Storyline

Rabia is a dramatic biopic based on Wafa Idris, Palestine's first female suicide bomber. Directed and written by Miguel Ali (aka Muhammad Miguel Ali Hasan), the story chronicles the major events of Idris's life, including an abusive past, with every event piecing together the feelings behind her tragic decision. Rabia has screened at over 85 film festivals, winning over 35 awards, including recognition for its directing, writing, cinematography, editing, sound design and production design, and is currently being distributed worldwide by Elypse Films. Despite its controversial reviews, director Miguel Ali proudly maintains Rabia as an anti-terrorism film saying, "I don't think people are born evil. Beautifully made, with a story that draws you in and leaves you wanting more.

With subject matter like this, you would find it hard to think you could become so drawn into the character. Within the first couple minutes your already enthralled with this young woman, and her life leading up to her final moments. In looking through the taboo subject matter, you get a personal glimpse into the mind of someone stuck in an endless cycle of violence, and what it took to push her into the decision that she has made.

The cinematography and writing were outstanding, and the acting was very good, all in all making this one of the better short films i've seen. A must watch.
