Michaela Coel broadesn her canvas but examines not only different types of rape and consent. This episode looks through the prism of exploitation via Terry's birthday party.
Arabella is short of cash. Her advance has run out, contractually she is bound to deliver her manuscript. Rape or no rape.
Theo gets Arabella a job at a Vegan start up. However it is only because the company want to use her as a social influencer.
Terry also shows her manipulative side. She has let Arabella down many times but wants to influence her life in manipulative ways. She insists that one of Arabella's ex boyfriend does not show up at the birthday party, even though it was Terry who wanted him to break up with Arabella.
The more striking chord made in this episode is by Samson. How climate change and environmentalism is used to exploit black people. Now there is no doubt that we all need to do more for the environment.
However there is a point of view. How the first world raped the environment and got wealthy only now to tell the third world, not to exploit it and remain poor. It's one way to stay ahead of the game I suppose.
