross and Edyta Sliwinska got voted off before they could show off the quick step that they'd spent five weeks learning, they got a chance to perform it Wednesday.

More results...: The next couple continuing to the next round was Cloris & Corky. That meant that the judges' two lowest scorers were safe, which could make for an interesting finish.

Be our guest...: Jesse McCartney performed, and Adam Carolla did a man-on-the-street feature about the show, summing it up with, "People love 'Dancing with the Stars' ... and it didn't do enough for my career to get me out of this gig." The Jonas Brothers stopped by to perform a bit later.

More good news: Another safe couple, in no particular order, was ... Maurice & Cheryl. Later, Misty & Maks were deemed safe, followed by Warren & Kym. Later, Susan & Tony got word that they were safe, followed by Rocco & Karina.

Then there were four: Cody & Julianne, Toni & Alec, Ted & Inna, and Lance & Lacey remained, with the assurance that one of them would go home.

The first couple safe was ... Lance & Lacey. The next couple safe was Cody & Julianne. That left Toni & Alec and Ted & Inna.

The couple going home was ... Ted & Inna. That meant Toni & Alec would live to see another week.

"I was looking forward to dancing more," Ted said. "I'm one of the guys, I guess I'll always be one of the guys." Ted looked a little disappointed as he realized it was the end of the road.
