- The end is nigh. Lucifer, Chloe, Maze and Amenadiel prepare for battle with Michael and his not-so-angelic army of supporters.
- Lucifer and his friends race to stop Michael from gathering the pieces of the Flaming Blade, and confirming that he's the new God. When Chloe is killed, Lucifer must risk everything to bring her back from Heaven and stop his brother from ascending to the throne of the Silver City.—Gislef
- A prison bus is transporting prisoners through the desert, and one prison uses a paper clip to open his manacles. He then calls for a guard upfront, and the man comes back to check on them. The freed prisoner chokes the guard with his chains, and the driver is accidentally shot when the guard tries to go for his gun. The bus goes out of control and off a nearby cliff.
At Lux, Lucifer sits at the bar and drinks. Michael comes in and plays at the piano. Lucifer, noticing, goes over and grabs his twin brother, who insists that he's not there to fight. He points out that the human customers might be harmed if Lucifer attacks him, and Lucifer laughs it off for the benefit of the bystanders. Michael tells Lucifer that there's no point in fighting because he's already won, has assembled the Flaming Sword, and has the majority of angels on his side. Lucifer wonders why Michael is there, and Michael explains that he's trying to avoid bloodshed and make peace.
Michael offers Lucifer the throne in Hell, with Chloe at Lucifer's side. Lucifer points out that only someone's guilt can take them to Hell, and Michael points out that Chloe blames herself for Dan's death. Lucifer wonders if Michael set the whole thing up, and Michael says that it was a happy accident that the mercenaries captured Dan. Lucifer angrily throws a punch which Michael easily catches, and tells his brother to focus on the future with Chloe. He gives Lucifer time to think about it, but warns that the vote is tomorrow and will be on Earth since Lucifer can't travel to Heaven without incinerating.
At Dan's apartment, Amenadiel, Linda, and Maze pack Dan's things. Amenadiel points out to Linda a photo of him and Dan at a baseball game, and Maze angrily puts it away and says that caring about people just causes grief over inanimate "junk". She finds Trixie's t-shirt that Dan "borrowed" when the demon dumped him off naked at Chloe's house, and rages as she cries and says that she misses him
Linda tells Maze that it'll be okay, and says that it's true that caring about people causes pain and loss. Amenadiel agrees and says that for none of them to be sad, they would have never met Dan and none of them would want that. She talks about the "beauty" of her and Dan killing the gang, and the couple says that never loving someone is far worse than loss.
Lucifer sits in the penthouse drinking, and Chloe comes in at his invitation and says that Trixie is with Penelope and Dan's parents. Lucifer says that he needs to be God for Dan's sake, and explains why Michael had Dan killed to make Chloe feel guilty, so Lucifer would go back to Hell. He says that Chloe mustn't feel guilty, but she says that's not how emotions work and tells him to demonstrate by making himself vulnerable.
Unable to do so, Lucifer says that it isn't the same and Chloe can't let Michael win. Chloe figures that Dan is in Heaven. Before Lucifer can explain he isn't, Remiel falls in and then collapses dead of a stab wound to the stomach. Chloe figures that Remiel was killed with Azrael's Blade rather than the Flaming Sword, since there are no burns. Remiel's feathers are covered in dust, and Lucifer asks Chloe to become the detective one last time.
At the station, Ella prays to God and is glad Dan is with God, but she misses Dan. She admits that things are dark, and it feels like God isn't there anymore. Ella asks God to give her a sign that she's where she's supposed to be. Chloe comes in and is glad that Ella is in, and Ella takes that as God's sign. She checks the feather and founds yeast on it, and tells Lucifer privately that he can trust her and figures he hit an emu with his car. Chloe talks to Lucifer privately and says that TJ operated out of a beer factory. Lucifer asks Ella for a favor.
Eve is at the bar in Lux, waiting for a date she set up via text, and Maze sits down with Eve. Maze figures that Eve is waiting for her date, and Eve figures that Maze pretended to be her date. The demon says that she's decided that she doesn't care if Eve dies. Eve is touched, and they kiss.
At the beer factor, archangels Raziel and Ibriel beat TJ despite the fact he holds the piece of the Sword. Michael comes in and takes the piece from TJ. Ibriel figures that they can kill TJ, and "Michael" removes the scar makeup Ella put in him, revealing that he's Lucifer. As he prepares to fight the two angels, Michael comes in and cuts TJ's throat and takes the piece.
Michael asks the angels if they want a God who slaughters the innocent for selfish gain. Ibriel says that humans don't matter, and Lucifer points out that Michael killed Remiel. Raziel doesn't believe it, and Michael says that he did what he had to. Chloe comes up and shoots him, and Michael points out that bullets can't hurt him. She says that it was just a distraction, and Lucifer flies off. When Michael turns to look at Lucifer, Chloe slips away.
At her house, Linda has Charlie try and walk for Amenadiel. Charlie falls, and Linda worries that Charlie falls twice as much as the other children in his group. Amenadiel says they should let Charlie figure it out for himself, and Linda tells wonders how they can do. The angel says that he fell again and again, and getting back up was the most empowering experience of his life. Linda isn't convinced, and Lucifer calls Amenadiel and tells him that their sister is dead.
