It's Going to be a 'Crazy Rich' Labor Day Weekend

It's Going to be a 'Crazy Rich' Labor Day Weekend
Look forward to another "crazy rich" weekend as the Labor Day holiday will push Crazy Rich Asians near (if not over) $120 million domestically. Meanwhile, Sony is expanding the reach of their cyber-thriller Searching after its limited debut last weekend while Lionsgate releases Kin and MGM's Operation Finale continues its roll-out following its Wednesday opening. Continuing the theme from the past two weekends, Warner Bros. is looking at the weekend's top two slots beginning with the smash hit Crazy Rich Asians, which has brought in over $86 million domestically in its first 15 days of release and is currently pacing ahead of films such as Bridesmaids and The Help at the same point in the release cycle. Now it's looking to push toward $120 million by the end of day Monday as we're currently anticipating a three-day in the same vicinity as last weekend, finishing around $25 million, followed by a Monday gross at

'Mission: Impossible' Tops 'Christopher Robin' for Weekend #1; 'Black Panther' Reaches $700M

'Mission: Impossible' Tops 'Christopher Robin' for Weekend #1; 'Black Panther' Reaches $700M
August 2017 saw the worst grosses for the eighth month of the year in twenty years and the writing was on the wall very early with the disappointing debut of The Dark Tower to begin the month. While this weekend's crop of new releases didn't exactly light the box office on fire, with Disney's Christopher Robin debuting below expectations, the weekend's top twelve titles still finished 15% ahead of the the same weekend last year and featured a strong carryover weekend from Paramount's Mission: Impossible - Fallout. With an estimated $35 million, Mission: Impossible - Fallout finished atop the weekend box office for a second weekend in a row as the film's domestic cume now stands just shy of $125 million after ten days in release. The film's 42.8% second weekend drop is the second best sophomore effort in the franchise behind Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which isn't quite an apples-to-apples comparison

'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' Rising Up Tom Cruise Box Office Records

'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' Rising Up Tom Cruise Box Office Records
The latest installment of the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise has only been in U.S. theaters for a week but is already proving one of Tom Cruise's biggest box-office hits.

The sixth part of the spy thriller series took $61.2 million on its opening weekend, setting a new record for the franchise in which Cruise plays secret agent Ethan Hunt.

As of Aug. 1, 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' had reached $83.9 million in domestic box office and $200 million worldwide.

But it is already in Cruise's top 20 domestic box-office performances of his career, after just a week in theaters.

It has buried 'The Mummy,' which grossed $80.2 million in 2017, and outgunned 'Jack Reacher,' which made $80.1 million in 2012. It has also surpassed older Cruise movies such as 'Cocktail,' which took $78.2 million in 1988, and 'Days of Thunder,' which raced to $82.7 million in 1990.

'Mission: Impossible' movies comprise four of the top five box-office hits for Cruise. But the movie star's No. 1 title at the domestic box office remains 'War of the Worlds,' which holds the top slot with $234.3 million in 2005.

'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' also still has a way to go before it passes series-record-holders 'Mission: Impossible II,' which took $215.4 million domestically in 2000, and 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol,' which set the series' worldwide record with $694.7 million at the box office in 2011.

The coming weeks will reveal if Cruise's latest 'Mission' will see it join its previous instalments near the top of the chart.

The Dark Knight Returns to Limited IMAX Theaters Next Month

The Dark Knight Returns to Limited IMAX Theaters Next Month
The Dark Knight is celebrating its 10th anniversary in style. Director Christopher Nolan's comic book movie masterpiece turns 10-years-old today and, to honor the occasion, Warner Bros. is going to re-release it in IMAX next month. That, in itself, is excellent and very exciting news for fans, but there's a big catch. Unfortunately, the movie is only returning to four screens in four different theaters across the U.S. and Canada. Sorry, everyone else.

These 10th anniversary screenings will kick off for a one-week, limited engagement on Friday, August 24. The Dark Knight will be screened in IMAX at AMC Universal Citywalk Imax, Universal City, AMC Lincoln Square Imax, New York, AMC Metreon Imax, San Francisco, Ontario Place Cinesphere Imax, Toronto. So if you don't live in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco or Toronto, or can't easily travel to one of those locations, you may, unfortunately, be out of luck on this one.

Brad Bird Wants to Develop His 1906 San Fransisco Earthquake Project as a Film and TV Series

Director Brad Bird has been working on trying to develop a film project based around the great San Fransisco earthquake. It’s called 1906 and it was supposed to be Bird's fist live-action feature film. Instead, he got sidetracked and went on to direct Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland.

The filmmaker, who recently helmed Incredibles 2, gave an update on the project which he’s been trying to get into production since 2007. Now he’s looking at developing the project as a film and a TV series because there’s so much story to tell.

While talking about 1906 on the Variety podcast Playback, Bird explains his big ideas for the project, saying:

“It wants to be a longer story. It’s a really fascinating moment in history. Prior to the earthquake, San Francisco is this really happening city that’s somewhere between the Old West and the 20th Century.

New Mission: Impossible 6 Poster Unites Ethan Hunt's Team

New Mission: Impossible 6 Poster Unites Ethan Hunt's Team
A brand new poster for Mission: Impossible 6 has arrived online. The arrival of this one-sheet comes with the announcement that a new trailer for the highly-anticipated next installment of the enduring franchise is also coming this week. We were treated to a great, action-packed teaser trailer during the Super Bowl earlier this year, but this should be more of a full-length trailer that might give us a better idea of the plot at hand in Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Paramount had this to say upon releasing the poster, promising the new footage should be here on Wednesday.

