The last time we saw the McU's Odinson was in 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie drew mixed reviews from fans and critics alike, with filmmaker Taika Waititi's full-blown comedic approach to the character proving every bit as damaging as what we saw in Thor: The Dark World years earlier.
Even Chris Hemsworth has acknowledged that Thor: Love and Thunder made a lot of missteps, suggesting it's time to take the character back to the drawing board.
The actor was the first name officially announced for Avengers: Doomsday, meaning the Russo Brothers can potentially make up for any recent mistakes. Today, The Cosmic Circus brings word that the end may be nigh for Thor...at least temporarily.
"Marvel [wants] to give Chris Hemsworth's Thor a proper send off in these movies in an epic way, with sources pointing to New Avengers (Vol. 3) #32 as the inspiration," the site explains.

Director Ryan Coogler’s horror movie Sinners continues to impress both critics and audiences alike, as well as hauling in an impressive box office, with cinemagoers enamored with the filmmaker’s terrifying tale of twin brothers who return to their hometown...only to find it infiltrated by a sinister force. While the dollar signs continue to spin at the box office, audiences will be wondering when and where Sinners will land on streaming. While we may not yet know the answer to the former, it’s possible the latter has now been revealed.
Coming courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures, Sinners is expected to initially land on Max (formerly HBO Max), as is the case for most movies produced by the studio. However, while Max will likely debut Sinners at home, the horror outing is expected to later land on a more popular streaming platform, Netflix, as has been the case with the likes of Furiosa,...

Martin Lawrence has a positive update regarding the future of the Bad Boys film series. April 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the first Bad Boys, which opened on April 7, 1995, taking the number one spot at the box office, and kicking off a franchise that continues to this day. After a 17-year hiatus following Bad Boys II, Bad Boys for Life brought the franchise back with a bang and became one of the last films to succeed at the box office before the Covid-19 pandemic shut down theaters. The fourth film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, became another box office hit, and fans are eagerly awaiting word on when Bad Boys 5 (Bad Boy5 maybe?) will arrive.
In an interview withEntertainment Tonight, Lawrence was asked about the future of the action franchise. Lawrence plays Marcus Burnett in the Bad Boys franchise, the Miami Police Department partner and best friend of Will Smith's Mike Lowrey.

DC doesn't know the meaning of the word restraint. From Jonah Hex to Batman and even the fluffy Super-Pets, it appears like every DC character has received their own feature film at some point in time. Yet, like every other comic book movie fan around the world, we're greedy -- we want and demand more from the powers that be. Give us "Zatanna." Put a brand-new "Swamp Thing" film into production. Heck, greenlight "Black Adam 2" while you're at it -- actually, maybe scratch that last one, because we don't need the hierarchy of power to flatulate again.
While we're always in the mood for new projects, there's a special allure about the what-ifs -- you know, the cancelled DC movies of the past. Look, there's no guarantee that these films would have been any good or even mildly watchable, but there's something about them that keeps the brain pondering the possibilities.

Despite it seeming like the sequel will never happen, the long-awaited action outing Mad Max: The Wasteland just got an intriguing update from Tom Hardy himself. The Oscar-nominee and MobLand star has only played the iconic post-apocalyptic survivor once in director George Miller’s action movie masterpiece Mad Max: Fury Road back in 2015. While we have been waiting ever since to see him back in the driver’s seat as "Mad Max" Rockatansky, nothing has yet come to pass. But this could all change...eventually.
Discussing projects that haven’t happened yet, Hardy revealed to The Hollywood Reporter recently that talks regarding Mad Max: The Wasteland are still happening. Addressing a Venom/Spider-Man crossover that never happened, Hardy explained...

Mad Max is one franchise that takes fans back to the wasteland unlike any other. Mad Max: Fury Road starring Charliez Theron as Furiosa and Tom Hardy as the titular Max, is the crown jewel of the franchise that exists on the periphery of old and new. The latest feature in the franchise, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, starring Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger Furiosa and Chris Hemsworth as big bad Dementus, did not have a similar impact but certainly invoked conversation about a long-planned feature, Mad Max: The Wasteland. Now Hardy has hinted that conversations around the project are happening.
The actor was speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about plans for a Venom and Spider-Man crossover that never happened but was at a point discussed but to no end as he wrapped up the Venom franchise before it could happen. “There are always talks, but that doesn’t mean that things manifested.

