Chloe Grace Moretz rules out a Hit-Girl return after the way Kick-Ass 2 was handled

Last week, it was announced that Matthew Vaughn is looking to reboot the Kick-Ass franchise through his newly-established Marv Studios, as well as developing a solo film based around the character of Hit-Girl.

The lethal young crimefighter was played by Chloe Grace Moretz in Vaughn’s Kick-Ass and its 2013 sequel, but it seems that won’t be the case in the proposed solo movie, as Moretz has revealed that she has no interest in reprising the role.

“I love the franchise, I think the first movie was really, really special,” said Moretz (via IndieWire). “I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all. As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in Kick-Ass, and I

Chloe Grace Moretz Wishes ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Was Handled Differently And Won’t Be Back For A Third

Chloe Grace Moretz Wishes ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Was Handled Differently And Won’t Be Back For A Third
Before “Deadpool” changed the game for R-rated superhero movies in 2016, Matthew Vaughn‘s adaption of Mark Millar‘s R-rated comic book “Kick-Ass” set the stage in 2010. It featured profanity, sex, drugs, excessive violence, and rock and roll. Perhaps the best part of “Kick-Ass,” however, was the young Chloe Grace Moretz‘s Hit-Girl, a trained assassin whose bite was far louder than her bark.

Chloë Grace Moretz Doesn't Want a Kick-ass 3 and isn't Interested in Playing Hit-Girl Again

Turns out, Chloë Grace Moretz wasn't a fan of Kick-Ass 2 and isn't interested in a Kick-Ass 3. She also doesn't seem to want to reprise her role of Hit-Girl. I actually liked the second Kick-Ass movie and I'd like to see the story continue with these two versions of the main characters, but that's not happening. While talking at the Provincetown Film Festival (via Indiewire), Moretz said:

"I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all.

As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in Kick-Ass, and I kind of want to keep her there. I kinda wanna keep everyone’s mind in Kick-Ass. So I don’t think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, at

Chloe Grace Moretz not interested in reprising Hit-Girl for Kick-Ass 3

  • JoBlo
Chloe Grace Moretz became a superstar when she stole the show away from actors like Nicolas Cage and Mark Strong as the ass-kicking, butterfly knife-twisting Hit-Girl in 2010’s Kick-ass. Director Matthew Vaughn and comic creator Mark Millar are interested in doing another movie featuring the young character, but Moretz recently revealed she’s not interested in reprising Hit-Girl for another... Chloe Grace Moretz Doesn’t Sound Game For Another Kick-Ass Movie

Though Chloe Grace Moretz has established herself as quite the respectable actress through various movies in recent years, it stands to reason that many of us were first introduced to her via Kick-Ass. In that picture adapted from Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.’s acclaimed comic book, she played Hit-Girl, a scene-stealing pre-teen with a knack for handling deadly weapons and possessing a mastery of martial arts. Needless to say, she was fun to watch whenever appearing on screen.

Of course, she reprised that role a few years later in Kick-Ass 2, but that one didn’t perform as well at the box office, likely forcing the studio to pump the brakes on the franchise. Still, I found myself being thoroughly entertained when I attended a showing.

Oddly enough, Moretz seems to be of a different opinion than I, saying the following while speaking with IndieWire:

“I love the franchise,

Chloë Grace Moretz Isn’t Interested in ‘Kick-Ass 3’ After the Way ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Was Handled

Chloë Grace Moretz Isn’t Interested in ‘Kick-Ass 3’ After the Way ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Was Handled
While “Kick-Ass” director Matthew Vaughn is interested in further exploring the world of his off-kilter superhero story, he will likely have to do so without one of his biggest stars. During a recent appearance at the Provincetown Film Festival, actress Chloë Grace Moretz said she would not participate in a potential “Kick-Ass 3,” saying she “wished [‘Kick-Ass 2’] had been handled in a little bit of a different way.”

Based on the Marvel comic book of the same name, the R-rated 2010 black comedy featured a 13-year-old Moretz as the ruthless vigilante Hit-Girl and earned nearly $100 million worldwide. Its 2013 sequel opened fifth at the box office, underwhelming critics and fans alike. While there have long been rumors of a third movie as well as a Hit-Girl spinoff, Moretz indicated she would not be involved in a “Kick-Ass 3.”

