Dear Jellystone Visitors, Happy holidays from the Big City! Boo Boo and I left Jellystone Park to spend the most wonderful time of the year metropolitan-style, with friends Snagglepuss, Quick Draw McGraw and the gang! Luckily, I outwitted Ranger Smith with my department store Santa disguise. Our adventure led me to Judy, a girl who wants to spend more time with her workaholic dad. Who knew my love of pic-a-nic baskets would reunite them at a big city Christmas picnic in the park? Join the merrymaking, but get here before the basket is empty! The Flintstones, Huckleberry Hound, Auggie Doggie, and more friends also join us, making this Christmas caper full of our favorites. -- Yours Truly, Yogi Bear Written by John R. Winchester

Did You Know?

According to Mark Evanier, Hanna-Barbera originally requested that Daws Butler be removed from the project and all his roles recast, due to Butler's agent turning down the proposed salary. As this occurred three days before the scheduled recording sessions, and since all the top voice actors working in Hollywood refused to audition for Butler's roles, Evanier eventually complained to Joseph Barbera himself. Once it emerged that the studio's offer was only a thousand dollars short of what Butler's agent had asked for, Barbera demanded that Butler be paid in full, and production resumed without delay. Yogi Bear's All-Star Comedy Christmas Caper (1982)

*** (out of 4)

Cute made-for-TV special has Yogi and Boo Boo sneaking away from the park to head off to the big city to see some friends. Once there they come across a rich little girl who gets everything from her father except his time and attention. Fans of the Hanna-Barbera characters aren't going to find a great story here but there are so many great characters on display that you can't help be entertained for the majority of the running time. For the most part the story itself isn't anything too original or interesting but it allows the filmmakers to get across a certain message. As you'd expect, the animation is quite good and I thought the film had a very good look that really managed to bring the scenes and characters to life. Not only do we get Yogi and Boo Boo but there's also Augie Doggie, Blabber Mouse, Dixie, Mr. Jinks, Wally Gator, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss and even Fred and Barney have a cameo.