Following a rather successful second outing last year, Warner Bros has given Beetlejuice 3 the go ahead.
After waiting several decades for a follow-up to 1988’s Beetlejuice, it looks like fans of the series won’t have to wait that long for the next one. Last year’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice made some serious bank for Warner Bros, and so it appears that a sequel has been quickly commissioned. The news comes via a Deadline interview with Warner Bros co-heads, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, two executives who have had to weather plenty of speculation about their futures of late.
All of that noise doesn’t seem to have stopped them building up the studio’s future slate, though, and with A Minecraft Movie continuing to gobble up plenty of cash at the box office (it’s now north of half a billion dollars), they have a sizeable hit to point...

New films from Wes Anderson, Richard Linklater and the Dardenne brothers will premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Cannes organizers announced at a press conference in Paris on Thursday.
Anderson will be back in Cannes with “The Phoenician Scheme,” which premiered a baffling trailer at CinemaCon last week. Linklater is heading to France with a bold movie, “Nouvelle Vague,” which tackles the sacred ground of Jean-Luc Godard and the filming of “Breathless” in the 1960s. The Dardenne brothers have “Young Mothers,” which gives them a chance to become the first filmmakers to win the Palme d’Or three times.
Actors in the festival making their directorial debuts include Scarlett Johansson, who is in Un Certain Regard with “Eleanor the Great,” starring Joan Squibb; and Harris Dickinson, the star of the Palme d’Or winner “The Triangle of Sadness,” with “Urchin.”

As markets continued their downward skid Monday thanks to President Donald Trump’s tariffs, there was one stock bucking the trend: that of Warner Bros. film heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.
Warner Bros. and Legendary’s A Minecraft Movie bested already high expectations at the weekend box office to earn a massive $162.7 million domestically and more than $313 million in worldwide ticket sales in its opening weekend. After a string of underperforming titles — and a rumor mill that has been churning since the top of the year about De Luca and Abdy’s fate at Warners — Minecraft is the type of win that should silence critics. In a memo to Warner Bros. Discovery staff, De Luca and Abdy touted the success, writing, “This is what happens when we believe in the power of our creativity, each other, and the strength of great storytelling.”

There’s going to be a lot of celebrating tomorrow morning at Warner Bros’s Burbank lot. For the first time since Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice in the fall, the studio has a legitimate box office smash, with A Minecraft Movie blowing past industry expectations to make a whopping $157 million this weekend. That’s more than twice what we predicted earlier this week, but even the most optimistic industry forecasts didn’t expect this to make more than $100 million. It’s now the highest opening for a video game movie ever, beating the $146 million The Super Mario Bros Movie earned in 2023.
This comes along at just the right moment for WB, who have suffered from a huge slate of pricey box office bombs, including Furiosa, Joker: Folie a Deux, Alto Knights, and the recent Mickey 17. Will this be enough to turn around the company’s fortunes? It’s hard to say,...

The Conjuring: Last Riteswill bring the story of the Warrens on the big screen to a close, but that doesn't mean that the Conjuring franchise is coming to an end. The head of New Line, Richard Brener, was eager to discuss the future of the series in a recent interview. This year's sequel will mark the end of an era for the horror blockbuster hit. But Warner Bros. and New Line are aware that a continuous investment in the series could create profits for both parties for years to come. Here's what Richard Brener had to say regarding what fans can expect out of The Conjuring after the release of Last Rites:

Warner Bros.’ presentation at CinemaCon on Tuesday night was filled with plenty of big screen spectacle, but it came as rumors have swirled around the future of the studio and its film chiefs, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.
Over the past weekend, reports surfaced that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav was in preliminary talks with other executives to potentially replace the former MGM chiefs, who joined Warner following the 2022 merger between Warner and Discovery.
De Luca and Abdy didn’t make even an oblique mention of those reports, instead passionately presenting films that represent their approach to slate building with top budgets for original films, the sort of films that cinephiles lament aren’t being made by mainstream Hollywood anymore.
Two weeks from now, one of those films, Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” will hit theaters with early tracking projecting a $40 million start. Warner is banking on Jordan Peele-esque legs for this $90 million,...

