‘Black Panther’ at Oscars: What does the Marvel Cinema Universe Academy Awards track record tell us?
The best hope for a superhero movie is to rely on strong reviews to separate from the rest of the superhero pack and carry them forward to awards glory. That’s what worked for “The Dark Knight.” On that note, we’ve ranked the top 10 McU pictures based on their Rotten Tomatoes rating and have taken a look at how they came up at the Oscars.

We have not included “Black Panther,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” or “Ant-Man and the Wasp” in this top 10, even though they all would’ve made it ratings-wise, because we are obviously still waiting on the results of their awards year.

Six out of the 10 best-rated McU films were nominated at the Oscars – not a kind ratio at all. However, we can take away the fact that, out of the Insix of them are in the above list. That means that, yes, you need to be

Marvel’s Black Widow movie gets a rumoured synopsis

This coming March, Marvel Studios is set to unleash its first female-led superhero blockbuster in the Brie Larson-headlined Captain Marvel, following which Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff is finally going to go solo with her very own Black Widow movie.

As yet, there’s no word as to when we can expect the Black Widow movie, but with Marvel recently hiring Cate Shortland (Lore) to direct, it seems safe to assume that the film will be one of the earlier entries in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While we await further news, a possible synopsis for the film has arrived online by way of Comic Book, which may or may not be official and is unlikely to contain any surprises for those fans familiar with the character and her backstory:

“At birth the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanova) is given to the Kgb, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative.

Possible Synopsis For Black Widow Movie Reveals Some Of The Plot

After years of fans trying to wish it into existence, Marvel Studios is finally – finally – bringing us a Black Widow solo movie. Scarlet Johansson first appeared as S.H.I.E.L.D. super-spy Natasha Romanoff way back in 2010’s Iron Man 2 and, while her male colleagues have had various vehicles to themselves since then, it’s taken until now for the star to get her own standalone project off the ground.

Still, better late than never and while Johansson’s secret agent is expected to feature in Avengers 4, the Widow movie is beginning to make serious headway over at Marvel Studios, after appointing scribe Jac Schaeffer on script duties and Cate Shortland to the director’s chair.

We haven’t been told too much about what Kevin Feige and co. have planned just yet, but a possible plot synopsis leaked online earlier today and teases what the pic may bring us.

The Flickering Myth Reaction to the Captain Marvel teaser trailer

The Flickering Myth writing team share their thoughts on the Captain Marvel trailer…

Yesterday, Marvel unveiled a teaser trailer for Captain Marvel, the studio’s first superhero offering of 2019, which introduces Brie Larson’s cosmic hero Carol Danvers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe ahead of what is presumably going to be a key role in Avengers 4. Here’s what our writing team made of the teaser…

Shaun Munro: One of Marvel’s weaker recent trailer debuts in my opinion. The cinematography looks really rough in parts and I just didn’t get the epic feel I was hoping for. The digital de-aging tech looks astonishing, though, and I won’t be judging the movie too harshly just yet. I’d be surprised if the next trailer wasn’t a lot more interesting.

Ej Moreno: While the film looks visually-striking and I love supporting a female lead, Brie Larson lacks

25 Best Falling Scenes In Film

  • Cinelinx
In the spirit of fall, we select the 25 best scenes in film where someone is falling.

Warning! This list contains spoilers! Proceed at your own risk!

Characters jump or fall off of high structures, airborne vehicles, and elevated topography all of the time. If you are watching an action movie, chances are there will be a sequence where a character falls for some amount of time. In thrillers or dramas, a fall can be a method of escape, or sadly, a method of suicide. Most commonly, a fall is a script writer's tool to kill off a character, good or evil.

Below I have compiled a list of my favorite/most memorable falling scenes in film. Some of these have become iconic moments in cinema. Others are important to the plots of the biggest franchises. All of them are memorable due to either the dramatic impact, or the creativity utilized

Avengers 4 reshoot photos feature Chris Evans, Paul Rudd and Scarlett Johansson

With additional photography on Avengers 4 now underway, the first batch of spy photos from the Atlanta set of the hugely-anticipated Marvel sequel have surfaced online and feature Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) in their civilian clothing.

