Sometimes it can feel like a portal to hell has just opened up before you, sucking everything good in life down a deep dark hole of despair. A pretty common feeling these days, if you’re unlucky enough to have eyes or ears. In Woody Bess’ dark comedy Portal To Hell, a depressed debt collector discovers his very own portal to hell in a dryer at his local laundry mat. Featuring supporting performances from Keith David (The Thing), Michael McDonald and Richard Kind (Beau is Afraid) as a carefree demon, Portal To Hell is a goofy and poignant tale about coming to terms with death…and taking a few bad people with you on the way down.
Dunn (Trey Holland) spends his days getting yelled at over the phone in his apartment, trying to squeeze blood from a stone with customers who owe thousands in medical bills. His only pleasant interactions are with his gruff,...

The third season of Reacher recently arrived on Prime Video, and once again trouble has found the show’s titular character. This season follows Reacher as he infiltrates the nefarious rug business of a man named Zachary Beck. Acting undercover as a man on the run, Reacher is tasked with locating a missing DEA informant while he works to uncover how his old foe Quinn is mixed up with Beck’s business.
As is the case with every season of Reacher, its cast of characters always changes. While a few characters have made various appearances here and there throughout the series, the show’s core characters each season are always different. Given Reacher prefers to travel from city to city with nothing but a toothbrush in his pocket, he always encounters a brand-new set of allies and enemies. Below is the cast of Season 3 and where viewers have seen them before.

Hollywood actor Anthony Michael Hall, who became a household name in the ’80s with his iconic roles in John Hughes movies like Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, had spent much of his career defying the typecasting that followed his early fame. Over the years, he has become no stranger to playing complex and negative characters, but his latest role in Reacher takes his acting to new depths.

Anthony Michael Hall has spent his career pursuing roles that allowed him to empathize with all kinds of characters. He’s always looking for that depth, that drive — that hook that inspires him to dig his teeth into a script, and defy expectations — and to prove he’s much more than the nerd from ’80s Brat Pack movies like “The Breakfast Club” and “Sixteen Candles.”
His newest role is playing an arms dealer on the third season of “Reacher,” the hit Amazon Prime Video show about an ex-military police drifter who travels the United States, busting up increasingly outsized criminal enterprises. For any actor, “Reacher” is a huge platform, but Hall was laser-focused on the complexity of his character, Zachary Beck, who poses as a humble rug importer.
“It’s a very rich character,” he says. “He has a cover for his life, and is operating within this framework of a criminal network.

One of Hollywood’s biggest cheerleaders has been sidelined at this year’s Oscars. Jamie Lee Curtis was snubbed for her performance in The Last Showgirl despite recent Best Supporting Actress nominations at both the SAG Awards and BAFTAs. Curtis plays Shelly’s older best friend, Annette, a cocktail waitress who was ousted from the show years prior. After starting off his career by directing independent dramas like George Washington and All the Real Girls, David Gordon Green shifted over to making stoner comedies like Pineapple Express and Your Highness for a while, then made his horror debut by taking the helm of a full trilogy of Halloween sequels: the 2018 Halloween, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends. That trilogy turned out to be rather divisive – some fans love what Green did with them, others were disappointed with how the story played out. Then he was planning to direct a trilogy of sequels to The Exorcist… but when The Exorcist: Believer was poorly received, he stepped away from that project. He’s currently doing the press rounds for his latest film, the family holiday comedy Nutcrackers, and during an interview with MovieWeb he shared advice and encouragement for directors who have the chance to work on established franchises like he...

Hollywood tie-in novelist Tim Waggoner discusses his creative process and the constraints of working within the confines of the movie he's adapting.
Waggoner is an accomplished tie-in novelist, with film novelizations like Halloween Kills, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Alien, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and television novelizations like Supernatural, Grimm and Stargate Sg-1 under his belt. He's written original fiction as well. Waggoner told The Hollywood Reporter about his experience writing for the A24 film trilogy starring Mia Goth. One of the great challenges of being a tie-in novelist is the lack of communication with the original work's creators.

