Quotes

Velma Dinkley: Looks like this mystery is really starting to come together.
Ricky Gervais: [long silence] Velma, you can't just say that and keep it a secret, right gang? I mean, just, I'm just saying, if she understands the mystery, she should just say who the bad guy is; just blurt it out and we can all go home, so... come on, who did it?

Ricky Gervais vs Cat Mummy
26 July 2019 | by mickdansforthSee all my reviews

This is easily the weakest episode of the series so far.

If you are a big fan of Ricky Gervais, I'm sure his performance is great, but mostly I know him from being a personality in interviews and his small parts in the Night at the Museum movies.

Ricky Gervais more or less takes over the narrative and gets most of the dialogue, and Mystery Inc plays second banana to him.

Also I didn't notice any classic Hanna Barbera call backs/easter eggs/fan service in this episode.

The first episode had the scuba suits from the second episode of the original series. The second episode brought back classic Hanna Barbera characters from 2 70's cartoon series. The third episode brought back classic Hanna Barbera characters from 2 70's cartoon series. The fourth episode featured a ghost laugh from the first episode of the original series. This episode seems to have none.

The Mummy Cat Monster is great though. And there's a ton of fun cat stuff in the episode.

This episode is still a great time, but not as awesome as the 4 previous episodes.
