Storyline

Inspired by true events, Eddie the Eagle is a feel-good story about Michael "Eddie" Edwards (Taron Egerton), an unlikely but courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself - even as an entire nation was counting him out. With the help of a rebellious and charismatic coach (played by Hugh Jackman), Eddie takes on the establishment and wins the hearts of sports fans around the world by making an improbable and historic showing at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. From producers of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie the Eagle stars Taron Egerton as Eddie, the loveable underdog with a never say die attitude. Written by 20th Century Fox

Trivia

The wording of the chant that the crowd often cheered for Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics in Alberta, Canada was "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie". See more »

Goofs

Establishing scenes during Eddie heading to Europe in 1987 have the Deacon Blue song REAL GONE KID playing over the top. Whilst it fit in with the mood of the scene quite nicely, this tune was not actually released until Autumn 1988. It doesn't really exist within the movie; it's for the audience's benefit. See more »

Go see it, better than 90 percent of the garbage out there

Saw this movie at an advance screening and Eddie the Eagle was awesome.

The movie did not disappoint at all.

Great insight into the story of Eddie Edwards and the sport of ski jumping.

Very dangerous sport but very beautiful to look at.

The movie had a lot of heart and humor.

Will look forward to this movie making its way on Blu-ray.

I would gladly pay to add it to my collection.

Great visuals as well.

I wish the movie gets the praise it deserves as it really is better than a lot of the trash coming thru movie theaters now.
