Nelson Mandela, the iconic anti-apartheid leader who went from 27 years as a political prisoner to eventually becoming the first president of a free South Africa, will be the subject of the 30-hour scripted TV series “Mandela.” The project is currently the works at writer/producer Josh Wakely’s Grace: A Storytelling Company shingle.
Wakely has secured the TV series life rights to the late Mandela via House of Mandela Entertainment, the media arm of the Mandela estate. Wakely will executive produce and write “Mandela,” along with South African writer/director Kagiso Lediga (“Queen Sono”) and producer Kweku Mandela (who is also Nelson Mandela’s grandson).
The project, which Wakely compares to a multi-season saga in the vein of Netflix’s “The Crown,” will center on Mandela’s life as he was sent to prison while aiming to end apartheid, the system of institutional racism and segregation that was administered in South Africa for generations.

Netflix is about to remove a alrge selection of movies and TV shows from its service.
Every month, without fanfare, numerous titles are removed from the streamer.
This means that, should something be on your watchlist, it will vanish until it’s added again.
Netflix doesn’t publicise the titles it will remove – and users will only be alerted to something’s imminent removal if they happen to select the title in question.
But, with help from the team at What’s on Netflix, we’ve compiled the full list – and you can find the compilation of everything being added this month here.

From the first glimpse of that weird bird that heralds the arrival of “Twin Peaks,” the television series plunged viewers into the palm of David Lynch’s hand. It’s a weird and wondrous place to be, which makes it prime fodder for fan theories. If ever a show’s symbology deserved an IMDb page, this would be it.
Read More: ‘Twin Peaks’: Why It Shouldn’t Have Changed Its Opening Titles
Thanks to Showtime, Lynch has free rein to complete the “Twin Peaks” story arc, a process that has him referencing his own “Lost Highway,” “Eraserhead,” and, most of all, “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.” Of course, it’s Lynch so all of this effectively clarifies nothing — but nature hates a vacuum, and that’s why we have ample fan theories to close the gap.
So, here are six of the best fan theories for the revival series’ first four episodes,...

If there ever was a piece of gear that I’ve experienced a Goldilocks dilemma with, it’s my camera bag. Taylor Kitsch will forever be Riggins to passionate fans of Friday Night Lights. But in The Grand Seduction, a remake of the 2003 French-Canadian film, Seducing Doctor Lewis, he plays a doctor who’s lured into spending a month with a tiny Newfoundland harbor village. The town needs to convince Kitsch’s Dr. Lewis to stay permanently so that a company will be encouraged to build a new factory nearby; Brendan Gleason plays the elder tasked with making the quaint hamlet everything Lewis ever wanted. (Yes, it sounds a little like Doc Hollywood.)

Some actors are really dedicated to their profession. They’ll go all “method” and learn how to perform all the skills their characters are supposed to be so adept at, all to make themselves more convincing. Then there are actors who go beyond dedication into something akin to madness. It’s not uncommon to hear stories of people losing or gaining a not-small amount of weight for a role, but these five guys went above and beyond (below and beyond?) in the name of realism.
In the process of transforming themselves physically, all of these guys inflicted actual harm upon their bodies. I’m not sure whether they should be applauded or kept under observation.
5. Taylor Kitsch in The Bang Bang Club
The Metamorphosis: Thirty-five pounds of weight shed, in order to portray a suicidally-depressed photojournalist.
The Method: “I tried to run at least 10 miles a day on fruit and coffee.

Tired of hearing about “Prometheus?” Well, what else are we cinephiles supposed to talk about? “That’s My Boy”? “Snow White and the Huntsman”? “Rock Of Ages"!?! Anyways, for those still involved in the discussion of all things regarding director Ridley Scott’s divisive summer blockbuster, “Prometheus,” a bit of new information has leaked regarding one of the film’s many ambiguities. Suffice to say, spoilers for “Prometheus” follow:

Ahead of the release of Battleship, we met with its leading man Taylor Kitsch to talk about its making, as well as his past and future roles...
It was on an unseasonably humid day in March that we got to sit down with actor Taylor Kitsch to chat about his latest film, Battleship. Like John Carter, released earlier this year, it’s a big, bombastic movie full of eye-popping special effects, and also required a potentially arduous shoot in difficult conditions - Kitsch went from the Utah desert for John Carter to the South Pacific for Battleship, and both films presented their own unique challenges.
But while his leading roles in those high-profile movies have brought him lots of mainstream press attention, Kitsch has also starred in the much-loved TV series Friday Night Lights, appeared as Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and as photojournalist Kevin Carter in the drama The Bang Bang Club.

Not so long ago, this year's must-see action hero was sleeping in his car. Now, after saving the world in John Carter, he's starring alongside Rihanna
"Oh fuck off!" The words are out of my mouth before I have a chance to think about the ramifications of saying them to a Hollywood actor, especially one whose star is about to turn supernova. As soon as I do, I think I might throw up. And then, after the briefest of pauses, Taylor Kitsch's perfect eyes wrinkle up and his perfect mouth emits a perfect laugh, all manly and throaty and sounding of a thousand cigarettes.
The incident occurs just after Kitsch has finished telling me about the house he's building by a lake in Austin, Texas, and the boat, which he sails upon said lake. It comes after he's said how much he loves England ("I love the dry, wry...

Taylor Kitsch was 'f***ing stupid' to lose so much weight for a movie role. The 30-year-old actor - who is a trained nutritionist - shed 35lb in just two months to portray war photographer Kevin Carter in 'The Bang Bang Club' and he hated the effects the rapid weight loss had on him. He said: 'I lost 35lb (15.8kg) in two months. That was f***ing stupid and there's not a lot of actors who will do that. It's just way too extreme, and being a nutritionist I found it hard. Everything I knew just went out the window. 'The way I worked, it changed my walk, my confidence, everything. I was very bipolar. My mood swings were f***ing insane.

A new trailer for David Wain’s ‘Wanderlust’ has been released. A comedy starring ‘Friends’ actress Jennifer Aniston, and ‘Our Idiot Brother’ star Paul Rudd, and Malin Akerman of The Bang Bang Club, the upcoming flick has a quirky plot with some funny moments. After taking an off-road detour to a 60′s style hippie commune, full of some crazy characters, the laughs begin with a naked guy, an embarrassing bathroom scene, a slow...

As we while away the last few days and hours of 2011, looking back upon all the great, unforgettable fare that descended upon our cineplexes this year, we can't help but get excited for what the new year will bring us.
We might not get another "Harry Potter," but there's a lot coming down the pike to fill the void: a new "Alien"-esque film in "Prometheus," the gritty and ruthless "Hunger Games," the superhero spectacle "The Avengers," and a brand new Batman, via "The Dark Knight Rises." Here's a brief rundown of what we hope delivers on the hype and makes our "Best of 2012" lists this time next year.