"This time, they have no choice but to accept. Check out the official poster for #MissionImpossible Fallout, starring @TomCruise. Trailer in 2 days."

As for the poster, it's a slightly less stylish one than we were treated to previously. Instead, this one focuses on cramming all of the major characters from the Mission: Impossible

The Iron Giant Director Brad Bird Has an Open Invitation to Direct a Star Wars Movie

With Lucasfilm planning to make lots and lots of Star Wars films over the next several years, any talented director in Hollywood seems to have a shot at directing one if they want. Director Brad Bird recently revealed in an interview that he is one of those directors. In fact, it seems like he has an open invitation to direct something if he comes up with an idea that he wants to pitch to them.

While talking with Fandango to discuss Incredibles 2 he was asked about the possibility of taking on a Star Wars film project, and this is what he had to say on the matter:

“I’ve known Kathy Kennedy a long time. And I’ve known George [Lucas] quite a while too. And certainly, that’s a very fun universe and if I could think of something that would be perfect for that I would give Kathy a call,

Incredibles 2 Poster: Pixar's Superhero Family Is Going Back to Work

Disney and Pixar have released a brand new poster for The Incredibles 2. Of all the movies Pixar has ever produced, perhaps no movie is more deserving of a sequel than 2004's The Incredibles. It may have taken 14 years, but we're finally getting that long-awaited sequel this summer, with the majority of the original cast and original director Brad Bird all on board. Now, a brand new poster has made its way online, teasing that it's time for our heroes to get back to work. Though, it might not be the kind of work you're expecting.

The new Incredibles 2 poster features all of the family's super suits in a laundry basket. We know that the sequel is going to pick up directly after the events of the first movie, but the dynamic in this installment is going to change dramatically. This time around, Bob, aka Mr. Incredible, is going to

Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg Reunite in New Mission: Impossible 6 Photo

Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg Reunite in New Mission: Impossible 6 Photo
A brand new photo from Mission: Impossible 6 has surfaced. Director Christopher McQuarrie shared the photo on social media, which reunites Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg. This is the first official photo that's been released since Cruise suffered his severe injury while filming the movie back in August. Things seem to be moving right along now though and the movie should still be able to make its July 27, 2018, release date, despite the delay.

The new Mission: Impossible 6 photo looks great, in stark black and white, with Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt out in front and Simon Pegg's loyal Benji Dunn behind him. The photo doesn't really tell us anything about the movie, but it does serve as a reminder that we're in for another (hopefully) excellent spy adventure next year. With Spectre having disappointed in 2015, Mission: Impossible really has become the premiere spy franchise in Hollywood at the moment.

The Incredibles 2 Trailer Is Finally Here

The Incredibles 2 Trailer Is Finally Here
We may never get a good Fantastic Four movie, but Disney is giving us the next best thing. Arguably a much better thing. After more than a decade, we finally have our first look at Pixar's The Incredibles 2. Though, we don't get to see much. Director Brad Bird is finally returning to the world he created in 2004 by bringing us one of the most highly-anticipated superhero movies of 2018. And considering that Avengers: Infinity War is also coming out next year, that is a bold statement. But a deservedly bold statement. Disney released a synopsis for the movie along with an image and poster.

"Everyone's favorite family of superheroes is back in Incredibles 2 but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of "normal" life.

Tom Cruise injured as stunt goes wrong by Jennie Kermode - 2017-08-14 12:51:07

Cruise in action in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Tom Cruise was injured yesterday when a stunt he was filming for Mission: Impossible 6 went wrong. Footage of the incident, obtained by TMZ, shows the 55 year old actor rigged up for a scene in which he jumps from one building to the roof of another. Too low down as he reaches the second building, he hits the side of it, taking the impact against his chest and legs.

The severity of Cruise's injuries is not yet known. Though clearly in pain and limping hard, he was able to move back across the space to the platform on the first building, where he received assistance.

Cruise is unusual in doing almost all his own stunts, something producers discourage because it can dramatically increase the insurance needed for a film - if a star is badly hurt, a whole project may need to be scrapped.

The Incredibles 2 Begins Immediately After The First Film

Hollywood seems dead set on reviving or sequelizing pretty much every property under the sun, but for the longest time it seemed like there would be one beloved film that would go on unacknowledged and left to sit alone on its shelf, and that was Pixar’s 2004 film, The Incredibles. While a sequel seemed like a good proposition, it didn’t help that its creator, filmmaker Brad Bird went on to the world of live-action with movies like Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland. With the more big budget fare on the horizon, it seemed like fans would have to be okay moving forward without another movie.

But what exactly would an Incredibles 2 entail? Plus, given how long it’s been since the first one (13 years), what would be the timeline? Would it take place in real time, kind of like how the Toy Story series did, or would

Michelle Monaghan Will Return For Mission: Impossible 6

I'm sure you all remember Michelle Monaghan's character Julia Meade from J.J. Abrams' Mission: Impossible III. She was introduced as the wife of Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt in the third film. She also appeared in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. It was revealed in that film that Meade’s death was faked as a way of keeping her safe. Obviously, her marriage with Hunt didn't last.

Writer and director Christopher McQuarrie posted Monaghan’s photo on his Instagram account confirming that Monaghan will be reprising her role in Mission: Impossible 6. I've actually wondered if we would ever see her again in the franchise, so it's good to know that her character will play a role in the next chapter of the franchise.

As of right now, we don't know what her involvement in the film will be or how big of a role she'll have. On top of Cruise,