That night, Amenadiel and Lucifer bury Remiel's body in the forest as Chloe stands guard. Lucifer says that if God had chosen a successor, Remiel and Dan wouldn't be dead. Amenadiel tells his brother that they have to risk falling if they want to fly, and God had faith in them. Lucifer sass that his choice was wrong, and Michael is going to be God because of his choice not to kill TJ. When Lucifer says that he was a coward, Chloe tells him that it's not cowardly to save a life, or to fight for a single soul. Chloe tells her that they have to fight, and Lucifer points out that the angels are invulnerable. Maze arrives, gives her blade to Chloe, and says that she can forge it down into bullets to use against the angels. Lucifer tells Chloe that she's not fighting, but Chloe insists that she is.
Lucifer points out that they're still outnumbered, and Amenadiel has an idea for how they can get reinforcements. Maze agrees and says that they can't hold back from killing, and Lucifer echoes Chloe's word about it not being cowardly to save a single life, and tells the others that they should make one last bad choice.
The next morning at the LA Coliseum, Lucifer and Chloe arrive and Amenadiel joins them. He tells the others that it's taking Maze a while to gather their reinforcements, and Lucifer figures that they'll have to stall. On the field, Michael and the angels are waiting for them. Amenadiel says that they accept Michael as God, and Lucifer starts to say that he does as well. He then mocks Michael's uniform, and demands a vote.
Michael has everyone else confirm that they're voting for him. Lucifer says that he knows the angels don't want him or Michael, and Michael is threatening them with the Sword. He starts to say why he wants to be God, and Zadkiel interrupts him and says that Lucifer told him he wants it for love. The other angels laugh, and Zadkiel says that it's the best reason someone can have. He joins Lucifer and says that Lucifer is worthy, and asks who will join him. Raziel hesitantly joins them, but no one else. Michael says that they have the numbers and he is God.
Gabriel suggests that it has to be unanimous, and Michael figures they can do that by getting rid of the opposing votes. Raziel rejoins Michael, and Lucifer bursts into song claiming God is influencing him. Amenadiel, Chloe, and Zadkiel join him, and Michael realizes that they're stalling for time.
Maze, Eve, and the bus prisoners whose corpses are now demon-occupied arrive, and stand at Lucifer's side. Two of the Angels spread their wings and fly, and Chloe shoots them down. Lucifer challenges Michael to a duel for Godhood rather than risk widespread bloodshed, Michael says that it's to the death and assembles the Sword, and Lucifer agrees. Lucifer punches Michael repeatedly, but Michael rallies and kicks Lucifer down. Amenadiel tosses Lucifer Zadkiel's Staff of Judgement, and Lucifer parries the Swords and the brothers fly into the air to continue their duel.
Michael finally cuts the Staff in half, and Lucifer falls to the ground Michal deliver the killing blow, and Lucifer grabs his brother's hands. Chloe runs over and pulls out the necklace piece. Lucifer picks up the discarded Azrael's Blade, and turns to see Azrael there. She says that she's sorry, and Michael stabs her in stomach with one half of the Staff. Lucifer runs to the dying Chloe, blaming himself. Chloe says that it's not his fault, and they make their own choices. She chose to be there, and what happened to Dan isn't her fault. Chloe tells Lucifer that her death isn't his fault, and dies in his arms.
Michael tells Lucifer that Chloe made peace with her guilt and probably made it to Heaven. Lucifer says that he's going to get Chloe back and flies to Heaven. Maze ignores Amenadiel's orders to hold, and leads her demons and Eve in a charge on the angels. After a moment, Amenadiel and Zadkiel join them.
In Heaven, Chloe finds herself with her father John. They share a picnic by a lake, then watch as a flaming meteor shoots overhead.
Lucifer crashes to earth, and Lee Garner walks up. Lilith's ring is protecting him from incinerating immediately, and Lee helps Lucifer up and says that they're in Heaven. Lee explains that he took Lucifer's advice and faced his family, and made it to Heaven. They go to the lake, Lucifer slowly incinerating, and Chloe goes to him. He tells Chloe that it's not her time and she needs to come back, and she remembers the war, Trixie, her friends, and Lucifer. John tells Chloe that he's not going anywhere, but people on Earth could use her help.
Lucifer says that there's not enough power for both of them to go back, then takes off the ring and gives it to Chloe, saying that he chooses her. He incinerates and says that he loves Chloe, and Chloe awakens on Earth. The angels and demons are fighting, taking casualties on both sides. Amenadiel, Zadkiel, Maze, and Eve are surrounded while Michael realizes that Chloe is alive. He prepares to kill her again, and Chloe climbs to her feet and hits Michael with superhuman strength from the necklace.
Chloe beats Michael and then prepares to kill him with the Blade. Lucifer flies down and tells her to stop, and says that it isn't her. He takes the Blade from Chloe, tells Michael to kneels, cuts off his wings with the reassembled Blade, and says that everyone deserves a second chance.
Chloe wonders how Lucifer survived, and he tells her that he doesn't know. The opposing sides have stopped fighting and gathered, and first Amenadiel and then others--even Michael--bend the knee to Lucifer, acknowledging that he's now God. Lucifer raises the Blade and accepts their acknowledgment.
