The last time we saw the McU's Odinson was in 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie drew mixed reviews from fans and critics alike, with filmmaker Taika Waititi's full-blown comedic approach to the character proving every bit as damaging as what we saw in Thor: The Dark World years earlier.

Even Chris Hemsworth has acknowledged that Thor: Love and Thunder made a lot of missteps, suggesting it's time to take the character back to the drawing board.

The actor was the first name officially announced for Avengers: Doomsday, meaning the Russo Brothers can potentially make up for any recent mistakes. Today, The Cosmic Circus brings word that the end may be nigh for Thor...at least temporarily.

Martin Lawrence has a positive update regarding the future of the Bad Boys film series. April 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the first Bad Boys, which opened on April 7, 1995, taking the number one spot at the box office, and kicking off a franchise that continues to this day. After a 17-year hiatus following Bad Boys II, Bad Boys for Life brought the franchise back with a bang and became one of the last films to succeed at the box office before the Covid-19 pandemic shut down theaters. The fourth film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, became another box office hit, and fans are eagerly awaiting word on when Bad Boys 5 (Bad Boy5 maybe?) will arrive.

“I am numb and devastated, I have no words I have lost my everything,” she wrote in the caption, alongside a photo of her, Norton and their Husky. “I know there is, and will be lots of love and shock that we have lost this incredible human being. The love ❤️ of my life. I’m using this time to come to terms with my great loss.”

Tom Burke, known for his work in “Furiosa” and the BBC series “Strike,” is gearing up for a major role in the upcoming “Blade Runner 2099” series on Prime Video. This series will pick up after the events of the iconic Blade Runner films, continuing the exploration of what it means to be human in a world full of advanced technology and artificial beings.

While details about the plot remain under wraps, Burke teased some exciting aspects of the series. He revealed that Blade Runner 2099 will have a visual style much closer to the original Blade Runner film, directed by Ridley Scott, than its sequel, Blade Runner 2049. Burke describes the aesthetic as a “Baroque, eclectic mix of cultures and time periods,” which fans of the original movie will likely recognize.

Wicked and Emilia Perez were named the best edited feature films of 2024 at the 75th Annual Ace Eddie Awards. Winners were announced on March 14, 2025 during a ceremony that was originally scheduled for January 18th. The devastating Los Angeles wildfires forced the delay, and the American Cinema Editors opted for a less formal ceremony that helped raise money for wildfire relief.

On the television side, awards season favorite Shogun, What We Do in the Shadows, and Frasier took home awards. Both What We Do in the Shadows and Frasier earned Ace Eddie Awards for their final seasons, while Shogun is set to return for a second season.

In the wake of the fires, the reimagined ceremony pivoted from a black-tie, red-carpet event to a "Come as You Are" community-building fundraiser, and a portion of the ticket sales were donated to Southern California relief efforts.

The American Cinema Editors (Ace) has announced its winners for the 2025 Ace Eddie Awards, which recognizes “outstanding editing in 14 categories of film, television and documentaries.”

Steven Soderbergh's 2011 film Contagion became a streaming hit back in 2020 during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, as the film had obvious parallels with the real-life pandemic the world was going through at the time. Now, fourteen years after it hit theaters, Soderbergh revealed he has had conversations about making a sequel to the 2011 film, which would bring original screenwriter Scott Z. Burns.

In an interview with Variety promoting his new film Black Bag, Soderbergh was asked about plans for a Contagion sequel, which he had proposed making back in 2020 when his film became an unexpected hit on streaming. "We’ve talked about it," Soderbergh told Variety. "It would have to be about something new, but also something that’s plausible. Part of the reason people were able to find resonance in that movie when it opened, and then 10 years later when the pandemic happened, was it was rooted in reality.

Before Tom Hardy was cast as "Mad Max" Rockatansky in Mad Max: Fury Road, Michael Fassbender auditioned for the role. According to the X-Men star, the entire process was a complete disaster.

