nothing new about Leonardo
I saw the film on the ARTE TV station part of a thematic evening dedicated to Leonardo DaVinci. It's a solid documentary following the chronological order of the events in the life of Leonardo, focusing on the hidden symbols of the paintings and trying to draw from them answers to the many questions raised by this complex genius of the Renaissance. There is no big and new revelation about the life and the work, but a few of the usual theories about his homosexuality and his adherence to marginal currents of Christianity are looked upon quite in-depth. Although the documentary comment does not mention the DavVinci Code fiction book or movie even once it rides well on the interest the blockbusters created. I liked the fact that his principal masterpieces are well analyzed and filmed, and here lies I believe the principal interest of the movie, at least from the perspective of the art lovers.