After directing the Halloween sequel trilogy and an Exorcist reboot, David Gordon Green is back in the comedy genre with Nutcrackers — but it hasn’t done any better on Rotten Tomatoes than his horror films. Green has had a very interesting genre-hopping career trajectory. He first broke out in independent cinema with acclaimed dramas like George Washington, All the Real Girls, and Snow Angels. Then, he pivoted to making studio comedies with the likes of Pineapple Express, The Sitter, and Your Highness. Then, he pivoted to horror films with revivals of some of the genre’s biggest franchises.
Now, he’s firmly back in comedy territory with his new Christmas movie Nutcrackers, which is now streaming on Hulu. Ben Stiller leads the cast of Nutcrackers as a childless workaholic who has to relocate to rural Ohio to take care of his recently orphaned nephews. Sometimes Tim Waggoner can make up scenes, and sometimes he can’t.
Take his work on Terrifier 2, a novelization of the popular 2022 killer-clown slasher movie. The studio wanted a 100,000-word prose adaptation of a film that was under two and a half hours, necessitating some creative license from the author. “If Art the Clown is running around killing people, I can just have him kill some more people,” says Waggoner of that book, which published this past October. “At one point in the movie, he’s driving a van, so I’m like, ‘Oh, where’d he get his van?’ So I wrote a scene where he got the van.”
But on Waggoner’s first published works for A24 — book adaptations of the X trilogy — the mandate was different: Don’t complicate writer-director Ti West’s creative vision. And so in X (published Sept. 24), Pearl (Nov. 19) and the upcoming...

Nutcrackers marks the return of Ben Stiller in a leading role. He plays Mike, who heads to the heart of Ohio to care for his four rambunctious nephews in the aftermath of his sister and her husband passing away in a tragic car accident. Though initially hesitant, Mike realizes they may be the family he's always needed.
Director David Gordon Green was inspired by real-life brothers - Homer Janson, Ulysses Janson, Arlo Janson, and Atlas Janson - and actually filmed on their family farm. This is the first acting role for all four boys. Green is well known in the horror world for movies like Halloween Kills (2021) and Halloween (2018), but is no stranger to comedy either, as he directs and produces The Righteous Gemstones.

Halloween Kills star Judy Greer opened up about her experience filming Lionsgates upcoming film adaptation of Stephen Kings dystopian horror novel The Long Walk. This wont be the first time that Greer will be starring in a Stephen King movie, as she previously played Miss Desjardin in the 2013 adaptation of Carrie.
During a recent interview with Collider, Greer teased what the audiences can expect to see from The Long Walk movie, while sharing how exciting it was to be working with its young talented cast. "Its based on a novel Stephen King wrote in 1979. It was in response to the Vietnam War. Our movie kind of takes place again in sort of like a timeless place," she shared. "Like theres some technology, but then theres a lot of throwback elements to the script. Francis Lawrence directed it, and Cooper Hoffman is the star. There are so many great young actors in this movie.

Jamie Lee Curtis, who played final girl Laurie Strode in the Halloween series, teased a possible return to the horror franchise. After starring in the original Halloween movie in 1978, Curtis has gone on to appear in six more Halloween films. The most recent installment, 2022's Halloween Ends, served as a conclusion to David Gordon Green's reboot trilogy which began in 2018. However, over its almost 50-year history, the Halloween franchise has ended and then started again in a new form multiple times, so it wouldn't be surprising for another Halloween movie to be released sooner rather than later.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Curtis revealed she may be open to returning to the role. This comes as a surprise, as in the build-up to Halloween Ends, Curtis claimed it would be her last time playing Laurie Strode. It seems only right on All Hallows Eve that Jamie Lee Curtis might be cryptically teasing another go-round with the unstoppable Michael Myers in the Halloween franchise. During a brand-new interview, the famed Scream Queen spoke about a number of her upcoming projects, including her reunion with on-screen daughter Lindsay Lohan in next years Freakier Friday. However, the conversation took an intriguing turn when Curtis also insinuated that she might not be done with The Shape just yet. Curtis told Entertainment Weekly:

Halloweens villain Michael Myers has become a cinematic icon and a favorite among horror fans, and while many are aware that Michael Myers was originally named The Shape, they might not know why. The Halloween franchise has seen many ups and downs with multiple retcons, remakes, and reboots of the series. Though not all Halloween films have been successful, they have certainly helped maintain the popularity and reputation of Michael Myers, who is now part of pop culture, being referred to and parodied on multiple occasions in different films and TV shows from all genres.
Michael Myers is credited as "The Shape in the original Halloween before being officially credited as "Michael Myers" in the sequels, only for the most recent Halloween trilogy, including Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, to return to crediting him as The Shape. For a lot of horror fans, October is their favorite month of the year, giving us 31 full days to watch even more horror movies than we do throughout the rest of the year, including films that are set on the holiday that ends the month: Halloween. What is the legacy of David Gordon Green's "Halloween" reboot trilogy? When the first film, "Halloween," arrived in 2018, fans and even critics were impressed — a dormant franchise was alive again! But then Green would go on to make two more movies, both of which were met with a much more lukewarm reception. The sequel "Halloween Kills" had plenty of gore, but it was also a bit of a mess and not nearly as praised as the 2018 movie. Then came "Halloween Ends." Marketed as the definitive conclusion to the story of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, "Halloween Ends" was drubbed by both critics and loyal fans. As a result, the general consensus surrounding Green's trilogy these days seems to be negative. But what if I told you that "Halloween Ends" is ... good, actually? In fact, it might even be great. And you don't have to take my word for it! Stephen King,...