There’s nothing too revealing in the photos, but they do confirm the clean-shaven Cap and new Black Widow hairstyle we saw in the leaked promo art back in June, seemingly confirming its authenticity. And, based on the length of Black Widow’s hair, either she’s managed to squeeze in a hair extension appointment at the salon, or a time jump is on the cards.

Robert Downey Jr. Shot Scenes For Avengers 4 With [Spoilers]

With Avengers 4 reshoots now taking place in Atlanta, all eyes are on the set to try and steal a glimpse of what we can expect from next year’s follow-up to the mind-blowing Infinity War.

The latest news comes courtesy of That Hashtag Show, who are reporting that one of their sources has seen John Slattery filming scenes with Robert Downey Jr. Slattery, of course, plays Howard Stark, the deceased father of Tony with whom he had a notoriously fractious relationship. Despite being dead, he’s featured in Iron Man 2, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War and now, it seems like he’s going to make an appearance in Avengers 4. The real question at this point, though, is in what capacity?

There are repeated rumors that the upcoming movie will heavily feature time travel, with the characters going back through major events in the McU in order to prevent Thanos

What a “Black Widow” Movie Would Need to be Successful

People have been asking about a Black Widowmovie for some time. After all, Scarlett Johansson made her first appearance as Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2, which came out in 2010. Other Avengers have received their own movies, but that has never happened for the Black Widow. For that matter, even a number of side-characters have had their own movies, which made the lack of a Black Widow movie that much more noticeable. Now, it seems that a Black Widow movie is at last on its way, seeing as how there is news that Jac Schaeffer has been chosen to

Pepper Potts Has Killed More Marvel Cinematic Universe Villains Than Iron Man

For a character so rarely seen in the heat of battle, Pepper Potts sure has a lot of blood on her hands. While the Iron Man co-star and current CEO of Stark Industries has usually left the fighting to her partner Tony, fans on Reddit have pointed out that Gwyneth Paltrow’s character has been the one to deliver the final killing blow to Stark’s enemies on more than one occasion.

The observation arose in a thread pointing out how Spider-Man and the Wasp are the only titular heroes of the McU who are still yet to make their first kill (as far as we know). If that’s the case, then Peter and Hope have some catching up to do, because Pepper’s personal body count is on at least two so far.

New McU Theory Says Peter Parker Had A Cameo In 2012’s The Avengers

One of the most famous McU fan theories goes that the kid in the Iron Man mask that Tony Stark saves at the Star Expo in Iron Man 2 is actually a young Peter Parker, years before he becomes Spider-Man. It was such a neat idea that it’s even been confirmed as fact by various Marvel folks. But what if this is just the start of Peter’s cameos in the franchise? What if he’s also in The Avengers?

One fan posted a screenshot from the 2012 team-up movie on Reddit, taken from the scene in which different news networks capture New Yorkers’ reactions and celebrations after the end of the Chitauri invasion. In one tab on the screen we see an excitable Asian boy while another brown-haired Caucasian kid looks on, slightly embarrassed, as his friend makes a fool of himself on TV.

Could this be Peter Parker,

11 Heroes Tony Stark Is Close To (And 13 He Can't Stand)

Tony Stark is a tough guy to love. Even though he’s saved the world countless times, the billionaire playboy still has an ego the size of The Incredible Hulk and, before he left his partying days behind him, he was known to frequently fly off the handle.

Even his best friend Rhodey got a beating when Stark was stuck in the deep end in Iron Man 2.

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, Stark’s committal to the divisive Sokovia Accords left him with very few reliable friends.

He’s even made enemies with heroes whom he used to work alongside, and we won’t see him reconcile with Steve Rogers until they reunite next year for Avengers 4.