During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Fassbender described it as one of his "worst" recent auditions. The ordeal began when the actor lost his way. "So I was going to Warner Bros. in the valley, not complicated," he recalled. "I had those printouts on the seat next to me in the car, you know, 'Take a left here' or whatever, and I got lost. I ended up getting to the audition almost like an hour late, so I was not in the correct headspace. But I arrived, and I was like, 'I'm so sorry.' And they were like 'fine.'"

Michael Fassbender said a series of quirky events while auditioning for George Miller’s hit action sci-fi film “Mad Max: Fury Road” led to an “excruciating” experience.

“That was one of the worst auditions, recent auditions … I mean, recent,” Fassbender said while appearing on Thursday’s episode of Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. The host cut in saying that the audition had to be at least 12 years ago.

“Thankfully, I have not had to audition in a while,” Fassbender jokingly added.

The Warner Bros film division has had a rocky time – and it reportedly needs this summer’s Superman to be a hit in order to keep going.

As you’ll likely know, Warner Bros experienced an uneven 2024 at the box office, scoring some hits such as Dune: Part Two and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. But those successes were largely offset by dismal commercial performances of expensive projects such as Joker: Folie A Deux and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

As we move through 2025, the path ahead looks rockier for the studio given that it has bravely (and commendably) elected to invest in expensive, auteur-driven cinema. Ryan Coogler, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Paul Thomas Anderson and more have all been working on pricey projects that may or may not draw in audiences to match.

The studio’s first experiment of 2025 in this vein isn’t what you’d call a smash hit, commercially at least.

Although the movie officially debuted on US screens in 2025, Paddington in Peru's first theatrical run actually came way back in early November 2024, with the beloved bear's home country of the United Kingdom first getting to see this threequel in all its glory. Because of this, the movie is considered a 2024 release, and therefore places on the list of highest-grossing 2024 movies. Where does it place? Well, after another strong weekend at the box office, Paddington in Peru has officially moved up to 35th in the list, overtaking Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga by $1.5 million.

Director Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, the much-anticipated sci-fi black comedy, was released in the US theatres this Friday. The film came out in South Korea a week before that and is performing well there. It has a price tag of $118 million, excluding marketing, and has a long way to go before it can succeed. However, the beginning is on a good note as it collected decent numbers on its debut weekend at the top of the domestic chart.

The film received a decent B on the CinemaScore platform, and the reviews are also favorable. Robert Pattinson’s film by Joon Ho registered Warner Bros’ biggest second-weekend post-covid in South Korea. Hopefully, it will maintain the same performance in the United States and other parts of the world.

It’s Anya Taylor-Joy’s world. We are just living in it. Her latest film, The Gorge, recently became Apple TV+’s biggest launch. The streaming giant doesn’t normally disclose specific numbers, but exceptions tend to be made for Number 1, which was the case with the new flick. A recent report by Deadline reveals that the film has driven double-digit growth globally for the streaming service and boosted new viewership figures by over 80% since its debut on Friday, February 14. Impressive!

Taylor-Joy has been on a roll in the 2020s, wowing fans with her performances in Peaky Blinders, The Northman, Amsterdam, Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. She also did excellent work on The Menu, a movie that continues to soar, two years after its release. In February, the black comedy horror hit Netflix’s Top 10 chart in U.S., proving that quality never goes out of fashion.

The film’s opening day collection is on par with Ridley Scott’s Napoleon. Mickey 17 is the first major entry in WB’s auteur-driven 2025 lineup, which comprises releases from James Gunn, Paul Thomas Anderson, Joseph Kosinski, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Ryan Coogler. Unfortunately, the new Bong Joon-ho release, starring Robert Pattinson, isn’t exactly off to a flyer start, given its sizeable $118 budget.

Although the film has opened to a decent critical reception, it’s nowhere close to Joon-ho’s previous release, Parasite, which not only proved to be a critical darling but was also a dominant force at the box office. As for Mickey 17, the slow box-office start could lead to an underwhelming turnaround.

Apart from a few exceptions, the box office hasn’t been kind to big-budget productions in recent years, and unfortunately, Robert Pattinson‘s Mickey 17 hasn’t been able to avoid a cold beginning.
