As of writing this, I am 28 minutes into the film, however, I already feel it is time to review it. Instead of writing a long, boring paragraph about the poor historical accuracy and realism, I will write a list below. I will continue adding to it as I get through the film. Enjoy.
Uniforms of the wrong colour.
Officer's uniforms lack cuff insignia, and are the wrong material.
No man's land has no shell holes.
German soldiers have inaccurate uniforms.
It seems that German soldiers are wearing Allied uniforms, but with a German tunic over the top.
A medical officer walked out of the trench in broad daylight, and tended to a wounded man in NML without so much as a single shot being fired.
The machine guns appear to be home made using cardboard. (I wish I was joking).
German guns are being bolted whilst they are at their shoulder.
There seems to be no recoil. At all.
There was no sound of an officer's whistle during an offensive.
The trench parados is only a few feet tall.
Very poor acting. I've seen better on CBeebies.
Webbing is the wrong colour.
I saw a Sergeant wearing webbing only issued to COs.
CO is wearing a cotton shirt and tie, as well as a modern waterproof jacket as a tunic.
Said CO cannot seem to tie a necktie.
An allied solider played with a wild dog in NML, whilst German soldiers smiled and watched from their trench.
A NCO cannot decide if he wants an American, Canadian, Scottish or Asian accent.
Soldiers fixed bayonets without the instruction to by a CO.
Neither sided had any sentries. Ever.
Apparently wood is not flammable.
Canadian troops conducted a night raid and stole... small amounts of German ammunition. This would be useless to them.
Most allied troops forgot to carry their gas mask. The film is set in 1918, years after gas masks were introduced to all soldiers.
A Sergeant carried a Webely MK VI revolver, which was only issued to officers.
A modern studio spotlight magically appeared in the dead of night.
A gent shot in the thigh began to choke on his blood, whilst standing upright.
The German trenches were very poorly built, and only a few feet deep.
Officers were wearing putties.
It was far too dry, despite troops complaining about the wet weather.
A man shot in the back fully recovered in a few hours with no medical attention.
-I am only 45 minutes in. This film is simply awful-
In conclusion, I cannot bear to watch any more of this simply dreadful film. I could do a better job in my garden with no funding.
