Lady Gaga Debuts on Rock Band

Rock Band is releasing a four pack of Lady Gaga’s music, including the songs: “Bad Romance,” “Just Dance,” “Monster,” and “Poker Face.” Starting next week the pack will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360, and individual songs will be available for all three major consoles. In addition, a special cover of “Poker Face” done by South Park’s Eric Cartman will also be made available.

I’m probably the last person to be giving my opinion on Rock Band or Lady Gaga. Any love I have for the plastic music peripheral genre slowly dies with every track pack or expansion released. And Lady Gaga gives me the creeps. Nonetheless I’m sure there’s a good many of you out there who just can’t wait until next week to sing some “Bad Romance.” Have fun!

The pack will sell for $7, or you can buy the individual tracks for $2 apiece.

'South Park' Takes On Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face'

By Brian Jacks

Leave it to the hard-hitting folks at "South Park" to do more for conservationism than fifteen cable reality shows put together. In last night's episode, the long-running Comedy Central series took on Japan's heavily-criticized whaling industry by way of targeting the do-nothing marauder antics of Animal Planet's aquatic melodrama "Whale Wars."

But while character Stan Marsh was off sinking fishing boats (and generating headlines like "New 'Whale Wars' Cast Member Turns Vegan P---ies Into Actual Pirates"), fellow South Park resident Eric Cartman was adding some flavor to the proceedings with an amazing interpretation of none other than Lady Gaga's Vma-nominated "Poker Face."

First introduced while playing "Rock Band" earlier in the show, Cartman's enthusiastic rendition of "Poker Face" was later memorialized during a particularly hilarious montage later in the episode. Check out that first scene below, and if you have the time, click

Economy takes toll on Viacom 2Q

New York - Viacom Inc. posted weaker second-quarter financials early Tuesday as continued advertising weakness amid the recession, weaker sales of video game "Rock Band" and tough film comparisons dragged down the results.

On the earnings call, chairman Sumner Redstone said the National Amusements theaters sale is also progressing. "Whatever you may hear from the uninformed, there is a substantial amount of interest (from several parties)," he said.

Viacom's earnings dropped 32% from the year-ago period to $277 million. Operating income declined 26% to $586 million despite a $352 million net reduction in expenses. Excluding severance charges, operating income decreased 22% to $619 million. Revenue fell 14% to $3.3 billion.

Management in a statement pointed out a stabilization of advertising declines in the quarter, but also signaled the expectation that an economic recovery will take time.

"While the global economy continued to be a challenge in the second quarter, the diversity of our revenue streams, sequential improvement in our domestic advertising sales,
