For Peace

Ronald Reagan narrates this partially animated cartoon that describes the basic set-up of the United Nations: General Assembly, Security Council, International Court for Justice, and so forth.

It's another industrial film produced by Walt Disney for the Army-Navy Screen Magazine. While live-action feature production boomed during the war, animation suffered. Long the most expensive branch of film-making, with a lot of talent drawn off by the war -- and fighting in the Army -- Disney and several other producers found peace of mind and steady profits in industrial films, often like these. This would continue after the war, when inflation and television would take a further hit on the profitability of cartoons.
