Trivia

The Eastern European land Zemenia, where Leyla and the butcher are supposed to come from, does not exist. The language Leyla is speaking sometimes is Polish. The Zemenian flag you can see in some scenes is patterned on the flag of Croatia but in other colors and with some little modifications. Additionally, the symbol on Leyla's hat pin and box contains the Ukrainian national symbol. The Zemenian language Mr. Monk is trying to speak (with the dictionary) is an invented language. Goofs

When Leila comes to visit Monk, she is offered a seat on a couch with two striped brown pillows. First sitting down, the stripes on the left pillow are vertical, and horizontal on the right pillow. The shot changes to Monk, and then back to Leila, and both of the striped pillows are vertical. The position of the pillows change several times in the scene. See more »

User Reviews

One of the worst episodes.
14 June 2018 | by MeAlexSSee all my reviews

Very primitive mystery that has been used in plenty other tv shows. The fake geography is tiresome and very low quality. They use Slovakia land, fake 600 year long war, polish language, Ukrainian national emblem, Russian music and Balkan food. This makes the episode look like a low quality parody. Cops looking at a legendary detective who solved 100 crimes like he's an idiot. As before in recent seasons writers don't remember quirks of their hero and make mistakes. Boring, tiresome to watch.
