Celebrities Race Stretch Limos To The Emmys On 'Top Gear'

Celebrities Race Stretch Limos To The Emmys On 'Top Gear'
What better way to arrive at the Emmy Awards than in your very own limo that you've designed and built yourself?

That's exactly what the "Top Gear" (Tues., 9 p.m. Et on History) team did Tuesday night, and they not only raced each other there, they also dragged some nervous-looking celebs along for the ride.

Glamazon Terri Seymour had to share a ride with Rutledge Wood in his old jalopy masquerading as a stretch Vw Rabbit pick-up. "I'm not going to have to drive, am I?" she asked anxiously.

Meanwhile, "DWTS" judge Bruno Tonioli was paired with Tanner Foust in a much more impressive looking ride: a 1987 stretch Corvette (in red, natch). However, judging from Tonioli's pleas to be let out and his shrieks every time they hit a bump, it wasn't a smooth ride.

"That was like the Titanic hitting an iceberg," Tonioli said of one particularly ferocious encounter with a pothole.

'Top Gear' Crosses The Continental Divide In Minivans

'Top Gear' Crosses The Continental Divide In Minivans
The "Top Gear" (Tue., 9 p.m. Est on History) team became the first people to cross the continental divide on a mule trail, and their vehicle of choice was the humble minivan.

As they navigated through a treacherously narrow pass in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, convoy leader Tanner Foust ran into trouble. His minivan got stuck on the edge of a cliff.

The first sign of danger was when Tanner noticed that "the back end is trying to slip off the freaking cliff right now."

As he urged his minivan on he became firmly stuck. He couldn't drive forward, but couldn't reverse either because his rear tires were inches from the edge.

Eventually his co-hosts Rutledge Wood and Adam Ferrara joined forces to push him on with their minivans.

As the trio completed their epic drive a jubilant Adam announced: "We have crossed the continental divide! In minivans!"

"Top Gear" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.

History Channel Picks Up ‘Top Gear’ USA For Season 2

The History Channel has renewed Top Gear, the American version of the long-running British car show, for a second season.

Top Gear has performed well, if not spectacularly, for the History Channel since its premiere last November. The combination of its recognizable brand name, hosts, guest stars and of course the cars themselves make for a compelling watch for gear-heads and pedestrians alike.

Rescue Me alum Adam Ferrara headlines as a host, while pro racer Tanner Foust and Nascar analyst Rutledge Wood give more experienced commentary. Guests like Buzz Aldrin, Michelle Rodriguez and Tony Hawk provided a celebrity hook for most episodes, appearing next to their four-wheeled co-stars.

Matching the British version of Top Gear was no easy task, but the producers certainly led strong with various Lamborghinis and Dodge Vipers ...

Foust: 'Us Top Gear not like original'

Foust: 'Us Top Gear not like original'
Tanner Foust has suggested that viewers should not compare the Us version of Top Gear to the UK original. The presenter, who hosts the motoring series alongside Adam Ferrara and Rutledge Wood, told the Futon Critic that the programme "doesn't really try to copy" the BBC version. "It would be impossible to try to fill the shoes of [Richard] Hammond, [Jeremy] Clarkson and [James] May," he claimed. "We're just ourselves and the producers come up with a way in which they can potentially injure us and we fight for our own lives with these challenges." Foust also argued that the (more)

America gets its very own "Top Gear" thanks to the History channel. History channel? Why not. NBC tried for years to bring an Americanized version of "Top Gear" to TV, with Adam Carolla and other hosts in trials, but the demise of "Knight Rider's" remake put the kibosh on the car-centric series for the Peacock. "Top Gear" premieres on History on Sunday, November 21 at 10:00 pm Eastern 9:00 Central. Adam Ferrara is a well-documented obsession on Monsters and Critics; we love his stand up, we loved him as Chief "Needles" Nelson in "Rescue Me." And now we really love him test driving the hottest cars around and bantering with the likes of pro racer
