Trivia

Charlie Frost's animation about the end of the world heavily references the animated Internet meme, "The End of ze World", which centers around the idea that humanity will kill itself as a whole before any natural disaster would ever have the time to destroy it. See more »

Quotes

Laura Wilson: No toothbrush. Only books.
Adrian Helmsley: You know, when I was a kid, my dad was on the road a lot. He would give me a box full books, call me every night and quiz me. I'd get an ice cream cone for every book I read, so I was a fat kid.
Laura Wilson: I find that very hard to believe.
Adrian Helmsley: No, it's true. My high school career was 2,000 books and zero girlfriends.
Laura Wilson: I didn't even kiss a boy till I was in college. They were all to scared of my dad.

Crazy Credits

Alternate Versions

There were some deleted scenes that were featured on the DVD:
  • Jackson drives Alec and Oleg to the airport while trying to get through some doomsdayers.
  • President Wilson and his secretary Sally talk about plans to make arrangements to address the nation one last time.
  • After the discovery that the impact drill is stuck and before the mega-tsunami hits, Anheuser blames Adrian for what his decision cost them and makes a comment about having sex with Laura. Dr. Helmsley punches him before taking Laura and some crew members down to the Hydraulics Chamber.
  • Jackson finds Gordon's cell phone under the water after Gordon was crushed by the gears.
  • In a follow-up to the alternate ending, Anheuser (after hearing that Dr. Helmsley's dad is still alive) apologizes to Dr. Helmsley for what he said.

Great roller-coaster ride
20 November 2009 | by andony63See all my reviews

Okay, the first thing I'd like to say is, ignore those comments from members who belong to 'the worst movie ever club!!' These members think it is way cool to label every slightly disappointing movie as ' the worst movie ever' and emphasize their juvenility with tons of exclamation marks. They think it is way cool to trash movies.

The movie just isn't that bad. It's not that great either so ignore those who gush and tell you how awesome it is and rate it 10 out of 10.

This is a film best viewed in the movie theaters on the largest screen possible to enjoy the thrilling sensation of cities breaking up, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions. This is indeed a thrilling roller-coaster ride. It is best to leave your brain at home, however, as you will cringe at the clichés, the schmaltz, and the absurdities. That doesn't make it the worst film ever, though. So go for the ride and enjoy the CG effects.
