Snub and Fat and product placement

This is one of the comedies made by Snub Pollard and Marvin "Fat" Loback for the Weiss company - not really the high point of Snub's career. Snub had earlier acted in a rather similar partnership with fat comedian Hughie Mack (in Run 'em Ragged 1920) and Marvin Loback was evidently now drafted in in the hopes of cashing in on the surprise success of Laurel and Hardy.

Snub and Fat are two impoverished down-and-outs who sleep in the park. Tired of being continually chased by the park cop, they enlist themselves for the volunteer "night patrol" and are sent to the house of a spiritualist which apparently they are supposed to guard. There follow the usual "haunted house" gags...but, alas, no pretty girl, no mannequin, no legs.... That is evidently a different film.

A very curious aspect of the film is the very blatant product placement. At the park diner Snub orders Corn Flakes (Kellogg), then, when his flakes are blown away by a fan, consumes Ivory Flakes (Proctor and Gamble) by mistake. The waiter then gives him Bromo Seltzer (Emerson's of Baltimore). Fat, having read that soda is good for indigestion. then gives him washing soda (Arm & Hammer - logo clearly visible)
