Happytime Murders and Mile 22 Get New Release Dates

Stx Entertainment has delayed the release of two of their upcoming summer movies. Both The Happytime Murders and Mile 22 have been bumped back slightly, but are both still arriving in theaters this August. These moves shouldn't necessarily be cause for concern, assuming you're excited about either or both of these late summer releases. It seems to be more of a strategic repositioning by Stx. Your scheduled Mark Wahlberg action movie and R-rated Melissa McCarthy puppet comedy should be coming more or less as intended, just slightly later.

Starting with Mile 22, the Peter Berg directed action flick has been bumped back by two weeks. The movie, which stars Mark Wahlberg in the lead, alongside Lauren Cohan, Iko Uwais, Ronda Rousey, and John Malkovich, was originally set to debut on August 3. Stx has now moved its opening date to August 17. In its new spot, Mile 22 will be competing with

Mark Wahlberg on Crafting a New Action Franchise with ‘Mile 22’

Through three films, Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg have created one of today’s most distinct actor-director pairings, melding the action-adventure genre within true-to-life stories. It’s hard to think of films that blend blow-em-up spectacle with emotional gravitas as effortlessly as Lone Survivor, Patriot’s Day and Deepwater Horizon. Their latest (fourth) collaboration, Mile 22, however, eschews this format, doing away with the true-life side and going all in on the action spectacle. As Wahlberg himself says, the duo just wanted to “have some fun.” Being on set—I can attest to …

MoviePass Launches a New Film Division MoviePass Films

MoviePass is making another big move! Their parent company Helios & Matheson Analytics has launched a new subsidiary called MoviePass Films. They are in the process of acquiring the already existing Emmett Furla Oasis Films, which is a producer of films such as Lone Survivor, Rambo, End of Watch, and more. They will take on the company's current slate of films, on top of the John Travolta John Gotti biopic, which MoviePass is already backing.

Some of the other films that Efo plans on releasing include Boss Level with Naomi Watts and Mel Gibson; 2Guns, Escape Plan 2 and Escape Plan 3 with Sylvester Stallone; and Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

MoviePass is acting like they are in a strong position right now and trying to expand their business model. But regardless, Deadline still believes that MoviePass will be out of business soon, especially with the big summer season upon us.

In fact, the company is so healthy, they just purchased their very own production company!

That’s right, Helios and Matheson have purchased Emmett Furla Oasis Films, who have produced such films as “Lone Survivor” and “End of Watch,” according to Variety.

MoviePass Parent Company Acquiring Emmett Furla Oasis Films (Exclusive)

Helios and Matheson Analytics, the parent company of MoviePass, has acquired the exclusive option to buy Emmett Furla Oasis Films, the producers of “Lone Survivor” and “End of Watch,” Variety has learned.

If completed, the deal will enable the company to buy the entire film library and current production slate of Efo Films. Helios and Matheson plans to use the library and the filmmaking expertise of Efo Films to launch its own production company, MoviePass Films. Randall Emmett and George Furla will serve as co-ceo’s of the new venture.

The deal comes as MoviePass, best known for allowing customers to see a movie a day for less than $10 a month, is facing questions about its long-term future and current capitalization. Last week, Helios and Matheson’s stock fell to 40 cents-a-share, its lowest closing price, amid investor alarm about a cash shortage. In October, Helios and Matheson’s stock had been trading at $38.86 a share.

Mark Wahlberg Comes Under Heavy Fire in Mile 22 Trailer

Mark Wahlberg Comes Under Heavy Fire in Mile 22 Trailer
The first trailer for Mile 22 has arrived. This movie continues the strong collaborations between director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg. The pair have previously worked together on movies like Lone Survivor, Patriot's Day and Deepwater Horizon and apparently, they enjoy one another's company, as they're once again hitched to the same cinematic wagon. This time, it's in a gritty, action flick that certainly looks like one of Berg's movies, in that there is a lot of stuff blowing up and it feels like true Wahlberg, given all of the quips and one-liners.

This first trailer for Mile 22 is very much red band, so if you're at work, maybe put on some headphones. There is quite a bit of uncensored violence and language that would make Captain America blush in this footage. As we see in the video, Mark Wahlberg is part of a super secret team called Overwatch that does not exist,

‘Mile 22’ First Trailer: Mark Wahlberg Helms a Rogue International Rescue Mission with Help From Ronda Rousey — Watch

‘Mile 22’ First Trailer: Mark Wahlberg Helms a Rogue International Rescue Mission with Help From Ronda Rousey — Watch
The fourth filmic team-up of director Peter Berg and his frequent star Mark Wahlberg now has an official trailer. “Mile 22” follows James Silva (Wahlberg), an intelligence officer in the CIA’s secretive Overwatch division (based on the real-life paramilitary squad Ground Branch); at last month’s STXfilms CinemaCon presentation, it was revealed that Berg nicknamed the character “the lighthouse,” as he “roots out evil.” Yet Silva also has plenty of swagger: the footage has him lobbing a grenade and declaring himself “a killer who looks like a hero.”

In this first installment of an intended franchise — a sequel, television series, and Vr component are already planned — Silva and his assault rifle-carrying command team travel to Southeast Asia, locate a cop (Iko Uwais) with knowledge that could unleash a radioactive attack, and sneak him to safety before American adversaries intervene. The cast includes John Malkovich, “The Walking Dead” actress Lauren Cohan,

Mark Wahlberg And Lauren Cohan Are Badass Special Ops Agents In Mile 22 Trailer

Mark Wahlberg is in an action film again, and he teaming back up with Lone Survivor director Peter Berg for what should be an entertaining romp. Wahlberg really stars front and center in this first trailer for Mile 22, but there are quite a few names that might put butts in seats for this feature. Lauren Cohan, Iko Uwais, Ronda Rousey, and John Malkovich are also on board, and as much as I want to shit on this film just off the principal that I'm a bit sick of seeing Marky Mark, I can't say it doesn't look interesting. Check out the trailer and the synopsis for the film below:

In a visceral modern thriller from the director of Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA’s most highly-prized and least-understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport
