I think it might be worse than "Santa with Muscles".

Warning: Spoilers
Abysmal acting, retarded and unrealistic dialogue, and camera angles that constantly scream "WOO! ARTISTIC!", this film has it all! I really wanted to like it since it is local, but it has absolutely nothing to offer. For a coming-of-age story, there is very little character metamorphosis. They're stock characters in stock situations. There was no originality or authenticity. There are enough movies about bored kids who like drugs and hate their stepdads out there to waste your time on one that doesn't even do it well. I realize the budget was probably about 50 cents, but that's no excuse for having a terrible script to begin with. The bottom line is I was excruciatingly bored. I wish I had followed the lead of others and walked out.

Awful.. just awful.

Awful.

Bad.

Disappointing

I went into this movie expecting a fresh take on a coming-of-age story. I was hoping for something than could take the same old story and infuse it with bold new life from fresh talent.

Instead what I got was a series of contrived conversation about topics that are hard to care about. It was nothing but drugs, women, and parental concerns explored at the depth of a plate of water. The main character gives a lackluster performance and never delivers a line with a hint of conviction. Other characters were annoyingly one-dimensional and seemed to scream "Hey, look, we're edgy! Check out how flippant we are! Whoah!".

There wasn't any significant character development. Nothing transcended this mess. It just drowned in it's own useless wake. Sad to see something like this coming from my beloved San Jose, I had to fight the urge to walk out.

Refreshing

This movie is one those that after a single viewing, you feel as though you just seen something special. There's no feeling that time was wasted watching this film. Great visuals and awesome soundtrack.

Also a great movie to watch alone. But if your into enjoying your time with friends, this is a great watch.

Invite some people over and just let it play. I think the soundtrack alone would make you stop and watch.

The movie has a nice flow to it. You really do feel as though you just walked into Lando's bedroom and your with him the whole day.

As usual its the small things that make great things. The characters, the music, and the city all make for great visuals.

Very promising new film director
pischina7 March 2008
I just returned from watching this film in a huge packed theater at Cinequest in San Jose. One character, "Aces", notes that they are all living their "Glory Boy Days." But I think the film is actually about the point when they realize their Glory Boy Days are over or ending. I think that's the point that we all have our first "mid-life crisis". Very reminiscent of Kevin Smith's "Clerks" in several ways, for instance a heavy load of very smart dialogue. The actor that plays the main character told us he had never acted before which is quite unbelievable. I would keep a look out for everyone involved in this film. I was pretty impressed with this film and I think it really shows potential for even better future films from this director.
