Siblings Mimi and Luke unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord. Using a magical amulet, they force the monster to obey their childish whims, and accidentally attract a rogues' gallery of intergalactic assassins to small-town suburbia.
Impossible to define, or to rate - it's a love or hate affair
This movie so many things, some good some bad, all weird. I've never seen anything quite like it.
It seems to be a mashup of comedy, children's story, gore-fest, fantasy, family, action and a dash of Power Ranger-esque fight sequences.
Yet it isn't really for children / families, or adults, or horror fans or any standard demographic... except "weird".
There are effectively two primary characters, the little girl (Mimi) and Psycho Goreman.
Psycho Goreman is awesome, the little girl is beyond annoying. I wish there was more Psycho Goreman background stories in the movie.
So why a 6 out of 10. I thought it was funny and liked the unique concept on most levels. The acting wasn't great, and the mashup could have the family portion removed. If you can get 15-30 minutes into the movie it means you are enjoying it enough to continue because it isn't going to change much after that.