As The Fall Guyhas taught us, stuntpeople often don't get their due. And few stuntpeople, it seems, were as beloved as Richard Norton, the Australian martial arts expert, actor, and fight choreographer, known for his work staging stunts and training actors involved in some of the biggest blockbusters. Which is why it's so heartening to see such an outpouring of love and admiration for Norton, whose death was confirmed by his wife, Judy, on Sunday in a post on Instagram.
Norton worked alongside some of the greats of his era, including Jackie Chan and Chuck Norris. He also trained actors like Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, Sophie Turner, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ben Affleck, Margot Robbie, Charlie Hunnam, Liam Neeson and many more, for roles in various films. Three months into 2025, it's fair to say that the movie business is in a bad, bad way. As of last week, films have only generated $1.34 billion, which is a 7% drop from this time last year. This poor start has been compounded by a string of big-budget flops and dire underperformers like Bong Joon Ho's "Parasite" follow-up "Mickey 17," Marvel Studios' "Captain America: Brave New World," and Disney's live-action remake of "Snow White." The failure of Director Bong's film is especially troubling given that it was essentially an original as far as moviegoers were concerned (the novel it was based on was not widely read), which brought out the anti-art contingent of the industry who'd rather imagine themselves as a savvy studio chief instead of a risk-taking auteur. Though "Mickey 17" was not as rapturously received as "Parasite," even its detractors had to admit that it was shot through with...

He chuckled to himself. At the time, De Luca was rehearsing to an empty house at CinemaCon, the annual convention of movie theater owners, beside his longtime friend and Warner Bros. Pictures co-head Pamela Abdy. The duo had just taken the helm of the storied Hollywood studio – home to everything from “The Jazz Singer” to all eight movie installments of “Harry Potter.” De Luca told the joke to acknowledge how swiftly he and Abdy had just vacated their jobs as heads of MGM’s film division for the chance to run 102-year-old Warners.
His zinger didn’t wind up in the final presentation. Fast forward another two years, and no one at Warner Bros. is laughing even a little.

Tom Hardy is the human embodiment of a plot twist. One moment, he’s brooding as Bane, the next, he’s zooming through a post-apocalyptic wasteland as Max Rockatansky. But when it comes to spilling the beans on whether he’s returning to the Mad Max franchise, Hardy is tighter-lipped than a vault at Fort Knox.
Seriously, asking him about the next Mad Max movie is like trying to get a cat to take a bath, it’s not happening without a struggle. It’s not just the secrecy that makes Hardy so intriguing, it’s the way he dodges questions with the finesse of an action hero escaping an explosion in slow motion. He gives just enough to keep fans hopeful but not enough to confirm anything. And that only adds to the legend.

Whether it's Robert Eggers' darkly brooding Nosferatu, the painterly charms of Oscar-winning animation Flow, or the sun-bleached sands of Furiosa, you can't possibly appreciate the best that either small or silver screen has to offer unless you have the screen to do it justice. Thankfully, the best 55-inch TVs on the market today are better than ever. While upsizing your set is always a thrill, what if you're downsizing from a 65-inch model? Well, the size difference is surprisingly not such a big deal and you won't be losing out on features. A lot of the advanced bells and whistles we normally see in larger sets like 65-inch TVs (with micro dimming for deeper blacks and other tricks) have made their way into models as small as 43-inch TVs.

2025 has been a slow year for movies so far, as new and original films that people have been craving underperformed severely. Just recently, exciting motion pictures like the sci-fi satire Mickey 17, the action comedy Novocaine, and the spy thriller Black Bag have been pulling in less-than-stellar financial numbers despite the critical praise they've gotten. This current trend has movie fans worried that the products they're enjoying won't make a huge commercial splash.
It's not just the current year of 2025 either. 2024, the year before, also had its fair share of fantastic movies that failed to make a grand impact at the box office. These films had either spectacular action, brilliantly executed concepts, an engaging true-story narrative, or became an unexpectedly magnificent installment in a long-running franchise. Between Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Transformers One, and Better Man, these otherwise acclaimed 2024 movies were unfortunate box office disappointments.

“Life is like a box of chocolates… you never know what you’re gonna get,” said Forrest Gump. This sentiment rings true when it comes to movies, too.
We mean, we’re talking about those days where you hop from one adventure to the next, with no map nor plan, just following the flow like a leaf in the wind. Now, imagine that kind of unpredictable thrill happening right from the comfort of your couch. If movies were a ride, this list would be the kind that keeps you buckled in tight, taking you from soul-stirring drama to mind-bending sci-fi, all in a single night. There is no need for a parachute or seatbelt, though—just a bucket of popcorn and a TV remote.

Okay, so maybe that’s not exactly how MCU’s Doctor Strange would explain it, but you get the gist.

