In making the announcement, The Broadway League president Charlotte St.
Recording artist Shoshana Bean (Broadway’s “Wicked”), Paul Dooley (Disney’s “Cars” trilogy), Wilson Cruz and Jessica Marie Garcia will make special appearances to pay tribute to Emmy and Tony Award nominee Winnie Holzman who is being honored with the Julie Harris Award for Artistic Achievement.
Hosted by “Criminal Minds” star Kirsten Vangsness, this year’s gala will take place on Sunday, June 10, 2018 (3:30-8:00pm) at Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The evening will feature “green carpet” arrivals, cocktail hour, gala dinner, live performances, silent auction, and the West Coast’s exclusive live feed of the 2018 Tony Awards broadcast from New York City. Tickets are currently on sale at www.actorsfund.org/TonyParty2018.
Winnie Holzman is the co-writer (with songwriter Stephen Schwartz) of the hit Broadway musical “Wicked.
This is certainly the case with the new YouTube Red dramedy “Cobra Kai.” A thoughtfully modern “Karate Kid” sequel, the streaming series — which premieres Wednesday — catches up with blond bad boy Johnny (William Zabka) and his good-guy nemesis Daniel (Ralph Macchio), 34 years after their fateful fight on the mat.
As viewers will quickly discover, life hasn’t been kind to Johnny since his loss. He’s a handyman with a drinking problem and an estranged teenage son named Robby, whom he barely knows.
One of the most surprisingly entertaining movies of last year was Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which ended up being a fun and heartwarming sequel / soft reboot to the original Jumanji from 1995. Rather than being a board game like the original, the new Jumanji took the form of a 90s video game, which added a clever new twist to the movie. Welcome to the Jungle certainly managed to stand out from the original, making itself into its own movie rather than serving as a rehash to the Robin Williams-led classic.
The announcement of a sequel doesn't come as too big of a surprise, considering the massive success Welcome to the Jungle had. The Jumanji sequel earned itself over $950 million globally, which was over triple the box office success of the first Jumanji.
Poll Who will win ‘American Idol’ in its first season on ABC?
All three judges praised her profusely with Richie noting that a star was born. Do you agree? Will Vox go all the way to take the season 16 crown? Take a look at her Top 24 duet performance in the video above and then vote in our poll below. And be sure to sound off in the comments section.
Sure, I was curious to find out which singers would snag the final seven open spots in this season’s Top 14 — but not nearly as curious as I was to see just how thoroughly Ada Vox would nail “Defying Gravity” alongside Rachel Berry herself, Lea Michele. Honestly, it’s the kind of once-in-a-blue-moon event that gay prophets have been documenting
Hello all. A week or so ago I moderated a screening of Mean Girls (2004) for Show-Score's new Stage and Screen series with two members of the new stage musical's team (The Broadway version of Tina Fey's classic officially opens this Sunday).
I'm doing another Q&A so come! This Sunday at 1:00 Pm I'll be speaking with director/producer Dori Berinstein about her documentary Show Business: The Road to Broadway (2007) which follows four musicals during the seminal 2003/2004 Broadway season: the blockbuster Wicked, the little scrappy show that could (and did) Avenue Q, Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori's brilliant Caroline or Change, and the troubled Boy George musical Taboo. I saw all the big shows that year (a rare occurrence) and loved all four of the musicals this doc follows so that season remains special to my heart.
The movie has awesome rehearsal and backstage footage

Ticketholders were asked to convene more than two hours prior to showtime at the 1 Hotel in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn. Drinks and nibbles were served in the chic waterfront space before the crowd traveled by bus to the venue.
