Originated as a short stage play that ran at the Bridge Theatre at Shetler Studios & Theatres in midtown Manhattan in July 2018. Shetler announced it was closing its doors due to COVID-19 in May 2020.

A charming story about a family and their community in NYC

Set in Jackson Heights, Queens, King Lahiri shows 3 days in the lives of the Lahiri family (widower Mr Lahiri and his 3 grown children) and all their many friends and neighbors as they run their convenience mart.

Mr Lahiri wants his children to care about the store the way he and his late wife always did, but they all have different ideas of what that means to them.

A great tale about the paradigm shifting for all involved with this crucial decision and how they move forward from it.

Side note: Danish Farooqui (Danish) went on to star in Broadway's The Kite Runner as did Uma Paranjpe (Salima) as the first female Pi in Broadway's Life of Pi.