Prime Video has developed a strange reputation over the last few years for expanding beloved sci-fi/fantasy franchises. Following up on the success of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Prime Video will be turning its attention to the world of Blade Runner, as filming recently wrapped on the upcoming series, Blade Runner 2099. As the title indicates, the show will take place 50 years after the critical darling/financial flop Blade Runner 2049, while Ridley Scott, who helmed the original film, will be serving as a producer.
Thus far, the show’s premise has been kept tightly under wraps, but what little we know hints that Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh will serve as the lead. She’s set to play Olwen, a Replicant nearing the end of her life, and she’ll be joined by an ensemble cast including Hunter Schafer, Lewis Gribben, and Tom Burke (most...

While we likely won’t be getting a new “Blade Runner” feature film anytime soon, the franchise is taking a page from “Alien: Earth” and expanding with a new spinoff television series at Amazon Prime Video. “Blade Runner 2099” is set 50 years after the events of “Blade Runner 2049,” the new cyberpunk show features an impressive cast led by Michelle Yeoh (“Everything Everywhere All At Once”), Hunter Schafer, and Tom Burke (“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”).

This month brings bad news for action, Tom Hardy, and Mad Max fans, and it’s all thanks to Netflix. Beginning back in 1979 and starring the now controversial Hollywood icon (and “Special Ambassador”) Mel Gibson as the titular “Mad” Max Rockatansky, Oscar-nominee and Venom star Tom Hardy took over the lead role in the critically acclaimed 2015 sequel, Mad Max: Fury Road.
While the Mad Max movie has now sparked a spin-off in last year’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, fans don’t have long to once again bask in the high-speed action delight of the Fury Road, as the Tom Hardy-led sequel is all set to leave Netflix on March 30, 2025. Mad Max: Fury Road was co-written, co-produced, and directed by George Miller, and sees Hardy take over from Gibson as the post-apocalyptic survivor and road warrior "Mad Max" Rockatansky, joining forces with Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa. Tom Burke, known for his work in “Furiosa” and the BBC series “Strike,” is gearing up for a major role in the upcoming “Blade Runner 2099” series on Prime Video. This series will pick up after the events of the iconic Blade Runner films, continuing the exploration of what it means to be human in a world full of advanced technology and artificial beings.
While details about the plot remain under wraps, Burke teased some exciting aspects of the series. He revealed that Blade Runner 2099 will have a visual style much closer to the original Blade Runner film, directed by Ridley Scott, than its sequel, Blade Runner 2049. Burke describes the aesthetic as a “Baroque, eclectic mix of cultures and time periods,” which fans of the original movie will likely recognize.

If you thought the 2025 Oscars season was over, you'd be dead wrong.
Due to the Los Angeles wildfires, the 75th American Cinema Editors gala was delayed from Jan. 18 to March 14, nearly two weeks after the Academy Awards. In the wake of the fires, the reimagined ceremony pivoted from a black-tie, red-carpet event to a "Come as You Are" community-building fundraiser, and a portion of the ticket sales were donated to Southern California relief efforts.
The 2025 Ace Eddie Awards, held Friday at UCLA's Royce Hall, recognized the best in film and television picture editing for the 2024 calendar year, and there were major shockers in several categories. The editors guild also honored filmmakers Jon M. Chu, Maysie Hoy, and Paul Hirsch with special awards.

Steven Soderbergh's 2011 film Contagion became a streaming hit back in 2020 during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, as the film had obvious parallels with the real-life pandemic the world was going through at the time. Now, fourteen years after it hit theaters, Soderbergh revealed he has had conversations about making a sequel to the 2011 film, which would bring original screenwriter Scott Z. Burns.
In an interview with Variety promoting his new film Black Bag, Soderbergh was asked about plans for a Contagion sequel, which he had proposed making back in 2020 when his film became an unexpected hit on streaming. "We’ve talked about it," Soderbergh told Variety. "It would have to be about something new, but also something that’s plausible. Part of the reason people were able to find resonance in that movie when it opened, and then 10 years later when the pandemic happened, was it was rooted in reality.

Before Tom Hardy was cast as "Mad Max" Rockatansky in Mad Max: Fury Road, Michael Fassbender auditioned for the role. According to the X-Men star, the entire process was a complete disaster.
During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Fassbender described it as one of his "worst" recent auditions. The ordeal began when the actor lost his way. "So I was going to Warner Bros. in the valley, not complicated," he recalled. "I had those printouts on the seat next to me in the car, you know, 'Take a left here' or whatever, and I got lost. I ended up getting to the audition almost like an hour late, so I was not in the correct headspace. But I arrived, and I was like, 'I'm so sorry.' And they were like 'fine.'"

