Zed agrees to let Richard join a hunting party while he and Kahlan deals with arbitration request from people, including his own alleged son and would be-apprentice Allard. The stag brings the hunters near Richard's birth town Brennidon, where he can't resist searching anonymously for his roots. He's recognized a woman who 'held him at birth', and presents him to half-brother Mark.
