On September 5, 1977 in Colgone, Germany during the German Autumn of 1977, businessman Hanns-Martin Schleyer is kidnapped by Palestinian-Arabic terrorists from the RAF (Red Army Fraction). They demand the release of their former leaders Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin and Jan-Carl Raspe from the , who are arrested in the prison of Stammheim Prison in Stuttgart, Germany. However, the democratic West German party, lead by Chancellor Helmut Schmidt refuses to negotiate with terrorists and doesn't want to give into their demands because he doesn't want to ruin his or Germany's reputation so that it remains as a powerful, strong, free and democratic country. For exterior and interior shots of the aircraft, the film crews and the director rented a Boeing 737-2B6(Adv) serial 21214 / 449 registered CN-RMI of Royal Air Maroc. The plane is located in Casablanca Anfa airport stored in a hangar and used for training purposes of ground staff only. It was fully repainted in the 1970s Lufthansa livery colors as a replica to to replicate the actual aircraft involved in the incident. The director, camera crews, producers and the rest of the filmmakers were granted permission to rent and fully repaint the aircraft and use it for the film, as well as repaint the control tower and other airport buildings and infrastructure. The real aircraft was used for scenes where the plane was taxing, refueling, towing or parking.
