More than just a companion piece to an excellent album
Really enjoyed this. I already considered Western Stars one of Bruce's best albums in a long time, now this makes the perfect companion piece.
In many ways, it's actually more than just a companion piece. It's the perfect way in which to experience these songs. The stories by Bruce to introduce each song work perfectly and help create what is a really great atmosphere.
I loved the barn-setting and orchestra. I personally enjoyed this a lot more than I did Bruce's other recent special Springsteen On Broadway. Highlights here were "Tuscon Train", "Western Stars", "Sleepy Joe's Cafe", "There Goes My Miracle" and Bruce's rendition of Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Campbell" (the latter which was a fantastic way to end the show).
Definitely makes me want to go listen to this album on repeat for a while, so as to re-live the magic of this! Highly recommend to Springsteen fans.