Even when the fate of the universe is at stake, Tony Stark can’t help but ruffle some feathers.

He immediately harbored a dislike for the equally arrogant Doctor Strange,

Movie Review – Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

Ant-Man and the Wasp, 2018.

Directed by Peyton Reed.

Starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hannah John-Kamen, T.I., Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Randall Park, Abby Ryder Forston, Laurence Fishburne and Bobby Cannavale.

Synopsis:

As Scott Lang balances being both a Super Hero and a father, Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past.

After the firing of Edgar Wright, the first Ant Man arrived in cinemas along with a hefty dose of scepticism and many of us (myself included) were surprised at how good that origin heist movie hybrid worked. The same can’t be said for its sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp which is entertaining, but is very much a by the numbers, safe film.

Set before the events of Infinity War, we find out

Wonder Woman 1984 Comic Con Footage Reveals a Massive Mall Fight

Wonder Woman 1984 Comic Con Footage Reveals a Massive Mall Fight
Wonder Woman 1984 started production back at the beginning of June and was announced by Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins, when they both shared official pictures from the set. However, not many believed that some footage from the highly anticipated sequel would arrive at San Diego Comic-Con during DC's Hall H panel that was already packed with some heavy hitters. Aquaman is the big trailer, but just the sight of Gadot back in action may have overshadowed Jason Momoa's day in the sun, just a tiny bit.

It was announced towards the end of the last month that Gal Gadot was going to be bringing a Wonder Woman 1984 surprise with her to comic-con, which led to extreme excitement. Last year's Wonder Woman is the highest grossing Dceu project to be released thus far. In addition, the movie was a hit with critics and moviegoers, so to say

Iron Man: A Superhero's Journey

Iron Man: A Superhero's Journey
After the conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War, fans of the McU are left wondering how the next movie and the fate of their favorite characters will develop. Most people suspect that the deaths caused by Thanos will be reversed, but this begs the question of whether some of the original Avengers, who have mostly survived the snap of death, will have to sacrifice themselves to revive those who have been lost.

After examining Tony's character arc, it is unlikely that he will find afterlife in the next Avengers movie. His story has always been about survival, but, more importantly, throughout the entirety of the Marvel films Tony follows a traditional Hero's Journey arc, and that is not an arc that typically ends in death.

The nature of the McU causes the development of Tony's hero's journey to differ slightly than the traditional order. This is to be expected when each

Captain Marvel And Iron Man Team Up On Gorgeous Avengers 4 Fan Poster

If Captain Marvel represents the future of the McU, leading the franchise into its fourth phase, then does Iron Man represent its past? It’s certainly a popular prediction at the moment that Tony Stark will be meeting his demise in Avengers 4, and even if he survives the final fight with Thanos, it’s likely that his role in forthcoming projects will be reduced as the studio makes room for some (mostly female) fresh faces.

But however things turn out for Carole Danvers and our old friend Tony, for at least one film we’ll have the chance to see the two of them working side by side in a battle over the fate of the universe. Instagram user Ultraraw26 – who recently offered some pretty cool fan art for the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home – has now provided us with the appropriately epic illustration for this expected team-up, along with

Marvel's Black Widow Movie Gets Lore Director Cate Shortland

It has been announced that the Black Widow standalone movie will be directed by Cate Shortland. Shortland, an Australian director known for the Nazi drama Lore, has signed on to direct the Marvel project that will star Scarlett Johansson. Jac Schaeffer wrote the most recent draft for the Black Widow movie, but it's not clear if that screenplay will remain in place. The project was first announced at the beginning of 2018, after being discussed for years. Though nothing has been confirmed, it is believed that the film will take place before the events of the first Avengers movie.

Marvel Studios reportedly met with over 70 directors for the Black Widow movie before choosing Cate Shortland. The director does not have official representation, but it's believed that she was chosen with the help of Scarlett Johansson, who is a big fan and pushed for her to helm the movie. The hunt for

Marvel Reveals When The Black Widow Movie Takes Place
