Trivia
Richard (impersonating soldier) and the captain spot elk tracks and figure it weighs 600 maybe 800 stone. For perspective, a large male Earth elk weighs less than 800 pounds; if a stone equalls 14 pounds an 800 stone elk would need to be about the size of an African elephant.

Goofs
When Kahlan is in disguise as Archer Dunn's wife (who is in fact Richard in disguise), after she slaps him, she yells, "You haven't sent a penny home for your children." While previously sums of money were expressed in gold, those were often representing large sums, like for bribes, in amounts that were beyond what ordinary citizens would see in their lives. Ordinary soldiers earn pay in smaller increments, such as, for example, copper pennies. A term which has been in use for centuries, not just referring to American one cent pieces.

Quotes
Richard Cypher:
[
as Carver Dunn, to Captain Ensor, after beating the crap out of several D'Haran soldiers]
These men are cowards. They can't track, they can't fight, and if you don't want those rebels to kill you all, you need a man like me.

S01Ep17 - an interesting contrast of the rebels' view of Darken Rahl's troops, compared with Richard's inside-view which he gains by replacing a "confessed" archer and entering the stronghold, then visiting the village where the Captain's wife and family live.
Kahlan stays with the rebels, awaiting his return and trying to teach them the difference between seeking justice and seeking revenge - a very fine line in this world.
The time with the soldier's family gives a nice counterpoint to the violence and touches on the impact of violence upon the perceptions of children. Kahlan finds herself in a moral dilemma regarding the Rebels' use of the seized weapons. At the end, our two main characters understand each other a little more than before.
Kahlan also delivers the best slap so far when she is playing the wife of Richard's character - I hope that the actors accomplished this in just one take!
This was an enjoyable episode, delving deeper into the motivations of our two start characters, when I discovered this (2008-2010 vintage) series in early 2018.
