    The Redbox special...

It's probably exactly what you expect..Rarely do films actually 'Surprise!' you these days...with all the hype given to any movie (regardless of how odd or bad) with a large budget, you get an idea of the movie...especially after a few reviews, what your friends say, and so on and so on....Well the same goes for these movies...the one's you 'Don't' hear about...You don't see the 'stars making the rounds on all thee late night talk shows, promoting their newest flick (& always pretending they have 'no-idea' what the clip is they brought with them)...So these films end up in the usual places...the bargain bins, the blockplaces will have a single copy (usually) and then there's Redbox...who unlike most places, let's you know upfront they have a mixture of the the best movies as they're released and tell you honestly that they have some genuine 'B'- movies...So, yeah, rent this one if you like sci-fi flicks, realizing it was done on a less than stellar budget and cut everyone involved with it some slack...The great thing about it is 'You might just find a real gem' among the 'B'-Movies available, but don't expect it...This has some good points and some low spots...But then again, keep in mind it had a 'B' budget too...

Doesn't look too bad technically, but poor writing sinks it

I do enjoy Sci-Fi movies when they're done right. Humanity's End did have some good ideas going for it, and is a better movie than I expected it to be if suffering from some very big problems. Technically it's not too bad, I've seen far worse looking films especially from The Asylum. The sets are colourful, the galactic backgrounds are wholly convincing, the ships, their interiors and the planets look cool and the photography is not too choppy. The film at least has some kind of pace(if not particularly exciting), it starts very promisingly and the females are very cute and sexy. Unfortunately while there are far worse out there, the graphics can be quite bad, the nephalium fleet doesn't look remotely convincing and the movements can look unnatural. The explosions are too diluted and somewhat outdated as well. The acting is not particularly good either, the sexiness of the females isn't enough to disguise their blandness and the lead, especially his voice, is really annoying. Their characters don't engage at all, and often act like idiots. But what really sinks Humanity's End is how poor the writing is. The script is made up too much of cheesy humour and jargon that definitely sounds made up which confuses things significantly. The story has some good ideas, that are either never expanded upon or don't make any sense and there isn't really much of a structure either. Overall, decent to look at but poorly written, had much potential but could've been much better. 4/10 Bethany Cox

    So bad it hurts...

Rarely do I review movies but in this case I felt compelled to warn others. The movie began promisingly enough but rapidly lost itself in a convoluted plot that built up to an anti-climax. The premise for the movie could have been used to much greater effect, I felt like about 3/4 the way into the movie it became very rushed and the climax (if you could call it that) left me disappointed. The special effects, while not great, were interesting and the costumes were quite stunning. The acting was a bit corny but I did like the leading character until the very end when the whole movie dropped itself into the toilet. Stay away at all costs!

worst piece of crap of 2009 if not ever

This is my first "review" ever, not to review a nice movie, but to warn all you people out there NOT to watch this piece of crap! You'd rather help your wife vacuumcleaning the house or wash the dishes or something than waste your precious time on this masterpiece of fail. I saw the DVD at the merchandise of a manowar concert, since neil johnson did some manowar videos. The cover looked nice, so did the title but I think instinct told me not to spend my precious money on it. After some time I started to regret my decision and started searching the net for it, months passed before I found it and with time my expectations probably got a little high. The day had finally come to drop down on the couch with a good friend of mine, fridge full of beer, big bag of quality pot on the table, and put the nice shining silver disc into the player... what happened next were probably the worst approximately 90 minutes of my life! An intro which took much too long, however giving some expectations of a good film, and after that 80minutes of really, really bad acting; so bad you would be glad to watch series like 'as the world turns' and 'the bold and the beautiful' just to see the smooth playing of the characters! For the budget I think the special effects were OK, accually I think the total budget was spent on it and none was left to make a movie of it. My whole story summarized: anything, really anything you can imagine to do is better than spending time in watching this movie!! And Johnson should quit wasting his time on making crap movies instead he should put his time back in what he's doing best: making great videoclips for true metal warriors!!

Amateur acting at best, poor writing

I gave this movie 2 stars - one for the special effects and such, there are a lot of those, although not the best I saw, its decent, and one for being a bit more original story than most movies now-days.

However this is where the good ends pretty much - all actors were amateurs, the storyline, while interesting - was inconsistent, and hard to get its "feel", even though a lot of time was spent at the opening, displaying a time-line of events - too bad it wasn't elaborate and detailed introduction.

Overall - get 80 minutes of extra sleep rather than see this movie, is my recommendation :)