Michael Fassbender Details His Awful ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Audition: ‘It Was So Excruciating’ | Video

Michael Fassbender said a series of quirky events while auditioning for George Miller’s hit action sci-fi film “Mad Max: Fury Road” led to an “excruciating” experience.
“That was one of the worst auditions, recent auditions … I mean, recent,” Fassbender said while appearing on Thursday’s episode of Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. The host cut in saying that the audition had to be at least 12 years ago.
“Thankfully, I have not had to audition in a while,” Fassbender jokingly added.
Watch the full interview in the video below:
The “X-Men: First Class” actor then went on to explain that the chaotic endeavor began when he got lost on the Warner Bros. lot.

2024 was a strange year at the box office. Things started off slowly, with February seeing Argylleflop. Things picked up in March, however, upon the release of the anticipated sci-fi sequel Dune: Part Two. The Denis Villeneuve-directed adaptation ended up grossing over $714 million, becoming the sixth-highest grossing film of the year. It was an especially good year for animation, with three of the year's top 5 movies being PG-rated animated films. This included Inside Out 2, whose $1.69 million gross made it the highest-grossing film of 2024.
Amidst all the wins, there were a series of films that did not achieve the level of box-office glory that they hoped for. Spring 2024 saw the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The prequel follow-up to the $380 million hit Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa had high hopes, but ended up with a disappointing $174.1 million total. The Warner Bros film division has had a rocky time – and it reportedly needs this summer’s Superman to be a hit in order to keep going.
As you’ll likely know, Warner Bros experienced an uneven 2024 at the box office, scoring some hits such as Dune: Part Two and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. But those successes were largely offset by dismal commercial performances of expensive projects such as Joker: Folie A Deux and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
As we move through 2025, the path ahead looks rockier for the studio given that it has bravely (and commendably) elected to invest in expensive, auteur-driven cinema. Ryan Coogler, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Paul Thomas Anderson and more have all been working on pricey projects that may or may not draw in audiences to match.
The studio’s first experiment of 2025 in this vein isn’t what you’d call a smash hit, commercially at least.

Although the movie officially debuted on US screens in 2025, Paddington in Peru's first theatrical run actually came way back in early November 2024, with the beloved bear's home country of the United Kingdom first getting to see this threequel in all its glory. Because of this, the movie is considered a 2024 release, and therefore places on the list of highest-grossing 2024 movies. Where does it place? Well, after another strong weekend at the box office, Paddington in Peru has officially moved up to 35th in the list, overtaking Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga by $1.5 million.

Mickey 17 North America Box Office: Debut Weekend Update (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Director Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, the much-anticipated sci-fi black comedy, was released in the US theatres this Friday. The film came out in South Korea a week before that and is performing well there. It has a price tag of $118 million, excluding marketing, and has a long way to go before it can succeed. However, the beginning is on a good note as it collected decent numbers on its debut weekend at the top of the domestic chart.
The film received a decent B on the CinemaScore platform, and the reviews are also favorable. Robert Pattinson’s film by Joon Ho registered Warner Bros’ biggest second-weekend post-covid in South Korea. Hopefully, it will maintain the same performance in the United States and other parts of the world.

It’s Anya Taylor-Joy’s world. We are just living in it. Her latest film, The Gorge, recently became Apple TV+’s biggest launch. The streaming giant doesn’t normally disclose specific numbers, but exceptions tend to be made for Number 1, which was the case with the new flick. A recent report by Deadline reveals that the film has driven double-digit growth globally for the streaming service and boosted new viewership figures by over 80% since its debut on Friday, February 14. Impressive!
Taylor-Joy has been on a roll in the 2020s, wowing fans with her performances in Peaky Blinders, The Northman, Amsterdam, Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. She also did excellent work on The Menu, a movie that continues to soar, two years after its release. In February, the black comedy horror hit Netflix’s Top 10 chart in U.S., proving that quality never goes out of fashion.

Mickey 17 is the first major entry in WB’s auteur-driven 2025 lineup, which comprises releases from James Gunn, Paul Thomas Anderson, Joseph Kosinski, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Ryan Coogler. Unfortunately, the new Bong Joon-ho release, starring Robert Pattinson, isn’t exactly off to a flyer start, given its sizeable $118 budget.

Although the film has opened to a decent critical reception, it’s nowhere close to Joon-ho’s previous release, Parasite, which not only proved to be a critical darling but was also a dominant force at the box office. As for Mickey 17, the slow box-office start could lead to an underwhelming turnaround.
Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17 is off to a cold start at the box-office
Apart from a few exceptions, the box office hasn’t been kind to big-budget productions in recent years, and unfortunately, Robert Pattinson‘s Mickey 17 hasn’t been able to avoid a cold beginning.
