Trying to Place Insatiable's Star? She's Been in 2 Major Movies This Year

Netflix's dramedy Insatiable has made its fair share of headlines already. The leading lady at the heart of the story, Patty, is a formerly fat, currently fit teenager who's out for revenge on her bullies. If you've been trying to place the woman's face that features so prominently on the promo materials, we've got you covered.

Debby Ryan has been acting for most of her life, but her "big break" story is pretty iconic. When she was only 14, she was literally discovered in a national talent search by Disney. Sounds like something out of a movie, right?

Ryan is no stranger to the teen comedy genre. Her first major role was in Disney Channel's The Suite Life on Deck as Bailey, a small-town girl who joins the lead group of friends. After the series ended in 2011, she immediately continued her reign as a Disney Channel queen by taking

The rom-com has viewers in their feelings and waxing poetry about how good the Netflix original film is. A large part of that success is thanks to the amazing cast, which includes 24-year-old actress Zoey Deutch. She brings the wonderfully sweet Harper to life, and her chemistry with costar Glen Powell (who plays Charlie) can be felt through the screen.

This definitely isn't the first time Deutch has graced a screen, though; she actually began her career on the Disney Channel's The Suite Life on Deck in 2010. She's been booked and busy ever since! So, before you get excited thinking about the possible sequel to Set It Up, check out exactly where you've seen Deutch's acting chops before.

Dylan Sprouse on His Killer New Role, Life After Disney, and Why He Doesn’t Watch ‘Riverdale’
Dylan Sprouse is no stranger to the big screen, having started his acting career at just eight months old alongside his identical, younger twin brother, Cole. From their breakout role in Adam Sandler’s “Big Daddy” to becoming Disney Channel stars as tweens, the Sprouse Twins seemed destined for a lifelong career in show business until they both took a break from acting to attend New York University in 2011. While Cole returned to television in 2016 to star as Jughead Jones in the CW’s hit series “Riverdale,” Dylan is finally making his own return to acting with the lead role in a new thriller, “Dismissed.”

Sprouse plays Lucas Ward, a high schooler who transfers into the classroom of English teacher Mr. Butler (Kent Osbourne). On the surface, Lucas seems like a dream student. He’s punctual, earns straight A’s, and comes to class tucked into pressed pants and blazers — an overachiever,

Debby Ryan Beauty Pageant Dramedy “Insatiable” Lands at Netflix

Debby Ryan: Clevver News/YouTube

If you loved “Drop Dead Gorgeous” you’ll want to listen up. The 1999 Kirsten Dunst-led cult comedy isn’t getting rebooted, but Netflix does have another beauty pageant-centric project in the works. The Hollywood Reporter writes that the streaming giant has ordered Debby Ryan-starrer “Insatiable” to series. Lauren Gussis (“Dexter”) penned the script.

The dramedy follows a “disgraced, dissatisfied civil lawyer turned beauty-pageant coach (Dallas Roberts) who takes on a vengeful, bullied teenager (Disney Channel alum Ryan) as his client,” THR writes. The supporting cast includes Alyssa Milano (“Charmed”), Kimmy Shields (“Big Little Lies”), Erinn Westbroo (“Awkward.”), and Sarah Colonna (“Parker’s Anchor”).

You may have previously heard word of “Insatiable” in connection to The CW. Just weeks ago the network passed on the show’s pilot, though according to THR it was simply a matter of The CW having “no shelf space” left to air the program. It “remained high on ‘Insatiable,’” but ultimately had to let the show go. Fortunately Netflix also recognized the show’s potential — and handed out a 13-episode order.

Ryan’s credits include “Sing It!” “Jessie,” and “The Suite Life on Deck.” She’ll appear in “Life of the Party,” an upcoming college-set comedy toplined by Melissa McCarthy and “Love’s” Gillian Jacobs.

Debby Ryan Beauty Pageant Dramedy “Insatiable” Lands at Netflix was originally published in Women and Hollywood on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Even though they took some time off to attend Nyu, Cole has recently returned to acting with his role as Jughead on Riverdale. They might not share the screen together anymore, but their sibling bond is still as sweet as ever.

Cole Sprouse's life growing up wasn't exactly normal. For more than six years, the young actor was spending his childhood in front of Disney Channel cameras on the hit series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody followed by The Suite Life on Deck. "There was a feeling of machination; I felt like an automaton," he confessed this week to Entertainment Weekly when looking back on his past roles. "I needed to take a break and step outside myself…I needed a dose of reality and I needed to see myself in a more objective point of...