Reboots and Rebrands and Remakes, Oh My! What’s with the lack of originality these days?

Sade Green on reboots, rebrands and remakes…

There is a distinct lack of originality in the film industry at the moment. Perhaps that’s too harsh actually; there is a distinct lack of originality in Hollywood. The market is over run with sequels, spin-offs, reboots, rebrands, films-that-are-now-television-shows and the dreaded ‘late-sequel’. You know, that sequel that the studios have decided that we need over a decade after the first came out – it’s essentially pointless, but it makes them good money.

If we tried to devise a list of all of the pointless sequels, franchises, spin-offs and reboots, we could easily have a list of over a hundred films (way more actually), and of course, it is all a matter of opinion. Some may argue that the Rocky franchise, the Terminator franchise, The Fast and the Furious franchise, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the Marvel franchise, the Jurassic Park/World franchise,

In an interview with Empire magazine, Matthew Vaughn revealed that he is working on a third Kingsman film, a spinoff movie titled Kingsman: The Great Game, an eight-hour Kingsman TV show, a Kick-Ass reboot and a solo Hit-Girl movie. Matthew Vaughn announces Kick-Ass reboot, Kingsman sequel, spinoffs and TV show

Having enjoyed success with two Mark Millar comic book adaptations, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn has revealed to Empire that he has big plans for both Kick-Ass and Kingsman as part of his newly-established Marv Studios.

“We’re going to reboot Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl,” Vaughn revealed, stating that we’ll be getting both a new Kick-Ass movie and a potential Hit-Girl solo film. “Look what Mark Millar is doing with the comic for clues.”

For those not up to speed with the Kick-Ass comics, the newly-launched volume focuses on a brand new character, African-American single mother and military veteran Patience Lee. Vaughn’s comments would seem to suggest this could be the route for the reboot, and indeed Mark Millar has already teased the possibility, revealing that he’d like to see Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson in the role.

Meanwhile, Vaughn also confirmed that Kingsman 3 is moving ahead, and will shoot

Elton John Biopic Rocketman Is All Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll

Elton John Biopic Rocketman Is All Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll
Matthew Vaughn, who is co-producing the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman alongside Paramount Pictures, has described the movie as "the first R-rated musical," including "drugs, sex, [and] rock'n'roll." Matthew Vaughn's production company Marv Studios will have a big hand in the upcoming biopic, and given a number of their previous movies such as Kingsman, it's understandable that this movie will be raunchy.

Vaughn's description of Rocketman being the "first R-rated musical" isn't entirely true, unfortunately. There have already been a number of R-rated musicals over the years, including serious ones like Sweeney Todd and Purple Rain, along with comedies like Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny and The Blues Brothers. Regardless, Vaughn's message comes across clear that Rocketman will be like no other musical we've seen before. While it won't technically be the first R-rated musical, it will most likely be the first of its kind.

Rocketman is set to star Taron Egerton,

  • Cinelinx
HBO announced on Friday that they have greenlit the porduction of a pilot for a prequel to the acclaimed international hit television series Game of Thrones.

The news isn't totally shocking. Back in May, the premium cable network stated that they were developing spinoffs of the series with plans to “explore different time periods of George R.R. Martin’s vast and rich universe.”

HBO made deals with five writers to develop scripts for said spinoffs and in the same statement, the longtime producers of the show, Dan Weiss and David Benioff, confirmed that they would there to support the new writers but that they would be taking a "much deserved break from writing about Westeros once the final season is complete."

In today's statement, the network confirmed that the pilot will be for a prequel series set in the “thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones." They

Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl Reboot Coming from Original Director

Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl Reboot Coming from Original Director
Matthew Vaughn, who directed the first Kick-Ass movie back in 2010, has revealed that there are now plans to reboot the series, with his production company Marv back at the helm. There's no word yet on when these movies will release, how similar they will be to the previous movies, or who will star, but nonetheless, it's enough to get comic book fans excited.

Kick-Ass was Matthew Vaughn's big break back in 2010 which kick-started his career in the superhero movie industry. The success of Kick-Ass landed him his job as the director of X-Men: First Class, and writer of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Matthew Vaughn then went on to work on his currently most memorable projects, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Now, eight years later, Vaughn has revealed he's going back to work on the series that kickstarted his whole career, and this time he will hopefully get it right.
