Ji-Yoon's ex-fiancé Peter Seung (in the photo on the fridge) is "played" by Daniel Dae Kim, another well-known actor of Korean descent. In a Refinery 29 article by Natalie Morin, Sandra Oh said that someone on the crew of "The Chair" told her that they needed a prop photo of Oh with "a handsome Korean guy," and they asked her if she had any on hand. So she scrolled through her personal photos on her phone and found one of herself and Kim together. Oh said, "You're making this thing so quickly....For me to go find a local actor or a guy who's handsome and have a whole photo shoot with them just so we can put it up? So I just took it from my phone and I just texted Daniel, 'Daniel, can I please use our picture?' And he goes, 'Yeah, sure.'"

Goofs
At the beginning of the semester, when Dr. Kim assumes the chair position, the viewer sees the trees bare of leaves and some snow on the ground. American universities begin the academic year in early to mid-August, so it should still be warm or even hot.