Back in 2018, Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green had great success rebooting the long-running "Halloween" film franchise with a movie frustratingly just called "Halloween." The 2018 "Halloween" ignored every other sequel to come after John Carpenter's 1978 original, taking place in a world where Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) was not the sister of Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney), and where Michael had been languishing in a mental institution for 40 years. That film spawned two sequels in its own miniature continuity, "Halloween Kills" in 2021 and "Halloween Ends" in 2022.
Blumhouse and Green were clearly hoping that lightning could strike twice, as Jason Blum infamously purchased the rights to "The Exorcist" in 2021 for $400 million. The plan was for Green to direct another reboot trilogy that also ignored all the extant sequels to date, catching up with the characters from the first film decades later. Sadly, the first film in this proposed trilogy, called "The Exorcist: Believer,...

The “Halloween” movie series has had quite a journey, spanning over four decades and presenting multiple timelines that can leave even the most devoted fans scratching their heads. Hollywood has long turned to sequels as a way of extending the relevance and success of iconic franchises, from slashers like Psycho to action movies like Die Hard. Typically, the film industry will release sequels in close succession, establishing a consistency for fans to count on regular outings for their favorite heroes until no longer profitable. For some movies, however, audiences have to wait decades for a continuation of a beloved story.
Sequels can take a while to come to fruition for a variety of reasons, from studios hesitant to give the green light to the original creators refusing new scripts or stars not wanting to come back. The 2010s and 2020s have been something of a golden age of sequels that fans had given up on, and many of them have been more than worth the wait. Not every sequel woos fans of the original, but sometimes it's better...

When John Carpenter made the original “Halloween” in 1978, it was just another horror movie in a long line of horror movies. But the blockbuster success of this low-budget movie, about a masked killer murdering babysitters, made “Halloween” a cultural institution. The film spawned legions of imitators and codified the slasher genre as we still know it. And yet the official “Halloween” franchise has often struggled to meet the standard of the movie that inspired the craze. Let’s look back at all of these classic (and not so classic) horror movies, and see how they stack up.

Adapted by Tim Waggoner, author of the Halloween Kills and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter novelizations, the Terrifier 2 novelization will be unleashed on October 8, 2024, from Titan Books, in partnership with Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting.
In this gruesome novelization of the hit horror film, the nightmarish Art the Clown returns from the dead to continue his murderous and mad spree in the sleepy town of Miles County, one year after they survived the events of Terrifier. Little do they know the nightmare is about to begin anew.
Resurrected by a sinister entity, Art is back with an appetite for murder...

The new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie has confirmed its first legacy character, and now I really need it to avoid a legacy sequel tradition. The horror genre continues to revive some of its most popular sagas and franchises through legacy sequels, and among them is I Know What You Did Last Summer. Loosely based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan, I Know What You Did Last Summer capitalized on the revival of the slasher genre in the 1990s and introduced the audience to a group of friends haunted by a mysterious killer.
Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr), Barry (Ryan Phillippe), and Helen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) ran over a man and dumped his body in the water, but he was still alive. A year later, a killer in a raincoat wielding a hook targeted the group as he knew their secret,...

Legendary author Stephen King wasn’t yet a legendary author when he stayed at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado back in 1974 – but that stay helped him on his way to legendary status, because it inspired him to write the novel The Shining. Fifty years later, Blumhouse Productions and the Peacock streaming service have announced that they’re teaming up to take over the Lodge at the Stanley hotel for a weekend event called the Overnightmare, which is scheduled to take place from Friday, October 18th through Sunday, October 20th. For that weekend, rooms will be themed to one of four Blumhouse films – Insidious, The Purge, Happy Death Day, and Freaky.
A press release invites genre fans to “Step (and sleep) inside the worlds of Blumhouse’s Insidious, The Purge, Freaky and Happy Death Day at Peacock and Blumhouse’s “Overnightmare,” a one-weekend-only experience at the iconic Stanley Hotel...

Although Kyle Richards’ personal life has been the center of attraction for years, it’d be foul to undermine the actress’ unrelenting approach to acting. After a prolonged absence from the realm of showbiz for almost half a decade, Kyle Richards returned to reprise the role of Lindsey, one of the kids from the first Halloween release, in Halloween Kills.
