Decent watch
jkt200620 June 2020
Was totally entertaining from the word go. It begins to feel more like a gradually paced thriller after the first 15 minutes and it's totally worth your time. Well scripted and acted by all especially the two leading women characters.

One of the very few good Lifetime flicks

Warning: Spoilers
I had seen this movie (The Babysitter's Revenge as it's titled now - not Glass Houses as it is here on imdb) last year and meant to write a review, and having now just seen it again, I want to be sure to give credit where it's due. Usually with the dime-a-dozen bad LMN movie after another, I post scathing reviews here with ratings barely over 2 or 3. But this one is actually good and clever and enjoyable, with good acting, directing, and a good script.

Bree Turner was excellent in her role of a selfish, superficial, arrogant hypocrite who shamelessly and unabashedly told others to their faces that they were trashy low-lifes, all while she's having an affair with her husband's stepfather and lying to her husband that their child is his; not to mention paying people with the stepfather's money to ruin her competition.

All the supporting players were very good also, including Aviva Mongillo (what an unusual name!) who played the clever, vengeful babysitter in the title.

I would've given it a score of 8 if the ending had included the fate of Madelyn. It wasn't enough to know that she had apparently moved out of the house - the fate of her and her husband and child was left hanging for the audience to figure out on their own. She actually committed premeditated murder (the babysitter's friend accidentally, since she meant for the babysitter to die) so it would've been nice to know that she went to prison for it, and if that was the case, then what happened to her child? Did her now ex-husband John get custody of him even though it was his stepfather's child and not his?

That is a major beef of mine with most LMN films - I'm tired of wasting the time watching the whole things only to have so many of them end ambiguously, leaving the audience wondering.

Amazed to find this was a TV movie
doujyr26 May 2022
Beats loads of "proper" films hands down. What a little gem. Plus I've been an admirer of Bree Turner's assets for 20 years and there were a couple memorable scenes in this.

What struck me was how internally consistent the plot was. Seldom did I think this person would not do that in real life, but I'd think ok, I can see that.

A cliche movie about family scandals in suburban community
mervederyayazicioglu24 December 2020
I watched it just out of interest and well it was quite a waste of time. Even though it had a cliche topic, the film also shows a part of the prejudiced society. The fight between the babysitter Carrie and her neighbour Madeline was very immature and the acting was below average. Bree Turner did an okay job at playing a stereotypical rich suburban wife, who is ready to get rid of everyone to get what she wants. But other than that, the plot was full of cliches.

Never going to win an oscar, but not a bad watch
Boristhemoggy5 August 2022
I was going to run this off after 10 minutes as it was a typical gossipy girl nasty neighbour B movie.

But for whatever reason I kept watching and started to engage with it.

Aviva Mongillo didn't do a bad job at all, I could imagine her with some great direction becoming a fairly good actor.

But Bree Turner just sucked me in completely when she arrived on scene. Good acting and a stunner to watch.

Supported by some not too bad at all performances, a very decent soundtrack and a good script that could have been great if it had more attention.

It gets a solid 4 from me for being a very watchable and half decent mystery.

A baby sitter battles with the bully next door
phd_travel21 January 2020
Something different from the usual lifetime baby sitter thriller. Good acting and quite dramatic. A feud between a teenage baby sitter and her adult neighbour who got her mom fired. It's fun to watch the back and forth as it escalates from sabotage and blackmail and worse.

Unlike other LMN movies the ending is actually not a let down.

Can't deny that this movie was pretty darn good.

Warning: Spoilers
It's a bit of a rarity to come across a Lifetime movie that holds your attention and ends nicely as this movie. It's far from perfect, but it was a really entertaining movie that's worth rewatching. The two main actresses (the babysitter and her nosy neighbor) play incredibly well off of each other and keeps the drama boiling whenever the two encounter each other.

SPOILER ALERT:

The climax at the end where the nosy neighbor's husband finds out about her affair and the truth about their child was perfectly acted by both actors. And to top it off, the scene that follow, where the nosy neighbor has a breakdown in front of her neighbors was a moment that truly deserves praise for her actress.

One of LMN's Best
vbacon-111-57832915 January 2021
Very happy to give this movie a great review. The story involves a lot of intrigue and mystery that leaves you guessing until the end.

Great acting all around. Bree Turner plays the snobby suburban housewife very well. Zoie Palmer has a strong supporting role too.

The standout is clearly the young Aviva Mongillo. Her attitude and demeanor is so typical of millennials today. Her smarts and confidence shine through making her the heroine you're happy to root for.

I'm so glad I don't have neighbors

Warning: Spoilers
Pretty good, Lifetime.

Also called "The Babysitter's Revenge," this film delivered sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll - all from one little street!

It's obvious that everyone thinks Mrs. Cooper is an insufferable b-word, so I'm not sure how she ever thought she'd actually win an election.

Also, did Blair live? Justice for Blair! She and Carrie had a great relationship and all, but Blair definitely gave way too much in that friendship. Towed car, kidnapping accomplice, and possibly her life?

Good job, Detective Husband, in eventually realizing that your sterile sperm couldn't have produced a baby.

Major propers to the wardrobe department for the inclusion of that tell-all pinky ring.
