Richard "Rick" Castle is a millionaire playboy who recently killed off his main character when a serial killer starts killing people like he does in his books. He teams up with New York police detective Kate Beckett to solve the case. He finds inspiration in Detective Beckett and starts shadowing her for his next book.

Did You Know?
Later seasons featured less interaction between Castle and Beckett, often explained by plot devices such as Castle becoming a PI or Beckett pretending that they were broken up. Reportedly, this was due to the fact that the real life relationship between Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic had deteriorated so much that the two found it difficult to work together. See more
In the first season they film the outside of the precinct a handful of times. When they do this you can see that it is the 9th precinct not the 12th precinct. See more
