The intention and motivation behind the documentary was quite present. Was it executed correctly? Absolutely not. I would have liked to see and hear more from actual politicians, academics, students, theoreticians that are more familiar with the topic being discussed. The film itself had so much potential but was lacking in various aspects. What is structural racism? What role does society play in structural racism? What role does government play in structural racism? These are some of the many questions that could have been answered through the documentary but failed to do so. More research could have been done. The film is centered around Handler, which is the number one mistake. She is the main driving force of the film. Quite frankly if I wanted to know more about her personal biography, I would have simply read one of her books.
