A video review of "WWE Backlash" focuses on the Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match, wherein Triple H defeats WWE champion Randy Orton to become the new champion. In the ring, Triple H declared the "Age of Orton" officially dead, after which time Orton invoked his rematch clause for tonight. Triple H obliged, setting up the night's main event. By virtue of his "King of the Ring" tournament victory, William Regal was crowned "king." After boasting about his victory and vowing never to give up either his general managership or his throne, he insulted the audience. His tirade was interrupted by the returning Mr. Kennedy, who challenged Regal to a match. Things quickly degenerated into a pull-apart brawl.
